Patch Orchards - Cute store

Lovely family operation. The cider donuts were great - that's really what we came for. I recommend…read morethe glazed. Plus, Patch Orchards had tallow candles and bath bombs in their store made by the mother-in-law of the nice young man who checked us out - those offerings were unexpected. The apples themselves were excellent also, with lots of different varieties available for picking. The scenic views were also ridiculously beautiful. And the playground equipment for younger kids was surprisingly large and robust. Nice place to spend some relaxing family time.

I'm a local photographer who has used Patch Orchards multiple times without issue, until this week,…read morewhen I had a shocking experience with them. As usual, I arrived with my clients, politely said hello and stated I was there to take photos by the Christmas trees. Christine (whom I had never met) said nothing about rules or purchase requirements and explicitly told me I could take photos. Afterward, my clients warmed up with their baby in the car and planned to cut a tree, but Christine assumed we weren't buying anything and escalated the situation for no reason. I left with my clients down the hill to take a few last shots and as I was getting into my car, Christine brought her husband Mike down in his truck to "scare me off". They flew past me, tried to block me from leaving the road, yelled at me to "never be seen on the property again," and accused me of "taking photos without buying anything" as if that were a crime. It was aggressive, threatening and completely unprofessional. This is a farm open to the public - visitors are NOT required to make a purchase just for stepping onto the property. If they have rules for photos, they can communicate them like adults instead of resorting to intimidation and theatrics. I won't be returning (for my own safety), and others should think twice before giving them business. If you do visit, apparently you'd better buy something immediately, since that seems to be their unspoken rule.

A great place to take the whole family. Wellwood Orchards…read moreis a family run business for over 50 years. I went there as a kid and again yesterday. Has not changed much. They have strawberries & blueberries in the early summer and then apples in the fall. They have pick your own or buy them in their on site store. Many varietys of apples: macs, cortland, etc. The store is great. They have pumpkins, homemade pies, local cheese, fresh & hot homemade donuts (weekends only), unpasteurized cider, candy, fudge, cornstalks, squash and decorative corn & gourds. Outside they have a petting zoo for the kids (chickens, pigs, goats, sheep, cows, and peacocks. ) They also have maple syrup, cider syrup, recipe books, and more. Fall is such a wonderful time of year in Vermont.

The rows of blueberries were endless, and we easily filled up several cartons, which later turned into several pies at home. The petting zoo was a wonderful attraction for everyone, especially the kids. Baby goats, baby cows, peacocks, and many other types of animals were around for feeding and petting. $1 entrance fee for the petting zoo? Yes please, all day long. We also spent a few dollars in their gift shop, which had the world famous apple cider donuts that you can buy by the bag. Sugar or no sugar is up to you. Crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside. Made fresh to order. Lots of other snacks around too for those with impulse control issues. Freeze dried everything is apparently a thing. Can't wait to come back again.
