When my wife came out she was in tears and extremely upset. My wife is about 5' tall and Vietnamese. She speaks English well and is friendly to everyone. It took some coaxing but I discovered she went to the 14 items lane and apparently actually had 16 items . The woman who had been extremely friendly to the previous shopper became extremely rude and even hostile for the crime of 2 extremely small items over the max that my wife missed because of how they had stacked in the cart. When my wife left said woman became extra nice to the shopper behind her. We have had many good experiences and many of the workers are friendly and show no signs of bias. We reported this incident to the store and no idea if there was action taken within. The second incident happened today and mirrors that of another Asian shopper who also left a comment. We will pay that review separately. It's experienced like these that will drive us from shopping at a store. If the store were to take a proactive approach to improving their inclusivity training and address biased employees we might consider returning.

I'm a local photographer who has used Patch Orchards multiple times without issue, until this week,…read morewhen I had a shocking experience with them. As usual, I arrived with my clients, politely said hello and stated I was there to take photos by the Christmas trees. Christine (whom I had never met) said nothing about rules or purchase requirements and explicitly told me I could take photos. Afterward, my clients warmed up with their baby in the car and planned to cut a tree, but Christine assumed we weren't buying anything and escalated the situation for no reason. I left with my clients down the hill to take a few last shots and as I was getting into my car, Christine brought her husband Mike down in his truck to "scare me off". They flew past me, tried to block me from leaving the road, yelled at me to "never be seen on the property again," and accused me of "taking photos without buying anything" as if that were a crime. It was aggressive, threatening and completely unprofessional. This is a farm open to the public - visitors are NOT required to make a purchase just for stepping onto the property. If they have rules for photos, they can communicate them like adults instead of resorting to intimidation and theatrics. I won't be returning (for my own safety), and others should think twice before giving them business. If you do visit, apparently you'd better buy something immediately, since that seems to be their unspoken rule.

The apple cider donuts are tasty when you get them hot and fresh. Their apple cider, both fresh and hard, is tasty too. The family that owns the orchard is kind and personable. If you like corn mazes, theirs is worth checking out. The views are also top notch.

This is such a fun place to visit with so many activities that are family-(and friend)-friendly!…read more My friends and I went apple picking here! You can start off by taking brown bags or berry cartons at the entrance storefront. There are TONS of fields to explore: we explored fields of raspberries, elderberries, blueberries, and then you get to the apple orchards. There are SO many varieties of apples. I would make sure you have some good shoes because in some areas of the apple orchard, there are some steep inclines. If there is rain, it can also get slippery. There is also a HUGE pumpkin patch, flower fields that are available for picking, and a CORN MAZE - the latter is $6 entrance fee! Again, so much to do. Unfortunately I did not have time to experience the corn maze because it started raining by then. If I could make a suggestion, It would be nice for some of the trees to have a suspended net around the bottom of the tree (maybe this isn't optimal for weight purposes). But so many apples fall off the tree- or people drop them while picking. It seems a shame to go to waste, so would be cool if there were a way to catch them before hitting the ground and bruising/ resting in dirt. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. It was a ton of fun to visit the farm with so much to do, and delicious apples. PLUS Mac's Maple is also down the road so that was our next stop!

They had a large selection of fruits and veggies. A lot of them were label with either being From Edgewater or the name of the farm they were from. I didn't notice if everything noted where it came from. They also have refrigerator and freezer cases with local dairy and meat products and event local sorbet (blue moon) and gelato. We picked up some salad fixings, and was enticed into Edgewaters Strawberries and blueberries to make shortcake with...because they were so juicy looking. At check out they did take credit cards, and had boxes to put all of your purchases in for the car ride home.

She asked me my name, where I was from, wanted to shake my hand, and had little concept of personal space. She talked at length about her family, and gave lengthy details about their business, and made lengthy comments about the plants I chose. I did not want to chat or share my personal information and this angered her. What made this even stranger was she did this when other people were in line. It wasn't like I was the only customer there. I told her several times I did not want to discuss my name, where I was from or touch her or discuss personal details. She had a hard time understanding professional boundaries and did not respect my boundaries, or the fact I was a customer and did not want to talk about my personal details. I told her some people don't like doing that and she refused to accept that and demanded it. She countered with "Well, we here are into that here." I think perhaps she got confused and forgot I was a customer and thought in her own mind was marrying into her family or was somehow becoming a member of her family. I am not and have absolutely zero interest in any of that. I just wanted to buy a few plants. I would have given this one star as her behavior was completely unacceptable as people have a right to not share personal information or details, touch people or be touched by them. Yet she became belligerent, and condescending when I did not want to touch her or share my personal information. But - their plants are nice so I gave them two stars. Perhaps this rating will be enough to have a chat with their employees and stress basic professional behavior. I also wanted to let others know about this odd event so they can be prepared if it happened to them or choose it's not worth risking to have to deal with.

Prices are high. The staff are professional, friendly, and helpful, except the manager/supervisor of the Prepared Foods section, a woman with a nasty edge. Speaking of prepared foods, fortunately, the muffins are now baked in-house, and are no longer wrapped in cellophane; they look and taste much better than they did when they were baked, off-site, and wrapped in cellophane. The bagels that they bake in the store, from their once frozen state, are like hockey-pucks, and are awful. The locally, bakery baked bagels are better, but, for bagels, my best advice is to head to The Works in Hanover, or The Works, inside DHMC, main campus, in Lebanon. Fortunately, the Lebanon Co-Op carries fresh baguettes that come from King Arthur Flour; they seem to be quite good on the day that they are baked (it's helpful to not have to make a trip to Norwich, VT, for fresh, King Arthur baguettes). In the Prepared Food section, it seems that the Co-Op has gotten rid of their former, rubbery, very commercial grade chicken, in their chicken salad. We have not tasted the Co-Op's other chicken entrees, in the Prepared Food section; one can only hope that the Co-Op got rid of their former, rubbery, commercial grade chicken, in the other prepared, chicken entrees. Some of the other prepared food entrees are very expensive, and of Walmart quality. I don't get it, I'd think that if the Co-Op was going to charge a very premium price for those prepared entrees, they'd, at least, deliver a high quality product, but, they don't. We pick and choose what we shop for at the Lebanon Co-Op. We'd like to support a local business, and OUR Co-Op, but the prices at the Lebanon Co-Op are very high, and the quality of the prepared foods, in general, sucks.
