So, last week my husband took some clothing items to VV along with a Rae Dunn item for Thanksgiving and a custom framed watercolor print. The print was cushioned by clothing items and he told the person who received the items that there were some fragile items. The worker said he would be careful, but couldn't guarantee how tge items would be handled by others. Sure enough, I saw the watercolor I donated up for sale. The frame and glass were broken by other workers. It is now in a cheap, paint peeled off, wooden frame. I know you all get alot of donations on a daily basis. Might I suggest you treat all items like they were your own? It's a shame that some don't seem to have respect for donated items. I wonder how many other items have ended up being destroyed? I would recommend only because they do have some good items and that's it. read more

My son has applied for a job here 4 times in past year hasn't been hired yet I go in this place with my son couple times a week to shop and I'm always seeing new faces working there someone told me my son is the wrong color I didn't believe that was the reason but I'm starting to believe it now my son is Caucasian. Today,March 19 2026 1000am walking my little Chihuahua which we have done before for years,without any issues until today.The donation attendant approached me saying stop bringing it to the store because he didn't want to smell urine.What,really? So much going on here at that location,drunks panhandling,open drug use,loitering and Real humans defecating on the side of the building. Also,store employees are seen vaping or smoking cigarettes by the trash can. And,the employee tells my daughter not to bring it by the store.Another thing my Chihuahua isn't an it,she's a very well behaved and loved pup. He was rude,which in the past he seemed nice Not,today.I did call that store and talked to the manager which he explained store Pet polices,and service animals policies. Which I do know my laws. Thank you for sharing. Today however,it was raining.So many other issues the city of Kent WA should investigate.Rain cleans everything. I absolutely love value village but this store needs attention! The bad thing this they have no restrooms so if you need to go or have children you go next door to plant fitness. Employees need to be better with customer service. I had a coupon and the scanner was not working properly I asked for assistance and employee was very annoyed! Finally got it to work ! The fish tank my husband bought wasn't defective. It was just placed on a surface that couldn't hold much weight. The error was ours. On the flip side, I wish they had a public restroom. I actually would like shopping at this store if they kept their Rewards records straight, but when I got to the register to pay today, and wanted to use my points (earned for past purchases) their computer said that I had just 2. It should have been more than 130 pts. You get points for every full price item you buy and can redeem the points for a discount. Well, my points have disappeared twice now. They try to tell me that I wait too long to use the points, but that's not true. The Kent Value Village will be at the bottom of my list from now on. This is a 0 star review. I had 2 very strange and insanely rude interactions here with a very rude worker Named "dawn". I think she's an assistant manager. My bf and I wanted to stop by this location because we hadn't been in a few years. We were excited and looking forward to seeing what we could find . They were nearing closing & calling for people to get in line. So we headed that way , I set a few things back on a table in the furniture area which a is where I had found them. At that moment a lady rudely snapped at me & tells me that I need to go put the items back where I found them or in some bin at the front of the store. She said it really shows your character. I had already set the 2-3 items down and was headed to get in line. Her tone and gesture towards me was completely unnecessary/uncalled for. Reminded her it was her job to put items back in their proper place. I wouldn't have said this if she hadn't been extremely disrespectful towards me. She could have kindly asked or said here I can take those for you. Im an adult and I won't be spoken to like that by a stranger. I'm a person that puts items back on the hanger/ or where they go 98% of the time & I do think about the workers because I too have worked retail . Since the store was about to close and my boyfriend & I were headed to get in the line I wasn't going to go putting all the items back in their exact spots or pick them back up. It's a damn thrift store the items are in random places anyway & it was in the same section . This was a very bizarre experience.Why should the shoppers be expected to put unwanted items back into some bin or back onto the shelves. We exchanged a few words I told her she's being ridiculous and asked for her name so I could make a complaint. which I also really don't like to do, however She decided to then call me a whale/ suggesting I was fat. All the employees here are lazy and rude. It's like they don't want you to buy things. Once no price was on an item so I asked at checkout and they said they couldn't price it and I couldn't buy them. Another time tried to buy items but apparently they were priced wrong so they said I couldn't purchase them or get it fixed and purchase. I came here with a friend who was looking for winter clothes for herself. She asked me to help give input and look through what was available. I had been to this store once before but about 17 years ago. It doesn't seem to have changed a bit. Some women's sweaters were as much as $10 while others were $5. She found some blouses for $3 and others for $5. She was irritated when we were checking out because she had a punch card they wouldn't honor. They told her that they no longer have that program and won't honor any of the cards from before. Since she's a senior, she got 15% off so that made up for it to her. There were no shopping carts in front of the store, and we couldn't find any of the big ones inside the store for a few minutes, just the little red carts you pull along. All of the carts were in use or out in the parking lot. VV sells new items for Halloween. Everything else is donated and used. read more

Went shopping for an outfit for my birthday, they were closing, and the lines were busy. My mom and I thought that I could quickly try on the cloths I picked over my cloths while waiting for the lines to die down, and she moved non cloths items to another basket. A woman that worked there, started bossing us to get to the front rudely. I finished trying on the dress I had already gotten ready to try on (we don't have much money, so I can't just buy everything and swap for what doesn't fit, cause that's still the same amount of money, and I had a handful of items). She then starts triggering my PTSD, causing me to shake and break down. She told the security to get us out because I (shakily and crying) said "F*** you" because of how insanely rude and uncaring she was being. My mom went to check out after her and the security guard had me calm down by sitting in one of the recliners (that are like 10 feet from the front and he's constantly checking if i'm ok, asking when my birthday is, how old I'll be, etc. he was very sweet) the lady came back telling me I have to go to the front (where I already am, i'm just trying to calm down) and got into a fight with my mom again because i'm just trying to regulate myself and breath, and she makes me move to where there's no where to sit, where she's staring at me the whole time, and where i'm helping my mom to check out and have extreme anxiety of even touching the cloths because of the fear she'll get pissy at me again... The security guard was great they have nice items, nicely payed out, but a BITCH of a chihuahua thinking she's all knowing... she has a damn LOG up her ass and if one curse word throws her into a fit, than have fun in the real world.... 0 stars, only reason its 1 star is cause I have to give a star, so I guess I'll give it to the security guard. This place is not nearly as nice as Ballard's, but I guess that's the area clientele base they draw from is not as posh. They are well organized and diligent about Covid cleanliness. I find a disparity in prices that's puzzling at times; sometimes two very similar items are priced very differently. However that at times has worked to my advantage, so, not terrible. They move lines quickly, which is great; there seem to be enough staff. The only thing that really bothers me (perhaps this is entire chain's decision) is that they only have one day of the week for senior discounts. PuhLeeese. My friend was very attacked by the manager on May 3 at 11:15am. My friend talked to some of the staff taking donations before the store opened at 11:00. She did not want to wait until the store opened because of other errands and so she told the workers that she would be back. When she went in the store the manager accosted her, accusing her of threatening and demeaning the workers. My friend felt physically and mentally attacked and abused. The manager did not listen to any explanations but screamed at my friend and ordered her out of the store immediately. My friend is a senior citizen and the store was full of senior citizens because it was senior day. This kind of behavior on the part of the manager is, unacceptable, and demeaning. read more

Last month I dropped off clothes, after hours, and then the next thing I know a staff member comes out of the store and starts to record and take videos of my car. More importantly, takes photos of my license plate and then yells that what I was doing was "illegal dropping" and that I would be fined for it. This used to be a pretty good local thrift store. However, for the last few years, it has been going down the hill. The prices went way up. I found one item with the tag that the original store was selling way cheaper than this value village. I think they kind of forgot that this is a second-hand store. I was on my way into Planet Fitness next door to sign up but I noticed a bunch of children's clothes scattered all over the sidewalk so I went back to my car & got a couple of bags to help clean it up a little & as I was doing this a lady got out of her car & literally began yelling at me telling me to, GET OFF HER PROPERTY!, I was trying to tell her I was cleaning up the mess someone else had made & she would not stop yelling at me to leave & there was a man in the store. I'm sure an employee, & he opened the door for her & he didn't even stick up for me & tell her I was bagging up things to help out. I'm 60 years old & yes I am elderly & I could not believe this lady yelling at me to leave. I've been in that store & have been stared at by employees like I'm going to steal something so I quit going in there. Please stay far away from this store unless u want to get accused of stealing because I was only trying to help. The manager is the rudest of the rudest. I don't think I'll b trying to help out a business again if thats the kind of thanks I'm going to get! Hmm..... The staff here is mostly nice. I have come across some people who are super nice, others as grumpy as they come. I once saw an employee walk past a piece of trash in the aisle twice. My wife likes to visit this store because it's near to where we live. Whenever I drove her there, I like to walk around to check their items. Remember, most of the items they sell here were received for FREE from donations. But the price tags they sale back quite ridiculous. For example, the used toasters are cost $25 here, while you find the brand new one at Walmart or Target only $30. Or the tire pump at brand name stores cost less than $20, but here it is $25. Beware, it's better to shop at Ross than to pay more at this second hand stores. read more

The other day when I was checking out in the self- checkout, one of the employees came up really close to me, said "That fabric is really cute, let me see", and yanked on the garment I was holding/about to scan. It happened so quickly I didn't understand what was happening, so I gripped onto it. She then yanked it as hard as she possibly could from my hands, took it from me, inspected it, and said "Oh okay. I thought you were trying to scan one item but had two in your hands" then threw the garment back on the counter and quickly walked away. No apology, nothing. I was mortified. I gotta say, getting in my personal space, pretending to compliment my purchase, putting your hands on me without consent, then making an accusation without proof is just.... a wild move. A few weeks ago, I was first in line to check out. Another cashier was manning the line, telling people when to go next. She walked right past me (looked over my head & didn't see me), so when it was my turn to go, she accosted me for "cutting in line", as if I was a child in elementary school. So, you really have to consider this place more like a Ross or Marshall's. That's the their price range. I've found good things here before, just the prices are crazy. Also, you need to find someone to open the dressing room for you, ( with a screwdriver no less.) and they are small and have no lighting. They have a good selection of men's button up shirts, dresses and sweaters. There home goods and furniture section is always kinda sad. I saw a dirty rug for $70.00 which I chuckled at. Also, a linen tea towel I kinda liked, clocked in at $9.99. Even half price that's a no. They also have way strong pricing stickers on their home goods. Any time I buy a decorative item, it takes me fifteen minutes and goo gone to get the stupid sticker off. I get they are trying to reduce theft or sticker switchers, but they are selling used stuff they get for FREE. This is kent, value village not bellevue. You should adjust accordingly. read more

I have been donating a lot of my "clutter" from my apartment here for a while. After receiving my $3 off a $10 purchase coupon for donating, I would go and look for things I may need like mason jars, frames, utensils and other household items i may want. But then, roaming the asles of clothes, shoes, records, etc... I found a pair of havaianas for $5.99. Looks brand new, it was barely used. Since that faithful day I started to just browse for name-brand items and so far I have found a Patagonia fleece pullover that I love for $6.99! I also found some cool T-shirts for my boyfriend. If you love treasure hunting and/or have the patience to filter through all the stuff Value Village has to offer, you will find some amazing stuff. It's a thrift store. You have to dig for deals. They have a lot of super over priced items, but I only ever look at clothing and bags. I have found lots of pants and tops for $5 or less over the years. They have sales and discounts on certain colored tags most days of the week. I came here yesterday and spent $50 on 6 shirts and sweaters, 2 pairs of denim, 2 brand new handbags, and 3 coffee mugs. some of their jeans are $30, some are $4. Their staff was nice to me except the front end supervisor woman was stressed and annoyed, it seemed like they were understaffed as she had to stop in the middle of my transaction to go help customers in the fitting rooms. The fitting rooms are disgusting. The floor is dirty, gritty, and full of dust bunnies. There's crap on the mirrors, gum, and hangers all over. It just needs some attention. They don't carry plastic bags. You can pay 10 cents for a big paper bag or bring your own I'll be back. I always find something I like. read more

I just came from value Village in Kent and brought them three large bags of clothes. I set it on the sidewalk and the young man, probably in his 20s, told me I had to pick it up and put it in the bins. I said you're just standing there and you're getting paid to do this. I put them in the bins even though I am 71 years old with a bad back. I should've just left it. He was totally rude and said he doesn't have to do it because he doesn't get paid to do it. Came in today and I can't believe they are following suit on taking AWAY the FITTING ROOMS!? How is anyone supposed to buy clothes? Thrifting is about finding clothes that fit you in a search of thousands of clothes. They really want to only give you 12 days to return and guess what when you do return they only give you in store credit?! Just so you can buy something else that may or may not fit. Who has that kind of time?! It seems lazy to me for them to remove the fitting rooms. The double dollar sign up there should be an indication of this thrift store trying to design itself as a department store. Yes, it's organized. But the actual goods are not superior to other thrift stores, yet VV insists on overpricing almost everything. I picked up a Halloween item, a small rock tombstone with a button on top indicating that there was some voice action. A bundle of wires was sticking out of it, and it literally fit in the palms of my hands. The price? $9.99. All of the housewares are grossly overpriced IMHO. Then I picked up a George (Walmart brand) sweater that had shrunk. The price...$7.99. Come on!! The thing that really ticked me off was the records. While most THRIFT stores have one price for all records(being that they are not vinyl experts, they're not going to clean, organize or even inspect the records), the records here are individually priced. Nothing like putting a damper on the thrill of the hunt. Yeah, if you're looking for the Grease soundtrack or some Mantovani then you'll pay $.99. If you're looking to expand or replace your old 80's pop or 70's rock records, you'll pay $7.99 for that Foreigner, Adam Ant or one-hit wonder Thompson Twins record. And...if you happen to get a record home and it skips? The special sticker on the individually priced record states No Returns Or Exchanges. My suggestion? Stick to Goodwill where they (for the most part) don't pick out all the not-crappy stuff and where they stand by their 7 day return policy even for their records. Seriously, I don't know why I keep trying to go back to VV like an abused puppy who doesn't know any better. No more. Except the one in Mount Vernon. That one's all right. Two words: ridiculously overpriced. This is supposed to be a thrift store, right? Where almost everything they sell is used/secondhand. Why then are their prices as high as brand new stuff found at places like Walmart? I find it absolutely appalling. They're selling used t-shirts and apparel at the same prices as what you would find for BRAND NEW items at Walmart. They're selling used household items for 3 times their value. Items with very visible usage marks and structural defects. These are not thrift store prices, they are boutique prices. Managment needs to come to the realization that the store is not Amazon or eBay. They are a rip off, the claim a particular color tag is on sale, but when you show up on a Friday (which is payday for most working Americans) they are pulling everything on the racks with that color tag. LEAVE it there so people can actually buy it, don't take it off, reprice it or send it over seas. This Value Village location is less than a mile from my house so it is quite convenient. I love to thrift and they are typically my first stop. The prices are usually great and they have frequent special events and discounts. It is clean and well organized. Selection at this location is better than other thrift stores in Kent. The parking lot is huge. They also have a donation drop-off spot which is nice. My only issue comes from the donation guy. He is slightly pushy and bit too touchy-feely for me to feel comfortable donating at this location any longer. I appreciate his enthusiasm and he does a great job but seems to have personal space issues that I just can't get past. I have tried to politely tell him no as he always wants to shake hands, but he won't take no for an answer. Again, he seems to be really friendly and kind, but someone might want to talk to him about backing off a little. Until that time, I will have to donate elsewhere. read more
