A true thrift store. Organized better than others. Prices OK: some other thrifts have raised their prices so much that you might as well buy retail. Parking tight for first visit, and I initially parked in wrong building side (even as the sign on the building says it's there). The security fencing around the lot doesn't offer confidence in the neighborhood, but it was safe and clean. read more

This was a really nice thrift store with great furniture pieces , baskets, and vases. They also had a few cute throw pillows that I grabbed. You can find some great stuff here! The prices are also great of course. Unique, rare high quality items I would say. If you're in the area definitely give this a peak, especially if you like thrifting. Had the worst experience at this thrift. After gathering all the things i was getting ready to purchase, i saw a shirt i wanted to try on and the sales rep said shes hold on to my bag. She moved my bag from under the counter to on top of the counter while i was gone and when i came back, they couldnt locate it, and i was only gone for a few minutes. The manager Alba, was no help, I spoke with her the next day because she didnt even call me back, and even asked if i left my number, which i did, she never got it obviously. Alba also tried to defend her cashier, by telling me opposite of what the cashier told me in her own words. I do not recommend shopping here. Id give it a 0 if i could for service. read more

Not a good place. I've been here a few times now and hardly ever find anything... it's not one of my favorites, to say the least. The store is oddly set up, and there are entrances on both sides of the building, so remember which way you came in! It's a big space but it seems understocked and empty a lot of the time, which makes it feel sort of sad. You would think they would have many more donated items to fill the shelves, but it always seems sparse in here. The women's clothing selection in particular always seems thin. They frequently have sales big colored-tag discounts, but the regular prices are quite high to make up for it. And the SMELL. A while back, I bought the one and only piece of clothing I've gotten there -- a leather jacket -- and I've tried everything I can think of to get that awful, musty thrift-store funk out of it. Nothing has worked! I paid more than I probably should have, so I've been resisting taking it to a leather cleaners, but the smell is so bad that people notice it when I wear the jacket AND it rubs off on my clothes. For this reason alone, I'd advise against buying any outerwear or items that aren't easily machine-washed! They also have a very restrictive return policy (which is why I didn't just return the jacket). You have 7 days to return items for store credit and there are no refunds under any circumstances. Maybe I could have argued with them about the awful smell that made the jacket basically unwearable, but between the short return period and the long drive, I didn't have a chance to make it back. I also didn't think I'd ever find anything to use the store credit on, and then I'd just be out the $$$. Ugh, the more I think about it, the less I have anything positive to say about this understocked, smelly, overpriced thrift store. Don't bother coming here! read more

This place is a joke. First of all, the smell hits you. What the hell is it? I have no clue. Next, isn't everything in this place donated? I know the proceeds go to helping people out and stuff, but why do they have to price them so high? I went in there today, there was a couch in there with MULTIPLE cigarette burn holes, which also means that the couch is going to smell like cigarettes. The thing was priced at $400!! This is a real hit & miss thrift store for me. Sometimes I come in & find 10 things sometimes I leave empty handed. I guess that is standard for most thrift stores. This one however has some of the ugliest clothes I've ever seen mixed in with a few new Tommy Bahama items with ridiculous prices. It's right on Central on a super busy corner. The back parking lot has some big chug holes. The dressing rooms are tiny & I don't know if I trust the locks to keep the door shut if someone else tries to come in. My boyfriend and I frequent this St Vincent De Paul a lot and, unfortunately, it is not one of the better thrift stores I have been to. You really have to dig to find any treasures here and, well, I have yet to find one. Prices are too expensive and the quality and selection is lacking. There is sometimes a fairly good selection of furniture, but the prices are insanely high. There was a very nice, used hutch with a glass display case when we were there the other day, but they wanted $299 for it! Seriously? And that wasn't the only crazy price. $50 for a used couch that I might see on the side of the road somewhere? $50 for a dresser that was scratched up and missing knobs? Talk about unreasonable! The books are well-stocked and there are hundreds of records here, so if vinyl is your thing you may want to check this place out. Right now they also have a pretty impressive selection of Christmas items. But other than that, this location is a bit of a disappointment. read more

I went thrift store shopping on Saturday and was really bouncing from Goodwill to Value Villiage and then some consignment shops. I made it somehow all the way up to Kent, although I started all the way down in Lacey. I almost missed this place driving by and thought that I'd be pleasantly surprised especially when I walked in and it was 75% off green tags. Little did I realize that the "goods" were pretty picked over. I will say that they have quite a bit of furniture and a neat book section but they have VHS for $1.99 each, which I know I can get VHS everywhere else for 99 cents. The men's clothes section was a shame. All the prices on clothes seem to start at $6.99 and there were hardly any green tags. The domestics section blows and by domestics I mean towels, sheets, blankets and such for you young folk. St Vincent De Paul thrift store is well organized but there just ain't much worth looking at. This St Vincent De Paul thrift shop has a vast selection of books. Every time I go, I pick up a few from their shelves and tend to pay between fifty cents and a dollar each. They have a significant number of recent books, especially in fiction. They also have a number of retro/outdated books which are great for altering and using in art pieces. The clothing selection at this store is also massive. I think there is a clothing manufacturer nearby that donates regularly because I almost always find brand new clothes that have "sample" written in Sharpie on the interior. Because it's on the interior, nobody knows I bought it at a thrift shop. The shoe/toy/electronic sections are not the best, but I typically don't visit these areas anyhow. The home goods section is large, but most of the items are dated. Although I did once find an awesome retro drinking glass set priced incredibly cheap at fifty cents a glass. I bought all eight and later found them on ebay for seventy dollars. Like most thrift shops, SVdP has a fifty percent off tag system. Unlike most thrift shops, SVdP doesn't only put the crap on the sale system. The color changes daily and on most major holidays, the entire store is fifty percent off. read more

The past few times I've been to St Vincent De Paul's I've noticed some of the clothes' prices go up as high as 50 euro and more, and some rails have appeared with a sign saying "vintage" selling the same raggedy, definitely not vintage second hand clothing for absolutely shocking prices?? These are second-hand clothes that have been donated to your organisation for free, I am extremely disappointed and will not be donating again. I believe in charity and recyclable fashion and this kind of attitude contradicts these beliefs. read more

I love st. Vincent de Paul their prices are reasonable and they really do help people in the community. I'm not as fond of the pumped in fragrance as it gives me a migraine. It's a cheap smell. I've asked some of the other people that were shopping what they thought it smelled like and they thought it smelled like urine. St Vincent de Paul smelled fine before they did the pumped in smell. I wish they would take a review from customers to see what they think the smell is like. I only shop Goodwill now but really miss St Vincent de Paul. It's not the mourned Meeker Street Emporium of yore, but lots of good stuff passes through this place. I stop in pretty frequently just to check through the new stock and have noticed that prime stuff often turns around in just a day so, so if you spot something you really like get it now. They have plenty of furniture often including antiques, a good, well-stocked books area, extensive used and some new clothing, quite a big crafts supplies stock -- sometimes you can find bolt-end upholstery fabric remnants -- multiple yards, still on the bolt. I recently scored a bunch of high-end silk-cotton knitting yarn for $2 a skein. I've also picked up genuinely new clothing items including a nice wool coat, several silk scarves, and a linen jacket. They have a really decent women's large sizes section, which is separate, and it seems like their selection of kids clothes is also extensive. read more

This is one of the larger St Vincent stores I've been to and it seems to have a good selection of thrift store type stuff. I've found a couple of cool pieces of vintage waterfall furniture here along with some slide trays and stuff like that, I'm not much into the used clothing but they seems to have a lot if it. The staff is very professional for the type of store it is. I also like that some of the money goes to help people in need of housing assistance (they need not be part of a church it's need based). Overall a decent place to shop for good used stuff. read more

Went to the St Vincent De Paul today and was told from the manager, that my 7 year old son cannot go into the dressing room with "me" his mother. The manager was utterly rude and disrespectful saying that it was his policy to have my child stay outside the dressing room by himself. There was no sign or documentations stating this. Threatened to even call the cops on me. Today there are so many pedophiles in these stores, I have always kept my children with me at all times. I frequent this store every couple of weeks. It is really hit and miss. Records Used to have a good selection, now it has been cut down to maybe 50 records total. Always 99 cents. Electronics Very small selection which is strange considering how much they must have donated. Not sure where they are sending the good stuff as they almost never have anything worth looking at. Furniture Great selection. Strange bi-polar pricing (see below). Clothing Mu daughter seems to find things that she is looking for occasionally. Again, strange pricing, sometimes a good deal, sometimes laughably high like a t-shirt that you can get at walmart for $10 selling here for $7.99. The one oddity is the pricing. Sometimes their furniture and clothing is priced cheaply - like a vintage small lounge chair in great shape for $10 - and then sometime really expensive - like a small dresser with mirror that was stained, and had gouges in it with missing knobs for $200. I don't know if they have different people pricing things and there is no guidance? As with most thrift stores, some sections are well priced while others are priced strangely high. Its almost as if these stores have forgotten that they are a "thrift" store and what that actually means. They are obviously trying to jump on the popularity of thrift store shopping but I would think they could do more business (and more good) by going for selling a high quantity of goods at low prices than trying to sell used items for 75% of the new price. As others have noted, I have never noticed any "smell". All thrift stores have a distinct smell but it is not strong or nasty. It is either something they use to wash the clothes or is just the typical smell of older items. It is similar to the smell of older houses with lots of older items. At least they are nowhere nearly as pricey as Goodwill which has just gone off the rails price-wise. read more

Customer service at its worst. To be honest the man who let me into the dressing room was very nice. Found three pairs of jeans. Front counter help excused himself and walked away from me for a while came back and told me one pair of jeans were no longer 5.99 but 9.99. He explained that he is aware of pricing and jeans are never below $6.00. Brought up the fact that price could have been switched. The lable was plastic tagged on, price tag was stuck on with no corners showing. I asked him to explain again and he thought the tag had been switched. I bought the jeans for $9.99 but will never go there again. For a whole $4.00 he gets a review like this. read more

I love St Vincent De Paul!!! To be honest it's not the greatest place to be looking for clothing options. However, their furniture and household goods are a definite plus! I got a bar table here for $7.... Did you read that correctly? $7 bucks man!!!!! Deals!!! Not to mention they have a bajillion lovely little trinkets to fish through and lots of awesome glass vases. I managed to buy a couple to organize my jewelry at home and they look great. Just your regular run of the mill thrift store. Sometimes you can find a treasure. Nothing spectacular, kind of dirty, small, not too many name brand or newer items...my main complaint here is the manager. And it seemed as though most of the employees would agree, all I heard from them is that he is stubborn, inflexible and his pricing is way too high. I bought 20 baby bonnets- there were boxes and boxes of them. I was denied any sort of discount for buying in bulk. I wanted to buy 35 fake plastic diamond rings for a party I was throwing. They were priced at 99 cents a piece, which is a little pricey for a vending machine ring that costs 25 cents anywhere else. I asked for a discount on those since I was panning on buying most of the rings that I was told by the cashier had been sitting around for months. The manager told me he wouldn't give me a discount on the rings because he had originally priced them at $4.00 a ring. I ended up not buying any rings because he was such a jerk about it. I could have gotten rid of those rings in one purchase but I guess that's his loss. read more
