    Patch Orchards - Store

    Patch Orchards

I'm a local photographer who has used Patch Orchards multiple times without issue, until this week,…read morewhen I had a shocking experience with them. As usual, I arrived with my clients, politely said hello and stated I was there to take photos by the Christmas trees. Christine (whom I had never met) said nothing about rules or purchase requirements and explicitly told me I could take photos. Afterward, my clients warmed up with their baby in the car and planned to cut a tree, but Christine assumed we weren't buying anything and escalated the situation for no reason. I left with my clients down the hill to take a few last shots and as I was getting into my car, Christine brought her husband Mike down in his truck to "scare me off". They flew past me, tried to block me from leaving the road, yelled at me to "never be seen on the property again," and accused me of "taking photos without buying anything" as if that were a crime. It was aggressive, threatening and completely unprofessional. This is a farm open to the public - visitors are NOT required to make a purchase just for stepping onto the property. If they have rules for photos, they can communicate them like adults instead of resorting to intimidation and theatrics. I won't be returning (for my own safety), and others should think twice before giving them business. If you do visit, apparently you'd better buy something immediately, since that seems to be their unspoken rule.

I love coming here for the delicious apples and other produce, apple cider donuts, maple products…read more(maple creamees, syrup, butter, candy, to name a few). The apple cider donuts are tasty when you get them hot and fresh. Their apple cider, both fresh and hard, is tasty too. The family that owns the orchard is kind and personable. If you like corn mazes, theirs is worth checking out. The views are also top notch.

There are a variety of ice cream options to choose from and three of the four in my group chose to get flights. I love when places offer flights of things! This flight was four 2oz souffle cups placed in a nice wooden board with a handle; easy for carrying. It also came with the reasonable price tag of $6. The girl working got herself a little confused scooping the flavors on the three different flights so they didn't come out quite right. Also, we were given no directive as to which flavors were which. Both of the aforementioned could be remedied with a simple, small piece of paper with 1 - 4 listing each flavor left to right. This did make the ice cream tasting more interesting trying to figure out exactly what we got. We think one of the flavors wasn't one any of us ordered. I seemed to get all the correct flavors. I tried the blubarb (strawberry rhubarb), checkerberry (wintergreen), Jamaican nutmeg and shakin' bacon. Three of the four flavors I have never seen elsewhere and I've tried a LOT of ice cream places. All of the flavors were decently creamy and tasted good with my top two being the Jamaican nutmeg and checkerberry. The checkerberry was nice and refreshing and would be great as a palate cleanser in between courses. The Jamaican nutmeg had a good amount of real nutmeg flavor and reminded me of winter time. Everyone else in my group enjoyed most of their flavors... There were two, which we're not sure which ones they were, that they were on the fence about. But, as they say, different strokes for different folks. If you're an ice cream lover, an adventurous eater or just looking for a sweet, cool treat, get yourself to Richardson Farm in Boscawen for their homemade ice cream!

I bought an apple crisp, small size about 5 by 8 for two of us. Also available ice cream, apple cider, eggs. I think they have drinks made to order, too. Open in the winter Fri, Sat & Sunday. This has to be one of the best, if not the best farmers market I've ever been to…read more I felt as if I were on the scene of Robin Hood walking into Sherwood Forest. Soft guitar music playing while all the beautiful foliage surrounds all the various kiosks. Like something out of Pinterest. I feel like the photos don't do the actual experience justice. Overall, I thought the stalls were decently priced and we bought a lot of items ranging from fresh beets, garlic, mixed greens, to fresh cheese, and mushrooms. Apart from food and produce they sell yarn that comes from the wool of local sheep. I saw a distillery stall where they were handing out samples - it had quite the line. A stall that sold dry teas and infused syrups (I bought one actually) Maple syrup, soaps, I could go on. There's a booth for those who use Hip and apparently from $10 you get $30 to spend so it's a place where even those on a low budget can come and take advantage. Then there's the food which, you should definitely try. It was our first time trying food from Afghanistan and it was incredible. They were like these dumplings filled with either meat or squash, we chose the squash, and then it had lentils on top and a rich yogurt sauce that was absolutely phenomenal. I mean, honestly, it was a great experience, and the place itself is so beautiful, it's no wonder that there's lines of cars parked and others waiting to find parking. That's the only drawback, finding parking is gonna be rough, but when you do, ohhh the goodies that await you! I honestly wish I lived here, I'd be at this farmers market every Saturday.

We loved the bread at Orchard Hill Breadworks. Most vendors accept Venmo or card. But the organizers have a clip board / token system that allows you to pay by card. Very affordable!
