While out and about exploring the NORA District in West Palm Beach I found this adorable ice cream shop. I had heard of Van Leeuwen but was not that familiar with the company. It turns out they have been around for quite awhile. Van Leeuwen Ice Cream was founded in 2008 in New York City by brothers Ben and Pete Van Leeuwen and Laura O'Neill,. The trio started their business with a yellow food truck that served artisanal, high-quality ice cream. They gained popularity with their simple, premium ingredients and creative signature and seasonal flavors and have now expanded to grocery store distribution and over 70 shops nationwide. Van Leeuwen had a wide variety of flavors to choose from including Espresso Fudge Brownie, Peppermint Stick, Pumpkin Cheesecake, Cinnamon Caramel Apple, Cookies and Cream, Earl Gray Tea, Big Face Affrogato, Sicilian Pistachio, Marionberry Cheesecake, and Praline Butter Cake, along with your more classic choices like Strawberry, Chocolate, and Vanilla, There were also nine vegan choices that included banana bread pudding, strawberry matcha, and strawberry shortcake. You can top your ice cream with sprinkles, syrups, and sauces and eat it in cones and cups. Everything looked delicious and after a few taste tests and consultation with the friendly employee I finally decided to indulge in a waffle cone of Espresso Fudge Brownie which I was told was one of their most popular flavors, topped with a scoop of honey comb, a hard to find favorite. It was the perfect pairing and I loved it down to the last lick. You can also take their ice cream home in pints. From what I tasted, this ice cream is top notch. I think I found a new favorite spot.

Today we explored the newly developed NORA district of West Palm Beach (North of Railroad Ave). Many businesses & restaurants in this area are still being built out and have not opened yet, but I literally squealed with excitement when I saw the Van Leeuwen shop. This is one of my favorite brands of ice cream, but I've never actually been to one of their scoop shops before. The interior is super cute -- all pink & yellow with a few seats and additional seating outside. You're able to sample any flavors you'd like and I was surprised to see how many vegan options they have. I tried the key lime pie & praline butter cake flavors which were both amazing, but ultimately I went with tried & true favorite -- honeycomb. It's just so rich, creamy and delicious. I just wanted one scoop which I shared with my toddler and he also approved. I'm sure this will be a hotspot as more businesses continue to open in the area!

I recently visited the NORA district and stopped by a cozy ice cream shop called Van Leeuwen. They offer a wide variety of flavors, all of which tasted incredibly fresh and creamy. I sampled the Matcha Strawberry Latte flavor, and it instantly became one of my favorites the balance between the matcha and strawberry was absolutely perfect. The staff were friendly and helpful, offering additional samples that made choosing even harder. After some thought, I decided on the Honeycomb flavor. Despite its name, it doesn't actually contain honey; instead, it features a creamy coconut blend that was surprisingly amazing. They also offer vegan ice cream options, which were impressively delicious. Overall, Van Leeuwen has definitely become one of my go-to ice cream shops. I love the flavors and the experience, and I'll definitely be back.

Italian Hazelnut changed my life! Adorable pink themed ice cream shop in downtown Delray. Lots of flavors and toppings options with free samples to help you decide. They even make their waffle cones in house.

They followed the two of around the store the entire time--but only us two not the middle aged or boomers in the store. Apparently being a young adult is suspicious? Nevermind that we were dressed well and classy. It felt like ageism, if not r@cism (since we are minority?) But all three employees (younger than us) were on us as if they expected the worse, and they lacked all tact in their supervision and stares.

In the morning you can enjoy artisanal coffee, both cold brew and Seattle-style pour over and freshly-baked pastries. For lunch they offer quick, light bites, which include salads, sandwiches and snacks. They even sell cigars and bottles of wine. On the other side is a carefully curated collection of gifts and unique decorative accessories from around the world. Everything is so artfully arranged by type and color scheme. They sell holiday decorations, books, collectibles, dishes, cups, glassware, topiaries, beautifully embroidered dish towels, an assortment of napkin rings, greeting card, note cards, decorative items, glass paper weights, candles, beauty items, and more. I really loved the Palm Beach coloring book. Of course this being The Breakers, items are pricey. A single greeting card was $6. I enjoyed exploring all of the shop items after which I indulged in a croissant and coffee from the food side. You can take your food and drinks out to the Palm Court where there is beautiful landscaping, fountains, and tables and seats. You don't have to be a guest of the resort to come here. The Breakers tries to limit non resort guests during season but if you allow them to scan your license and tell the guards you are coming to eat or shop they will let you in. Guest parking is on your immediate left just after you pass the guards.
