Beware. Patients are unable to reach Valley View Dermatology by phone to schedule or confirm an appointment, or to get medical help in an emergency due to a failing phone system. I tried calling this office 2 weeks ago to confirm an appointment for our family. After 20 minutes of being on hold, I had to hang up to tend to the needs of our severely disabled, legally incapacitated daughter - also a patient of VALLEY VIEW DERMATOLOGY. My spouse tried calling VALLEY VIEW DERMATOLOGY this morning to confirm our family's appointment for tomorrow and was put on hold for a total of "1.5" HOURS over 3 attempts. During that time, no human, or recorded human, came on line to apologize for the wait, give an option to leave a message for a return phone call or anything. Totally frustrated, I decided to send an URGENT email to VALLEY VIEW'S "information" email address that I located on their website. In the subject line of my email, I put "Urgent." I knew this would get someone's attention, and it did. In the body of the email, I stated the details of what we were experiencing when trying to reach the scheduling desk. Within a few minutes, someone emailed me back - didn't bother calling - and asked if they could help me. The person stated in her email that VALLEY VIEW had a "firewall" issue with the phone system today. I immediately emailed back, asking: Did you also have a "firewall" issue 2 weeks ago when I called and was put on hold for 20 minutes and had to hang up to tend to the needs of my medically fragile, disabled daughter? Did you have a "firewall" issue occur 2 months ago when someone left a ONE STAR REVIEW on GOOGLE complaining about not getting anyone to answer the phone at VALLEY VIEW, stating that they were leaving VALLEY VIEW and going elsewhere? While I was sending my email response, someone finally answered the phone after 40 minutes of my hubby being on hold for his "3rd" attempt today to reach someone. My husband explained that he had been on hold forever, and desperately needed to confirm our family's appointment for tomorrow. The person told him that VALLEY VIEW did NOT have us down on the schedule for tomorrow...... We live in Boring and Dr. Swift's office is located in Salem, a one-and-a-half hour drive from our home! Had we just shown up for this appointment tomorrow, because we couldn't reach the office to confirm the appointment, we would have spent a total of 3 HOURS driving there and back for nothing. My spouse asked to speak to the Office Manager and was given her voicemail. He left her a message. A few minutes later, Robin, called me. I explained in no uncertain terms that it was inexcusable that we could not reach anyone to confirm our appointment for tomorrow over a 2 week period. Robin went on to say that their outdated phone system "is on the list" to be replaced this year. Robin said "it takes time to find the right system and not make a mistake, etc." She went on to say, that they replaced their outdated Medical Records System last year, and this year was the phone system.. I explained to Robin that we would NOT stop reporting this massive office failure to their headquarters and others. If VALLEY VIEW does not have a fully functional phone system in place today - and every day during business hours - then all patients should be sent an alert notification letter immediately with an alternative number to call when needing to conduct business. They simply do not care about you - bottom line. While I like Dr. Swift and would love to continue that relationship dealing with Valley View Dermatology simply isn't worth the effort even if you can get in. March of 2025 I had my usual exam and some burning of suspected spots. Again, can't say enough good things about Dr. Swift. She suggested I make a full body appointment within six months. Problem was her earliest was December. While roads and holiday guests make December my least favorite months to have burn spots on my hands and face I took it. My appointment was at seven forty five - my drive to get there about an hour. Roads were decent considering we were having a huge rain event and due to a very dramatic change to the landmarks with huge new apartment complexes and missing the street the first go around I was still early. Checked in, went to pay and then the look that washed over the receptionist as she said "you are at the wrong clinic". Ugh.. so this is the only clinic I have been to and it is where I made the appointment and nothing was said at the time that it wasn't going to be here. I was then informed the doctor didn't work there on these days and there was no recent change - so essentially I screwed up. I asked them to call to see if I could drive the ten to the other clinic (which is ironically much closer to my home and far easier to get into) and was told nope, you will have to reschedule and the next appointment opening is in May. I explained she wanted to see me within six months and now this puts me well over a year.. too bad so sad. Yes I was given a reminder of my appointment via a program they use for check in and I recalled looking for the address on the email but found none and told them as much.. I also was certain my appointment card had this address on it but of course they didn't believe me. At that point I felt it best if I just spend the hour drive going home cooling off. Got home and sure enough the appointment card they gave me was for the address I went to - no other address or mention of one was on the card and my appointment details were written in detail on the back form. Okay.. so I went to my email to open it up and expand it fully and nope.. no address. So there was absolutely no way for me to know it wasn't at my normal clinic. I called to express this to the office manager of the original clinic.. option only of leaving a message... so I called the other facility - the one that wouldn't let me come in ten minutes late due to me going to the wrong facility. Again message machine so I asked for someone that was in that could help me and I was given to the office manager Robyn. We went over all of this and she agreed it was there error but not one sorry or hey let's see if we can get you in earlier or on a cancelation list... They did offer a new doctor that wasn't booked out so far but ironically when we started seeing Swift she was that new doctor and we had wanted to remain with her. If I was going to change docs then at this point I was going to change outside of their system. I expressed that and got a reply of essentially don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya. So I am a big no on this clinic. First of all it takes months to get an appointment... as in ten.... and when they screw up they take no accountability. Swift is awesome but she isn't worth the gauntlet. It was very very clear at all levels that they simply did not care that I was way past what she had recommended in a return visit, that I left company at six thirty in the dark of morning to spend an hour driving... that I was turned away and made to feel as if I really screwed up, was denied being seen at the other clinic ten minutes away... or that while they finally fessed up to screwing up it came with no apology or accountability and it literally ruined my day... So big no for me and while I have referred to them in the past those puppies are getting rescinded. Hopefully Swift goes out on her own and I will be the first to make an appointment but as for the clinic.. nope, nadda.. no way. I at the very least want to be treated respectfully and even if faked that they actually care one little bit about their patients. read more

I've normally had good experiences with this medical office. However, today was a different story! I called to make a follow up appointment with Dr. Norris and found out that my account has been frozen because I hadn't paid the balance due. Well, I had paid my account back on August 3rd (and it's now September 30th) but for some reason, their bank returned my check to them for insufficient funds. Did they call or send me a letter so I could rectify the situation? No! They just froze my account so I cannot get medical care. I called my bank and they have no record of that check being sent to them for payment, no insufficient funds charge, no overdraft against me, etc. From my end, they never even tried to deposit the check. In fact, it seems that it was entirely their bank who also didn't even notify them until September. So, I called back and spoke to Lydia who frankly didn't care. She was rude, talked over me and when I said I'd like to finish my sentence, she told me not to be rude! Then she told me to call their Pioneer bank and that it wasn't their fault. It makes no sense for me to call their bank or do anything more to rectify the situation since it clearly was their fault. However, Lydia insisted that I didn't have sufficient funds or their bank wouldn't have bounced the check...and yet my bank has no record of them even trying! Lydia was rude and disrespectful and has caused me to seriously consider switching dermatologist if the staff is going to treat me this way. I cannot even make an appointment until I go and pay; and they seem to have tacked on an additional $10 since the bill was $60 and it's now $70. Perhaps they are scamming people to make extra money! read more

I hear the care is good, if one can access the Grear street office. The only parking is on the street. There is 1 handicap parking spot. By the time I got to the handicap ramp and the door I was reaching my pain threshold limit. Ths door was locked and there is a sign to call for someone to open ths door. This took several minutes in cold weather and then was expected to climb a set of stairs. Either that or walk 1/2 a block around to another entrance. Staff is decidedly uncaring and unfriendly. I received several text messages reminding me of my appointment, nothing about secret ADA accessibility. There isn't anything on ths website either. I tried to make suggestions as to how they could help me navigate the labyrinth of the office so i could keep my appointment. These were met with suggestions that would work for someone who is physically fit and mobile which i haven't been in over a decade. The staff is quietly rude and difficult. My family and I have gone here for five years and were previously happy with our care. I believe there's been a change in management to one that only is interested in money not patient care. They changed my Doctor without notice, I came in for a 3 minute appointment for which I was charged 450 dollars! I called to question the change of doctors and my bill. Two times I tried and was sent to a voicemail that never got answered. I also wrote a letter for which I never received a response. My husband, son and I will never go back!!! I really like my practitioner here at the Wilsonville office. The problem is I can only make an appointment by phone, and I have been put on hold for MORE THAN 30 MINUTES. This was not an outlier. Other times I have given up after 15-20 minutes, with no option to leave a callback number. I have finally just decided to find another practice, not because I don't like the treatment but because their system is so completely antiquated and non-user friendly that it has become a colossal waste of my time. We have been going to Valley View Dermatology for years and seeing Dr Shashi Srinivasan. He is the best dermatologist we have ever been to. He is beyond knowledgable in every area of dermatology. He can diagnose a problem quickly and surgically is fully competent. He makes going to this clinic a pure joy. We would recommend him as being 100% top of the line in his skills as a dermatologist. My wife a consultation with Dr. Srinivasan. From the moment he walked into the room, he belittled her Made her feelings about her condition feel unheard. He accused her of being an absent mother because our child was crying and she was rocking him in his carseat while trying to finish up my consultation. I have never witnessed anyone treated as poorly by anyone let alone a medical professional. I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone who is looking for answers or fair treatment. read more

In my opinion, the service offered was overpriced and I believe the prices should be more clearly communicated. I will not say that I was lied to about the price, though I was surprised to receive a bill in the mail after paying at the office for my treatment for what I believed was the full amount. I understand that some things have to go through insurance, so perhaps that's what happened here. Again, clearly communicating what I would have to pay, or potentially pay, from the beginning would be helpful. This alone would not prompt me to write a review, but the tipping point comes with how I feel I was treated. I did not get a good vibe from the person I worked with. I get a feeling of disinterest mixed with dismissiveness when I talk to the individual. It is however, nice to know that I'm not the only one who feels this way at least :) read more

I had a skin check with Dr. Kokkonen and found him to be thorough, kind, and helpful, and I'd certainly see him again in the future if need be. I went there in March for the first time because I was noticing a lot of breakouts on my forehead and also for razor burns on my legs. They said nothing about my forehead beside prescribe me medicine from their office that cost an arm an a leg so I didn't go with it (breakouts went away on its own) and as for the razor burns he told me to shave the opposite way. I was in there no more than 12 minutes. Just received a bill over 200$ I called them to ask about my bill and the lady acted as if it was an inconvenience to answer my question as to way my bill was so high considering that I'm Double covered. read more

I have been a patient there for about 15 years and was quoted a different price range for squamous cell removal in 2022. They do not take my current insurance. I was sent a bill for $800, well over what I was told the range would be, which can happen. I paid some of the bill up front, but was unable to pay the entire amount, and they quickly sent me to a collection agency. I made $200 in 3 payments and paid it off months ago. When I tried to make an appointment, it was first stated that I still owed money, which I did not, and they removed it. I was then told I was dismissed from care. It is unfortunate that I could not pay the bill on time, but I still paid it in full, with no previous knowledge of being dismissed from care. I am very disappointed that a large dermatology clinic would just dismiss patient care and not work with a longtime patient even when I am a new nurse, fully employed and willing to still continue paying up front. read more

Very high charges for a brief visit during which my husband was misdiagnosed. The doctor told him to start using a mild soap and stop taking hot showers, because he had ecxema. It turned out that he actually had a raging septic infection and if I hadn't taken him to the hospital the next day he would have died. He spent 5 days in the hospital and eventually recovered at home. Unless you have excellent insurance and a minor problem, think twice before you go to this clinic. read more

I had been a patient here for close to 15 years. I was seen at an office visit and given a prescription. The provider neglected to call the prescription into my pharmacy. As soon as I got to the pharmacy I called the clinic and reached the answering service at 5:15pm. They paged the on call Doctor who was Dr. Srinavasin. I was hoping he could call in my prescription. He refused to speak to me and relayed messages to me through the answering service that a prescription need was not a valid reason to have an on call Doctor paged. It was barely after 5pm! My pharmacy closed at 8pm. I knew if I didn't get my prescription before closing my schedule wasn't going to allow me to get it for 5 days. I tried for over 3 hours to reach Dr. Srinavasin. He relied on the answering service who is staffed by non medical professionals to assess my situation and urgency and refused to talk to me. The phone call and prescription request should have been a very simple task for him yet he didn't care enough to talk to me, evaluate my condition, or try and help me. I had to suffer without my prescription because he couldn't be inconvenienced to take a call to fix the mistake of a colleague failing to call in my prescription. I will say that I usually see Eric Harmon and have been very happy with his care but this most recent experience is so upsetting I don't see myself going back. read more

I saw a Amy for a general exam and noted some little bumps on my temple. She told me she didn't know what they were. She measured one, and said it was 3 mm wide. Then she called in Dr. Srinivasan, who measured and said it was 6mm. He left as soon as he measured it. I know how long a mm is, and Amy was right - it was 3 mm. When the bill came, there was an additional $125 charge for the 2 minutes Dr. Srinivasan was in the room giving an incorrect measurement. read more

I went a total of 5 times to figure out a rash that is all over my body. It has consistently become worse. Just not one bit of help, refused to listen and I saw 2 different doctors hoping, since I had been there before maybe they would work together to figure out this issue. Dr. Srinivasan performed a perfunctory examination of my condition, and told me a series of treatment options which I could have, and in fact did, attempt on my own. He didn't listen to my input at all and generally treated me with profound condescension. At one point he asked me if I had any other medical conditions and when I said no, he replied "Really?" and pressed me further. In essence, I took off work and paid $20 to be treated with brusque indifference, and to receive no real help for my condition, which I emphasized has started to interfere with my normal functioning. I was somewhat shocked that a doctor would be so rude and dismissive of a patient's concerns. I can't speak to the quality of the other physicians at this clinic, but stay far away from Dr. Srinivasan. read more

IF YOU ARE SELF-PAY BEWARE! When I called for an appointment I explained EXACTLY what I needed (a simple straightforward procedure) and that I was self-pay. I inquired as to what the EXACT cost would be. I was told $175. When I arrived for service I paid the $175. Nothing was said before, during or after my treatment that there would be any additional cost. 1 month later I received an additional $338 bill - my $175 procedure was actually $513. I had nothing additional done other than what my appointment was for. The billing department admitted I should have been advised when I made the appointment, when I arrived and upon my departure. Didn't happen!!! Had I been informed I would have made a very different decision! (January 2021) read more

I brought my son in to see Dr. Kokkonen for his acne. The check-in staff and the doctors assistant were all very friendly and helpful. Dr. Kokkonen did a great job of communicating to both me and my teenage son. He offered different options, and discussed the pros and cons of the different treatments, and then encouraged my son to make the decision. I never expected I would be swindled into paying high prices for a procedure I can do myself... which I will have to do now because the item I originally went in to get removed in December has since grown back a couple months later... So I am still being charged for something that was only temporarily removed... Called in to make an appointment to look at a possible melanoma. I was told I had used up my one referral already on a very cursory examination during which three spots were frozen. I was not informed at that time, or any other time, that I had only one dermatology referral per year. The person on the phone was not helpful and turned me over to a supervisor, who was more concerned with my anger then with any sort of help. If this spot is melanoma it is at least stage two if not three and could cost me my life. Had the doctor been more thorough during the one and only exam, this spot would have been found and dealt with. I got the feeling of being rushed in and rushed out. Fast food doctoring. I will not go back there and if it were possible to give negative stars I would. Do not go to this clinic. read more

I saw Dr. Srinivasan for an unusual growth on my face. I have a long history of obtaining dermatology services beginning at a young age for acne and other skin problems. I now have issues relating an auto immune condition which presents itself with some pretty unusual symptoms. One of the symptoms is this acne like stuff on my face. I went in to the Dermatology Clinic because I had a rather large bump on my face and had been diagnosed with skin cancer several years ago. During my initial visit, Dr. Srinivansan, I asked him about the other acne like fissures on my face and he said, "oh that's related to your autoimmune condition" and moved on to the bigger growth on the other side of my face which he cut off and sent it to the lab. He did nothing, said absolutely nothing about the breakout on my face. Totally ignored my concern. This guy has absolutely no personality, is non communicative, condescending and clearly not interested in all about patient concerns. Horrible doctor who needs to be working in a morgue where he doesn't have to interact with warm bodies. read more

I could overlook the dated dingy waiting room if the experience improved from there. Unfortunately, it did not. Physician told me I came in on the wrong day for my requested treatment. I said I scheduled appt 6 weeks in advance for this specific treatment and took time off from work so they should make exception. He complied but was obviously unhappy about it.
