I am reviewing the Hectors on French because that's the one I go to most often but this review…read moreapplies to all the Hector's I have been in which are most in the area. Hector's has been my "go to" store for everything I need to fix something for 25 years if I am serious about getting what I need quickly and as efficiently as possible. They pack an enormous amount of useful items in comparatively smaller stores than Home Depot, Lowes or even Valu but you don't feel you are in "cluttered" stores. Everything is kept organized so you can find things quickly. They hire people that know exactly what you need and if they don't they are not afraid to ask the senior staffer. I have never left a store without either the exact item or items I need to complete the task or the knowledge to go exactly where I need to for whatever I am searching for that day. I do still visit the big chains for sale items on occasion but I feel when I go into those stores there is sensory overload with all the items and sheer size of the that I many times forget what I went there for in the first place!! The other thing that drives me to madness is the inability to find somebody to ask a question in the area I am looking. Sure I can find somebody for a question I have about some electrical project but I usually have to walk to the other side of the store before I find somebody and then that guy has to put a call out on the radio to the people who can handle electrical and maybe just maybe I will get an associate in the electrical area in 10-20 minutes. Go to Hectors for anything you need and I am sure you will walk out a happy camper in a fraction of the time it would of taken you with other places.

I ordered a Toro mower online that was on sale in April or May. My ordered was cancelled by toro I…read moreguess because it was backordered. The sale was over by the time I tried to order it again. I waited till June to reorder when it was on sale again. I joinedAce rewards and got an extra discount. It came to just under $500. I believe the non sale price was $700. I was told it would be in just after 4 July. They took my info and wrote it and the price on a piece of paper. My husband went in a couple weeks later and they said next week. I called about a week and a half ago and they said it was in but they couldn't call me because they "lost" the paper with my number on it. When my husband went to pick it up he was told the sale was over and it was now the regular price! I called and said I didn't understand why I didn't get the sale price since it was them and Toro that advertised without enough stock. He call me back and said he's give it to me for $600 something. Still more than $100 more than I was quoted. The lady that was there when I went in remembered me and the situation but referred me to the owner. I didn't buy it and as much as I prefer to support local , which was why I went there in the first place , I will never buy anything more than a can of bug spray from them. I have an ACE near my work. I'm not even sure I will buy a Toro, but, we had luck with an old gas mower but wanted to upgrade to a battery powered one. I don't believe they "lost" the paper, I'm just mad that I didn't screenshot it, but, I doubt it would have mattered.

The store is massive, probably bigger than the parking lot actually. There's a lot of everything. Need a mirror or a clock? There's several aisles of them. Need couch pillows? They're organized by color and there's several aisles of those too. We came for table lamps, and even those are organized by color. Heads up that most of the lamps are sold as "mix and match", meaning the lamp and the shade are sold separately. But I like the flexibility this offers. There's lots of shades to choose from, again organized by color. The prices for the items we looked at seemed fair. The store was very clean and well organized, making shopping a breeze. I highly recommend coming in if you're looking to decorate your home, patio, or garden.

We went back to the same cashier that cashed me out the 1st time & she would NOT honor the 15% off since she already scanned it- even though I never left the front of the store & my husband was clearly with me. I understand the code may not have worked a 2nd time but she could have made an exception bc the 15% wouldve worked if I had put all items in the same transaction. My husband then asked her if theres a military discount to which she wasnt not thrilled about so I said YES, Its 10% off bc we have used it at that location before. He went show his military ID but of course he accidentally left it in his cammies. (His fault-he shouldve had it with him) however the cashier still shouldve applied the 10% to honor the veteran discount anyways. He has photos of his id & clear proof of his service. Wasnt good enough. So I said actually we wont be purchasing this then- my husband was kind enough to take back both heavy chair boxes to the section so that the cashier didnt have to carry them. We were completely unsatisfied with our interaction. Its not about the $20 we wouldve saved it was about the cashier's unfriendlyness & clear annoyance to be bothered by us late at night toward close. She should've made it right even if it meant calling a manager. Ive worked retail for years- id never question if someone was a vet or deny them their 10% if they forgot their card out of respect. People don't l typically lie about being a US service member over a few bucks. And really, the 15% shouldve been honored considering I never left the store and the transaction couldve been 1... I didnt realize he wanted to buy more items especially close to $200. I filled out the survey on the bottom of the receipt and it only allows me to type 1200 characters so I couldnt even tell the whole story. So thats why im leaving this review on yelp.

I've had projects with tight deadlines and they were very friendly about working with me on that. Overall, this is a conveniently located spot for me and I appreciate how helpful and friendly the staff is.

Armed with paperwork and a prepaid printed label,I went there for a FedEx envelope. No need for a FedEx envelope anymore ! The associate used an Office Max box( very reminiscent of a shirt box) for my paperwork and taped it up. Let me first say this associate was an absolutely wonderful person. Cheerful and courteous. But I can't say I've seen anything taped quite that way before. When it arrived at its destination, the recipient said it was held together by one piece of tape. FedEx delivery said that box should not have been sent that way. Not sure why FedEx didn't say anything to Office Max.... Not sure why associate wrapped it that way. Not sure why I didn't step in and tape it myself. Moral of the story , you don't need FedEx envelopes anymore. Tape your packages yourself.

Whatever the case - if you are a local or in the area for summer - when that ever arrives - check this place out because it's not just lumber at Smith's. The place has a huge selection from hot tub supplies to that little something special for the lawn tractor! Every time my wife and I go into this place - well - it amazes us! There is new items that arrive throughout the year and this is the one place in town that actually has something for every season. You will find some of the friendliest staff inside or across the street when you actually go there for lumber. Oh yeah - they have the best wood pellets, a few tools and YES FREE popcorn! Folks it doesn't get any better then this. Well - with one exception - with all this greatness - they accept credit cards for a reason - the prices are not Walmart, but then again - it's better that way. Checks and Cash always welcome and they have plenty of parking - it's FREE too! The only reason they don't get 5 stars out of me is because of the slightly higher then I'd like prices!
