I visited Riverview Farm for the first time over the weekend 11/11/18 to make a Christmas Wreath along with my sister and niece. This was the third year that my niece had gone to make her wreath. They supply everything that you can imagine to make yours one of a kind. Everything grown on the farm. The women teaching the class are so helpful and patient. It was a wonderful afternoon having the wood stove burning, sipping the warm homemade apple cider along with the homemade cookies ( I think they were gingerbread I'm not sure, I was too busy making my wreath) but I can say they must have been delicious cause they were all gone!! I totally suggest you going, even if you already know how to make a wreath, start a new Holiday tradition with your family! Merry Christmas

You can pick your own pumpkins or just grab and go.

overpriced, poor selection, and not very friendly: the best feature is the maze because you can see some local artist's work

I really enjoy the activities like pumpkin picking, apple picking, horse drawn hayrides and a corn maze.

Poverty Lane Orchards - One of many apple trees. High quality!

My family was recently staying in a nearby part of Vermont for a fall weekend getaway. We added…read morePoverty Lane Orchards to the list of things to do on a beautiful day and we were glad we did. The orchards are beautifully scenic, a perfect outdoor setting. The staff were all passionate about their orchard and apples. I loved the store portion because they had additional apples that weren't available for picking. They even allowed sampling, so you knew which varieties you would like. There were a handful of choices that I'd never heard of. I knew I needed to buy a bag of the Ashmead's Kernel, they are right up my alley flavor and texture wise. We moved on to the "pick your own" portion. They gave us a fun tractor ride out to the trees. Once there, we quickly filled a bag with an impressive array of apples. I also appreciated that they didn't beat us over the head price wise. While more expensive than some store apples, they weren't as expensive as other orchards I've been to and they delivered a great selection! Highly recommend Poverty Lane Orchards! Just tried their regular non alcoholic cider, it's incredible! I don't recall ever having better. Bet their hard ciders are awesome as well.

Great experience! It was about a $1 a pound, and we walked out with a sizeable haul of all sorts of…read moreapples! Don't forget to grab a field guide to take you through the orchard! Best produce anywhere! The veggies and fruits are beautiful and delicious and all grown locally…read more The bedding plants and flowers are great as well - the Killdeer perennials I've planted always look gorgeous and are much healthier than plants from other nurseries. The carrots are especially awesome, but they also have perfect tomatoes, the best corn ever, great arugula, mixed greens etc. Strawberries and blueberries are amazing as well. They also have cheeses, milk, local meats, baked goods - if I lived in the upper valley I would do almost all my grocery shopping at Killdeer. No need to shop elsewhere!

Update: Killdeer has raised prices significantly since my review. So I mostly shop elsewhere now…read more Killdeer is still good for the occasional purchase -- but has priced itself out of the "everyday essentials" category, and into the "luxury novelty" and "tourist trap" categories. So, a half star off for mediocre value. Another half star off for business practices, based on Killdeer's sanctimonious statements trying to justify their policy of importing foreign workers from poor countries to do their farm labor, instead of hiring local workers. Come on guys, you import foreign laborers for one reason: to maximize corporate profit. There is no difference between what you do, and what mid-western meat-packing plants do. And that's okay -- I feel Killdeer is entitled to hire whoever they want, as long as it's legal. But I resent the Karl Rove-ian style "Clear Skies" doublespeak spin.
