This company was so easy to work with. I left a message on Tuesday night and had a response first thing in the morning on Wednesday and was able to get a same-day appointment. For reference, a bird got into the bathroom exhaust fan and died, creating a horrible smell that needed to be dealt with quickly. I had brad replace a LWCO Device on our triangle tube boiler. The problem part was leaking and the tech. Brad fixed it right away. He then removed the ignitor which had a VERY tight screw that he was finally able to remove. After cleaning the ignitor and re installing the boiler would not work because the ceramic part of the ignitor was spinning on the metal part. Not a fault of the service technician just an eight year old part that needs replacing.Many repairmen would have said i need to order a new part and you will have no hot water or heat until i can return days later and replace the broken part. Incredible followup after new attic installation 11 months ago. Unit was tripping circuit breaker. Service call on Sunday by phone and in person next morning first thing. Van Genderen Heating and Air conditioning serviced our 15 year old AC unit when it failed 2 years ago on the hottest day in July, when every other service I called quoted me days and sometimes weeks before they could service my AC. The technician arrived quickly and in a matter of an hour had the equipment back online. I was so impressed by the promptness professionalism of that service that I had them provide me with a quote for AC and furnace replacement. Their quote was competitive with others I had received for similar equipment and the details and information provided (I asked many questions) made me quite confident that Van Genderen would perform the replacement correctly. I had the new AC unit and furnace installed on April 4, and I am glad I chose Van Genderen. Janel kept me in the loop though the entire process up until the day before the install, insuring everything was a go. I was told it could take the entire day, as we were also moving the location of the AC to the opposite side of the house. They arrived promptly at 730 AM and began the removal of the old furnace in the basement after thoroughly preparing the entry to the the basement so that no damage to the carpet/floor would occur as the worked. As I watched 3 of the crew systematically remove the old furnace, I did not realize that 2 other team members (in 2 more separate vans) had arrived and were removing the new equipment from a truck and staging/preparing it for installation while also removing the old AC unit. Throughout the morning the process ran like clockwork. The jobsite indoor and outdoors was constantly being cleaned of debris from the old equipment being removed and scraps from the new install. By noon most of the equipment was plumbed in and again like clockwork the electricians (2) arrived and began connecting the newly relocated AC to a new circuit on the fuse box. All the work was top notch. I was worried about how the new AC unit would be installed as the grading on the new location required some work to place the platform and AC unit level to the ground but still near the house. They did a fantastic job (see pictures), as the platform was leveled with matching landscaping blocks already used on our property! All the connections (coolant line and Electric) were run clean and sealed properly. The team completed the job in the early afternoon. As they were wrapping up the testing and initialization of the equipment, they explained the new features of the equipment and stayed to answer any and all questions I had regarding its operation. When they left, you would have never known they had been there (inside and out was as clean as when they arrived), other than the existence of an expertly installed new HVAC system. These guys/Gals are the real deal, I am glad I selected Van Genderen to do the replacement, I would recommend them to anyone requiring anything from routine maintenance, repair or complete system replacement. No BS, just do the job and do it right. read more

I've used Van Genderen for 20+years on multiple houses (rental properties as well as our own residences). I started using them when Kevin was a tech before he took over the company and I've stayed with him ever since. As Denver has grown so rapidly it is harder and harder to find reputable businesses that are honest, knowledgeable and have the skilled man power to complete jobs in a timely manner. I sought specialty air cleansing capability installation for my parents house for Covid prevention (Reme Halo), and used the manufacturer website to find local provider. First call to Company A resulted in 10 days worth of phone tag (and ultimately 30% higher price), second call to Company B went like this "How did you get my number? This is my cell phone and I'm the owner. Call this other #". They put in a quick fix for a heater that was poorly repaired by another company then I had them come back to ultimately fix the problem. Let me start by saying that Van Genderen Heating should be teaching a class to corporate America on "How to Satisfy Customers". As a new and now loyal customer I can honestly say that I have never felt more taken care of by a service company. I'm an out of state resident and our Denver rental was in need of an annual inspection, whereby the distance aspect makes for somewhat of less than comfortable feeling control wise. Upon contacting Van Genderen, I was treated with both courtesy and professionalism and in a manner that delivered answers to all the questions I was having and some I didn't know I should be asking. In short, I was put at ease from the beginning! They took their time to thoroughly explain their service inspection process along with a detailed account of their history and how they do business. This in turn was followed up with detailed results of the inspection itself and insights about our properties condition as communicated by the service technician who executed the job. The office management has created an attitude of "no job is too big or too small" and "we both value and treat all our customers with care and respect". But Van Genderen said a new furnace wouldn't fix my problem as it was a ductwork issue. We all know how dry Colorado can be and winter just means your furnace drops your humidity even further. Kevin at Van Genderen suggested adding a whole house humidifier and I sleep much better. Kevin also ran an additional duct to a garden-level room to add more heat. He also put in central air conditioning. After $200, the A/C was the same as when he started. Asked him to check the coil to see if it was in need of cleaning, but he didn't know (or didn't want to) how to get his camera in there. I told him how, but he looked so confused, I was done and said I would give it a couple hours to see if what he did would work. Gave it an hour and half, and was still no difference. Said I had the wrong size filter (I did), but when I went to see which one he put in, he put the wrong size in too. They did give me half my money back, and were very nice though. read more

I own a rental property in Centennial, CO and I live in St. Louis. My tenants called me to let me know the AC condenser was not operating. I decided to use Van Genderen after 15 mins. of research and I was very pleased. A tech was out on my property repairing the problem with in 2.5 hrs of me being notified by my tenants. They gave me the best price and worked with my tenants schedule very well. In less than 3 hrs. of knowing there was a problem they came out and fixed it for a very competitive price. I am upgrading my rating from 1 star to 2 stars based on the fact that Van Genderen was willing to work with me on the final bill based on some of my feedback. I'm also taking the time to compile a more honest review. Perhaps it came down to bad luck and a tricky ductless a/c unit, but certainly areas the company could improve upon are below. We were never quoted part pricing or estimation of time for work to have an idea of cost. Technician sort of combined diagnostic work with what seemed to be trial and error on possible fixes. We had no idea what we were in for. Technician admitted he needed to "do some research" on pumps since they don't work with them....never came back with price quote. Part was ordered but we were not aware of the price until after purchase, which was quite expensive (afterwards, this is where Van Genderen was willing to wave the cost, so one good thing). I provided company with the make/model of our unit and a detailed description of the issues were having so they could find a technician familiar with product. They sent someone who had worked on splitter units, but not ours. Our technician spent a great amount of time learning about our unit (downloading the manual, reading it, and trying to figure it out). We should not have to pay the time spent for technician learning the unit...,the expectation was they would send a technician with the appropriate experience. Technician, through lack of preparation, spent more time here than needed and at $xx/hr, is significant. He spent time looking and searching our home for a "long spout" tool (like a water can or small funnel/hose), of which he even said "I should have something like that in my truck, but I don't". The AC unit in our son's room is still making noise (our chief complaint on that unit), so issue was not resolved on half our request. Technician left open gallon of water in our son's room, left light fixture off the shower light (after the water linked through the attic when they blew out the line) - small really, but just unprofessional. While the work was not easy, I would have appreciated some indication of costs up front (possible time spent, pump costs, etc.). read more

All the installers were competent and quick. One day installation for a new furnace with a burner ventilation run of 20 feet, new pad and condenser, and new wiring.
