Through AHS, I contacted Value Rooter, and yes, I also was nervous and skeptical of their way of doing business, but the two technicians , Dan and Joe, were very pleasant, skilled and repaired my water heater. The dispatching service was more or less horrible in the way nobody ever contacted me that it really would take all day and then some to come out to my house. I give them the benefit of the doubt having a job which took longer than expected, but why is it impossible for them to give the customer a call, a text or an email to inform them? A 9 - 5 window (they finally came about 5.30 pm) is unacceptable and takes away from the excellent work their technicians are definitely capable of. Maybe some modifications would be beneficial? Oh dear, tonight....the water heater is still leaking. Hope this will NOT of those long troubled repair job??? I am scared. read more

My home warranty co. sent Value Rooter to our home. At first I was skeptical as reviews haven't been great but once again I've learned you can't judge a book by it's cover. Had the pleasure of working with Jerry and his son Gage. A competing plumber came first and stated that my pipes were PVC and water jetting would fix it. Quoted at $485 for first our of work. Jerry quickly discovered that my pipes were not PVC and said he'd need to go through my wall. After cutting the hole we discovered he was 100% correct and the entire archaic pipe needed to be replaced. He accomplished that and now we're set. read more

THEN I recieved a call from Value Rooter saying that because of prior engagements that they will be coming AFTER 5PM!!! WT??????????!!!!??? Prior before me, waiting 2 WEEKS. My home warranty (AHS) scheduled this company to clear a blockage. Appointment was set for 11/26/2018, between 8 and 12. 12:00pm rolled around and they hadn't shown and no call. I called them at 12:32 and was told their plumber's last job had ran long and he was headed my way. Flash forward to 2:35pm. No call and no plumber. I called them again trying to get an ETA and was told "his last job is taking longer than expected, but he was on his way now". When I told the lady on the phone this was exactly what I had been told when I called at 12:32 she told me I had never called inquiring about my appointment. I cancelled the appointment. These people are not only unprofessional, they are liars. I will not do business with this type of company. There are plenty of other plumbers in the area who will, at the very least, call if they are going to be late. I have never experienced being called a liar by a business I am going to be paying to perform a service. I would recommend nobody do business with this place, maybe they will get the hint. read more

I had a 8am - 12pm slot and was waiting at the house since morning. It's 6pm now and the technician hasn't arrived yet. It would be better if they give a better estimate. I called them around 5-6 times and each time they told me that I was next and the technician will be arriving within an hour. Things happen all the time and I'm ok if they tell me if technician is not coming or they reschedule it. But this is totally not acceptable. They use the carrot and stick technique to keep me and my life on hold while i wait for them indefinitely. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. Horrible experience. They gave me an 8 to 10 am window and told me I'd be their first job of the day. to arrive at my house to repair a toilet and no show. Every time I called to ask when their technician would arrive, I was given the runaround, told he was stuck in traffic and what not and given new arrival time estimates (11 am, then 11:30 am) that never materialized. At one point, they told me their technician was less than 5 minutes away and about to pull up in my driveway. That didn't happen. When I called again 20 minutes after that, they told me he was running behind and they couldn't tell when he'd get here. When I asked for more information and better customer service, I was treated very rudely and they hang up on me when I asked to speak to their supervisor. Our warranty company contacted them Friday about fixing our pipes and they agreed. Called Saturday morning at 10am and Value Rooter had "quit" being a service partner with the warranty company. I've been without water since Monday, have the decency to call someone if you can't make a scheduled appointment. Maybe the BBB finally shut them down. read more

I moved into my new new home on a Saturday. By Saturday evening I suspected a problem. By Sunday morning I knew. 3 days not being able to flush toilets, shower or do laundry in my new home! On Monday someone came out but said they couldn't fix it - it was a major blockage in the pipe to the city sewer. Finally Value Rooter sent someone out and they were able to take care of the problem. I was so worried I would have to sink a lot of money into a house that I just bought and was supposed to be in move in condition! You are saints! Had a water main leak in front, called them, showed up that afternoon, stayed til 9 pm making sure it was repaired. It was a muddy mucky mess and mud kept collapsing back in on them. This company is a JOKE. 0 Stars!! Scheduled a service call 5 different times......yes 5 times as they always seemed to get to our call around 8 PM. When they finally came out to check our water heater that would not produce hot water for more than about 5-10 minutes, they brilliantly turned the water heater down and left. I would HIGHLY DISCOURAGE ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!! We are VERY disappointed with their effort, customer service, and willingness to actually address the issue we are having. We waited most of our day after receiving an email that Thomas will be at our house between 11:30 to 4 to fix our water heater. We called at 4pm and was told that the technician was 20 minutes away and almost done with his job. When another hour 1/2 went by we called and kept getting their voicemail. This is an AWFUL company. I was supposed to have my kitchen sink fixed by them LAST Friday morning. No call/no show. No explanation for it, either, when I called to ask why no one showed up. They said my warranty company didn't have me put on the schedule. Fine- whatever. Accidents happen. It's now Wednesday of the next week, and they HAD me on the schedule for YESTERDAY. Again, no call/no show. This is AFTER I called both them and the warranty company several times to make sure someone- anyone- would come and fix my kitchen sink (I have guests, it's the holidays, and a toddler- I have to use my kitchen sink and dishwasher). I kept being assured someone would be there, that they just are running late and I'm the next person to be serviced after two water heaters get put in at the job they were at , yadda yadda, but nope. Mind you I started calling at 9 am. Four o'clock rolls around- I call ONE LAST TIME- and I'm told by the same woman I've been talking to all day that they will absolutely go to every one their schedule that day, they're just running late. Not to worry. The day ends and no comes, and no one calls- again. Today (the next day) I call, and the woman on the phone (SAME lady, too) offered me no apology and flat out told me that they weren't going to do a thing to "squeeze" me in for today... despite not coming through for me twice now? I have never seen a queue work that way. I figured I'm next in line because I haven't been serviced and I've been waiting since LAST WEEK for someone from their company to show up. Actually, what she said was " you can wait until tomorrow, or you can get someone else and wait until AFTER Christmas." as an almost threat. So yeah, value rooter really f*cking sucks and there are tons of places out there that will actually apologize for that. And yeah, it does make a difference, to be humble when you're the reason why your customers are unsatisfied. You don't reserve the right to both upset the hell out of people and then get upset at them for being angry at your lack of integrity as a company. If I could have given negative star reviews I would have. Terrible customer service. American Home Shield assigned them & I was wary based on their reviews. I expressed my concerns to their representative Heather who advised that their service guy Tom would be at my house before 11am, when he hadn't turned up by noon, I called again & Evan, another rep, assured me he'd be here before 5pm. I told her that I had 4 young children & had taken the day off work but she said he'd be here. He didn't show at all. I called the next day & she acted as if she had no idea about my order. I asked to speak with a manager but she said she was only in the office twice a week. I insisted that AHS assign another plumber & would definitely NOT recommend this company. American Home Shield warranty sent these guys out. The service men weren't rude, but not that friendly either...They couldn't give me an arrival time, so there was lots of waiting around. They fixed one of the small leaks in the bathroom, which was nice. The plumbers then went to look at the leak on the copper refrigerator line in the garage and said the home warranty wouldn't cover it because of the way the line was twisted. The only reason the line might have been twisted (as I explained) was because I had to pull it out through the wall to figure out where it was leaking. They took some pictures and called it in...Nevertheless they spent over an hour waiting on hold with AHS to get approval. They didn't get it. They gave me an estimate to replace the line for over $600 or spot fix the line with compression fittings for almost $300 plus I had already spent the $75 service fee. We just had a babby and I was trying to save time by using these guys... I wasn't going to spend over $300 though. I did it myself in an hour and spent $20 to get the parts. read more

My review will sound very familiar. They are the service provider for my home warranty company. They took 3 trips to fix the hot water to a sink, and 2 trips to fix a leaking faucet (the tech did not have the right size allen wrench). I was assured that I would be the first call of the day (they do not normally give anything other than a 9-5 window, but since this is the 3rd visit...), this morning I was told that the scheduled Tech was sick - ok these things happen - however I would be another Tech's first call. It is now almost noon, and when I called to check, I was told that they had to send him somewhere else first and he would get here when he can. I was told that it was unreasonable for me to have expected a call to let me know there had been a change of plans. Plus, it is difficult for them to call out when their phones are blowing up with incoming calls. But, I was welcome to call back and get an update. Do you think the not calling the customer business model lends itself to phones blowing up? If you don't value your time and want to deal with indifferent customer service reps, this is your company. Update. They finally made it and the Techs were very nice (I did not take my frustrations with dispatch out on them). They were able to solve the issue. That said, dispatch's attitude toward other people's time is unacceptable. read more

BEWARE! Do not use this contractor! Our water heater started leaking and we were forced to use Value Rooter by First American Home Warranty. There were $730 of items that we had to pay for that were not covered by the warranty including $240 for a city permit that actually cost $35, according to the web site. We called the Value Rooter office at least 8 times asking for a detailed receipt and a copy of the building permit and never received anything. Later we called our city building dept to see if Value Rooter ever obtained a permit. It turns out that they did get one, 13 days after the water heater was installed! My appointment finally was scheduled for today (Sunday) between 8am and 5pm. They were a no call / no show after we stayed home all day waiting for them. Update: Just discovered that the pipes were not tightened properly and my sink has been leaking for about 36 hours. I do not have the strength or the tools to tighten the pipe myself. It is 9pm on a Sunday and value rooter is not open and of course they don't have an answering service or emergency number. previous post: AHS called this company for a clogged plumbing line. Both my kitchen and laundry room were backed up. They showed up pretty quickly which was nice. BUT the guy came in my house and tracked dirt from the front door through the kitchen and into my laundry room. While he was outside I swept it up, hoping he would get the hint. No such luck. He then tells me the only took he has with him sprays dirt everywhere when he uses it and he has broken floor tiles using it before so he will call his boss to see if he should rent something else. Comes back in about 10 minutes later with said tool. Sets it on the kitchen floor and gets to work with it under the sink. In the meantime it's not spraying dirt everywhere but my floor is now a muddy mess and it smells like a porta potty! So, the mud on my floor is most likely dirt and feces! He wiped the floor with a dry paper towel, tells me it's all fixed and leaves. Now I have who knows what on my floor left for me to clean up. He was polite and got the job done but he should have had booties to put on over his shoes. It is so unprofessional to make such a mess and not properly clean it up. read more

Avoid this plumber. They gave me an estimate to repair, in writing, for $200 to fix two pipe fittings in October. I called the other day and they say they have no record of the estimate in file but they will come estimate for a travel fee to Gatesville of $50 and that would be taken off the bill. Well the guy came to estimate for just one fitting, $550!! HOLY MOLY! A ripoff. Not only is that double their estimate last October but that is $200 more than a previous plumber charged for putting two fittings on in two separate locations just under five months ago! My home warranty sent them out for a leaking pipe in my wall. The day after they were contacted, they sent a couple of methheads to my house, who walked, said "yup, its leaking, gotta order parts" and left. That was a thurs. The following tuesday, having heard nothing from them, I called to find out what was going on. After being left on hold for 22 minutes (!!), they told me theyd heard nothing from the techs they sent out yet, so they knew nothing and could schedule nothing. Our hw company sent them out. First we had an all day window of time that they assigned, and after waiting all day friday, they called at 5 to say they were on their way. This was after we called repeatedly to let them know we were leaving town at 4. They rescheduled for Monday. We had a blocked kitchen drain for 5 days. They brought in a broken snake, said he cleared it, then 5 minutes later it backed up. They also replaced a pipe gasket that was perfectly fine and didn't need replaced. Later that night the kitchen sink was leaking. .. when we called, they said they could do nothing, it needed to be scoped. Why didn't they tell us that before they left? We can't get a refund for their service call fee. We called nagy plumbing, who brought the same kind of smake, but with a boring bit that worked! The first guy should have done this! A technician has been scheduled to come to my home on four separate occasions, and 'No-call, no-showed' each time. DO NOT USE! ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! They apparently sent their "master plumber" out which was absolutely wrong with his diagnosis. I ended up having to call the original plumber out who installed my water softner. He restarted it and cleaned it out and I'm back in business. The softner works perfectly fine! Next time don't try to do a rush job and if you're not familiar with a particular softner say that too instead of calling the home warranty company with incorrect information! After taking 4 days, numerous phone calls and broken promises to get a tech out to my house to access the problem (backing up toilets from cracked sewer line caused by roots), the quote was $1700 (not covered by warranty service). Once quoted Value Rooter was very willing to fix quickly. A second opinion/quote was $541 to fix the same problem. Get a second quote! read more

My home warranty company (AHS) sent this company to repair or replacement my hot water. I have never had any issues using AHS before but this company was absolutely the worst! There customer service is by far the most horrible I have ever encountered---all 3 different people I talked to were not caring, rude and unpleasant. FIrst of all why would a company that is almost an hour away from Austin be servicing me? When the first visit didn't fix the problem I had to drain the heater myself-of course it was on a Saturday and called them immediately on Monday to re-schedule another visit. I was told they would be out on Tuesday so I waited home all day on Tuesday--the window of the visit was a ridiculous 8am to 5pm, because we love to sit at home to wait all day! When I hadn't heard from anyone at 4:55pm, I called the office but got no answer. I called again at 5:15 and left a message. No call, no show! I then had to call them back on Wednesday to find out why no one called or showed up. The office personnel were very rude and had no response or reason. They then couldn't schedule me again until Thursday--as I had to work in the afternoon, I asked to be the first person on the list for the visit. No way I was told. It would depend on the scheduling. Really?!? I had already waited around all day on Tuesday and they couldn't due me the service of being the first on the list for the next day's schedule. So they call me at 3:30 pm on Thursday to say he was on his way, even though I had already told them I had to leave at 12:30 for work. SO inconsiderate and unprofessional. I lost it and told them exactly what I thought of their service and customer relations. At this point I had not had hot water since the previous Friday and did they care--of course not! So I called AHS and complained loudly and vocally. AHS arranged from them to come on Friday and naturally they wanted to come after I had to leave for work. I had to get a friend to sit at my house so the service guy could say I needed a new hot water. Like I didn't know that already. The office staff called me on Monday to tell me that after AHS paid them I would have to shell out an additional $1012 for add ons to replace the hot water heater! What a rip off. They wanted to put in a new drain pan-I already have a perfectly good one. To pull permits at the city--I live in an unincorporated area and no permits are needed. They wanted extra dollars for tank disposal, expansion tank, modify plumbing lines, hard piping (whatever that is), Totally a rip off! I called a local plumber on Monday and he came on Tuesday and installed a new upgraded water heater per code and had it installed and working in no time. He charged me $900 for all that was needed! He modified all the lines per current regs, disposed of the old tank, supplied a new tank . I was totally happy with him. Value Rooter was not only going to the the $$ from AHS but then wanted to gouge me for another $1000. I would never ever recommend them. This has been the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. The office staff are the worst customer service staff I have ever encountered. I would give them ZERO stars!! read more

The first time somrone came from this company he said he went to Fergusons in Killeen and they gave him a broke thermostat (really?) and he had to order a new one. It wasnt scheduled to be here until 6 days later on a Monday. That Monday, someone came and "fixed" my water heater at 8 pm (appointment was supposed to be 5 hours prior). It stopped working on Thursday. I contacted them for someone to come back out. An appointment was scheduled for today (Sunday January13th between 11-3. I was informed that they called (I didn't get a call) and because I didnt answer my phone they decided to reschedule. They didnt bother to even come to my house! Since I didnt answer (even though I had an appointment SCHEDULED) they decide to just say "oh well" and not show up. Even if I did get a call and didnt answer, WHY WOULD THEY NOT SHOW UP?? I was ripped off big time by this company. Water was leaking into my kitchen from under my sink. American Home Shield sent them to my home. The service was to fix a leak in my foundation. They explained one solution to me but said they would have to contact AHS about what was covered. The next morning I was contacted by AHS about the leak. AHS told me the contractor would have to go into the slab on my house to fix the leak and that only a small portion of the cost would be covered by AHS. I contacted the plumber assigned to my contract. I told him what AHS said needed to be done, and what he had told me the previous night were two different solutions. He told me AHS never gets it right when describing needed services. I later found out the price I was quoted by them, and paid, was the cost to do what they described to AHS. They actually did what was described to me the previous evening, which I later found out should have cost more than half as much as I was charged. STAY AWAY! read more

This is one of the worst companies to choose for business. We just bought our new home about two months ago and had to call them about our garbage disposal (used through american shield home warranty), I read the terms and agreed to be charged the $75 service fee after being serviced. They scheduled me for an appointment within 24 hours. I was told they would be arriving between 8am and 5pm . Throughout the day I received at least three messages that the technician was on his way. The technician never arrived , never entered the home to "service" and yet I was still charged the $75. I contacted customer service with American home shield and they stated Value Rooter told them they had come to my home multiple times when I had just moved in three weeks prior and had never heard of them before. Avoid this plumbing company at all costs. They failed to obtain the required city building permit and installed our water heaters not in compliance with building codes. They charged for the building permit they never took out and also charged for code upgrades they never performed. They are either incompetent or dishonest. Then it is impossible to get them to correct improper installations. They lie to you on the phone and are no shows for many appointments they schedule. The worst contractor experience ever. We put in a request for a leaky outdoor faucet with our HWC on Wed. Guy came late, said he didn't have the part on his truck to fix it, would go to his warehouse and be back the next day. Never saw him or heard from him so I called back on Friday and was told that he would be here on Monday. Monday came and nothing so late afternoon I called and was apologized to profusely and told that they "thought" someone had called us because they didn't have the part but would definitely have it today, Tuesday the 17th and would be here between 12-5. Pretty wide window but by 5:10 pm nobody had come by or called. Called them back spoke to the office manager who said the repair guy would be here tonight come hell or high water and that he wouldn't go home until the repair work was done. It's now 8 pm and we received no phone call and surprise, surprise the repair man never showed up. Do NOT allow this company of idiots any where near your home and if your HWC sends them, request someone else! The worst of the worst! read more

Here is a copy of the email I sent to which no one there has acknowledged: I want to express a couple issues I have had during this repair that no one has addressed or acknowledged. 1) I called the day prior to make sure we were ok to start on Thursday Feb 15th. I was told "all ok". I drove over 2 hours on way to get there only to be told by the installer that we could not proceed because the gas lines were not marked. That was a complete waste of my day. 2) I told the installer that I was there to see the actual damage and take pictures of it. He said no problem and would make sure I got the pictures. I have not received anything. 3) The next day, the tenant called me and sent me pictures of he complete mess left behind. Not sure what to say about that except wow. 4) I asked for an invoice to reflect the amount to be paid. Not a hard request. I need it for various reasons. Since the price negotiated with Joe was over email, I need an actual invoice to reflect the amount I will be paying. Not a hard or unusual ask but I certainly don't need an attitude from "Evan" calling me to collect when I asked for the invoice. read more
