Today my sweetheart, a Garden Grove native took me to a date lunch at this local GG institution. We split the lunch special which offered a personal pizza, potato wedges or salad and a can of soda for $6 and some change. We were pleased with the tastiness of the potato wedges. They were perfect dipped in the fresh ranch dip. I saw a menu option to order them with cheese and bacon. I would definitely consider that Splitting this was a perfect lunch for us. Oh Value Pizza~ you've been around forever and hope you continue to be around, even through this pandemic. I love their bbq chicken pizza and the combo with potatoes is a great carb filled meal. Had a pepperoni, mushroom, olive and sausage pizza with a side of wings and antipasto salad. Pizza was over baked as were the wings. Salad was as good as always. Good serving for the size, too. Usually this place is very good but I guess because of the day, Super Bowl Sunday, their quality was off. The two stars is for this visit only but will try them again. I made my visit to VALUE PIZZA when I went to the Auto store next to their restaurant. I was hungry and thought to myself, "I only live around the corner and I have never been here before." So I went inot the store, met Jorge and ordered a pizza for the guys at the auto store for assisting me with my truck repair. I had a good chat with Jorge and paid for the pizza and took it next door. I took a piece for myself ( I told them that it was a 'pizza tax' but they gladly shared with me. I am currently obsessed with their BBQ chicken pizza with cilantro and onions. I've had BBQ pizza before, but I've never had it with cilantro and onions before, so this really tops it off. I've been getting the individual sized pizza and its a great size, and only about $6. The location of this place is in a little plaza shared with a 7-eleven, seems like an unlikely place for really good pizza/sandwiches, but definitely worth stopping by. It's also super convenient for my boyfriend and I since it's super close to his house. My boyfriend gets the roast beef sandwich combo meal that comes with potato wedges and a soft drink. The buffalo chicken was a nice balance of flavorful thinly sliced chicken breast and tangy buffalo sauce with tomato, lettuce, onion and cheese. Now the pastrami, oh man the pastrami is definitely the star of the show. Hot, flavorful and not one bit greasy. Pizza is a semi thin crust pizza, (W-A-L's is thinner) they dont skimp on the sauce or cheese that's for sure! The crust isnt anything special but it is kinda chewy (not a bad thing). The sauce is a semi-sweet flavored sauce and not bad at all. Cheese was full of flavor and not what I would expect from a "Value Pizza". Over all the Pizza was good, workers were nice. Only complaint is the 12 slices on a large pizza is probably 1-2slices too many because it makes them quite narrow, I would rather opt for 10slices, maybe they will honor a request for 10slices? The price was great and all of the food was great. The sauce had a little extra spice than your basic chain store sauce but not too much even for this mild girl.
