It provides a room only facility and if food is required then the Little Chef is convenient and provides good service. The rooms are basic with a double bed and a sofa-bed with a pull extra bed for a child. The rooms are en-suite and clean towels are provided. The room also has a desk/dressing table and a terrestial tv. The rooms are double glazed to keep noise out, but beware that if you like to have to window open for fresh air, the A57 outside is fairly busy all night with lorries. We used this Travelodge as a base when we visited Clumber Park (which is about 10-15 minutes away) and Sherwood Forest (less than 30 mins). It is also convenient for South Yorkshire and the East Midlands

Its recently been modernised and refurbished, and the results are there for all to see. The hotel is stylish and comfortable. The rooms are likewise modern and comfortable, and wouldnt look out of place in more expensive country hotels. The restaurant is known as The Brasserie, and is excellent. From the plentiful breakfasts to the evening meals - a variety of choice from the everyday (steak and chips) to the slightly more special. A choice of drinks and a very good wine list compliments the food perfectly. The big selling point here is the New Leaf Spa - a new, modern health spa which would put any other to shame. It looks superb, and offers a pool, sauna, state of the art gym and a wide ange of beauty treatments for both men and women. The estate caters for all kinds of breaks - hiking, cycling etc, as well as offering conference and wedding packages. Its certainly one of the best hotels/spas in the area, and it compliments its surroundings perfectly.

Slow on service in the bar (now called Normanton Inn) but quality of food makes up for it, wierd items on the menu, Ostrich burger for instance.. I'll give that a miss ;-) Worth a visit - expensive to stay here but worth a coffee when passing or visiting Clumber Park itself.

I love the old cosy pub atmosphere and the collection of prints and old photos on the walls. I ordered the thin crust pizza, the one with pesto, goat cheese and caramelized onions. I asked for an addition of wild mushrooms, and it was wonderful. My hubby got the Brie & Bacon sandwich with cranberry sauce on the side, wow, that was really good as well! I had a glass Sauvignon Blanc which was lovely, have no idea where it was from, but, I really liked it. My hubby ordered the classic gin&tonic. It was a perfect place to restore ourselves after a hike in Sherwood Forest.

On the pub side, we see open fires and Cask Marque quality real ales, with 5 to choose from at any time. These turnaround very quickly and you could expect to see a new "4" on from one week to the next, seeing Bombadier as the house favourite, which remains constant The Forest Lodge is exceptionally well run. The staff are excellent and never fail to deliver. Once in the restaurant, you will find that service and quality go hand in hand, and the price won't shake you to the ground either. Excellent, fine food and realistic prices, cooked and served consistantly well. Above the bar and restaurant sees quality accomodation. Even though I live in the village, I have actually stayed there quite a few times. If you're in the area, maybe looking at Rufford, Thoresby or Clumber parks, or perhaps visiting Sherwood Forest, then the Forest lodge will not disappoint. http://www.forestlodgehotel.co.uk/

Didn't see elevators, so if walking is a concern, ask about that! It was a schlep for lugging the cases for me. Front desk staff and all staff in general was lovely and very accommodating. There is very little storage if you are staying more than a few days and like to unpack to settle in as I do; however, we asked for a chest of drawers maybe? And, they did bring a small three drawer piece in, which I used to the full. Am I the only one who likes to unpack? I thought that was a little odd, but made do. Excellent shower and hot water. Very comfortable beds, pillows, linens. We ate breakfasts and several dinners in the dining room, which was fine. I have a limited menu and I did fine but I can't judge the whole menu as I stayed in my lane. But...someone should change their music -- they play the same songs over and over and over! I don't know how the staff can take it! But, it was a great base for our adventures, reasonably priced, and the historic story of the place is cool and I loved the stone exterior.

The room is updated, clean and seems well looked after and well presented. Nothing fancy yet smart and comfortable. The hotel was pretty much full but didn't seem loud or noisy around here. The mattress was very comfortable albeit the pillows were all soft and didn't provide enough support for my tricky neck( I know... I'm one of those who collects pillows as always wake up with a stiff or sore neck). Gym:is small but functional. I got up for an early run but one treadmill was out of order and the other in use so I settled for a little static bike ride (at least I moved a bit before breakfast!). Breakfast was very good for the hotel price range, I had some eggs, a piece of toast and banana with yogurt. There was much more selection than that though!, sweet pastries, more fruits, cereals, hot food and you could make your own waffles! (I thought that was cute but I resisted the urge... Not on holiday, couldn't justify it ). I didn't have dinner at the hotel as the selection was lacking. But I'm glad I walked to the sushi place around the corner instead. Will definitely like to come back while on business trip.
