    Rose City Soap

Their soaps are wonderful and smell lovely of high quality essential oils, but I am not reviewing…read moretheir soaps, I am reviewing the CP soap making class I went to recently at Rose City Soap and Supply. First of all, the website looks pretty professional so I was expecting to be going to a soap supply store, however this was held at her house in a workshop/garage (albeit a very large one, but still). I was afraid to get out of my car because I wasn't sure I was at the right place. Once I met her I was less scared as she is very nice, but it was hardly the professional business that I was expecting to find. Secondly, I was expecting to learn a lot at this class, or at least make my own first soap. Instead, she had everything already prepared and seemed like it was a bother to show us how to measure the oils and lye out to prepare the soap. While she mentioned safety and what we "should do", she did not use proper safety precautions (even though she had the masks and gloves right on the table). I did not learn anything new at this class, nor did I get any first hand experience making soap because she did it for us. The soap that I came home with (that I only got to add scent to) is lovely, and the only reason why I don't feel completely ripped off. She seemed really unprepared, and anyone who has done any research on how to make CP soap will know more than she will "teach" you. In fact, I did some research on recipes to try, and I found the instructions that she handed out was WORD FOR WORD with the same picture as a recipe on a popular website. If she has been making soaps for 14 years, you would think that she could come up with her own recipe and instructions. This is completely unprofessional, and for this reason I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TAKE HER CLASSES. Save your money and learn on your own from many helpful forums, websites, and you tube.
