I've never had the option to use or even feel silk thread. luxurious! they were busy but staff was awesome help! so many wonder things to ogle. I will be sure to have them in my favorites for online and in person shopping. they also have their own framing center with gorgeous choices of unique framing options. this will be my downfall when returning! read more

The staff are amazing, take their time to explain and listen to your requests/questions. That being said, their supply of diverse threads, materials and patterns FAR exceed any other source I have found, and I have been into needlework for at least 30 years!! Give them a try!! INCREDIBLE shop! The most lovely threads and patterns you've ever seen, and these people know their stuff. Seriously-- everyone who works there is a walking encyclopedia of stitching knowledge. I also feel comfortable as a young person here. They never make me feel judged for choosing contemporary patterns and colors. (Sounds silly, but I've had some weird looks and comments other places!) They have super stunning selection of patterns, threads, and materials needed for your super luxe hand stitched project. If you need a thread color and don't find it here.... I don't know where else I'd recommend. They seem to have every thread color imaginable in cotton and silk. Because of the high value of the materials that are provided here, there is some "pricey" stuff in there, but it's always beyond reasonable, and the "cheep"(but trusted!) threads can still be found here. there should be more stars available for this business. The selection in patterns, threads is so very satisfying. The staff here are knowledgeable and so very very helpful. They are always helpful, sometimes they might struggle to understand me because I get so excited about starting a new project but always always hang in there with me I can't get into town so they mail my goodies to me. its always securely packed if you can make it to the shop it will be a treat. and again the staff is very helpful. Absolutely fantastic! Beautiful assortment of cross stitch and embroidery goods. So many examples around, I could spend hours, picking a new project. They also have a beautiful selection of frames, for your finished projects. I have a lot of learning to do in the embroidery area of crafting. And Acorn and Threads offers lessons. I believe the lovely lady I spoke with was Laura. She was so helpful, kind, and patient. I can't say enough positive things about this place! I wanted to try out cross stitching, so I did a Yelp search which pointed me towards this store. When I stopped by and noted that I was going to try my first project, the employees were very helpful from the start. After I finally picked out a pattern (after a lot of wandering around and browsing), someone helped me pick out the best fabric for my project and the threads I needed. Not only that, but they picked out the needles, showed me the different frame options, and even sat down with me and gave me a quick crash course on how to get started! Overall, I was really impressed with both their selection and customer service. Since they specialize in cross stitching, they have way more than just the basics. For $1 you can buy a rewards punch card where you get some money back after spending a certain amount in the store. I would also recommend checking out the calendar on their website. They are open occasionally on Sundays, and then they also mentioned that on certain days of the month a bunch of cross switchers get together at the store and work on projects together. The store has apparently been open for 20+ years, and I'm not surprised that they have been in business this long as it seems like they really try to cater to their hobby community. Okay, so, I'm jumping the gun because I've only been there once but I'M SO HAPPY I FOUND THIS PLACE! I left from Michael's and Joann having more bad experiences, hoping there were other options. When I came in, a few women were gathered around a table chatting and cross-stitching, and a friendly employee pointed me to the threads I needed. Actually, I asked if they sold DMC and she asked what types and - is this embarrassing? I didn't know there were other types. Or brands. Or hand-dyed aida cloth. Acorns & Threads - you may just complete me. They offer a raffle if you buy with cash - a great incentive to cut down on those credit card fees I'm sure! They have MANY completed cross-stitches hanging up, and all the patterns for them can be easily found. read more

My daughter lived in Portland and moved to Austin, TX 3 years ago. I live in Park City, UT. When I had a question about counted cross stitch, she said Acorns and Threads was the ones to consult. My favorite needlework shop! They have many different fibers; cotton, silk and overdyed. I love their selection of charts and they have many projects stitched up as shop models so I can see what a project will look like when it's done. Very helpful staff who are always willing to help me with a stitching problem. They have classes and I have taken several. The teachers have all been wonderful. They also have a mail order department so i can send stitching supplies to my friends who don't have a local needlework shop. read more

Needleworkers are tactile people. While you can order all your charts and supplies online, most of us like to actually handle the fabrics and fibers. Acorns and Threads is the ideal place to do this. This is the best needlework store in the area--charts, tools, supplies, friendly employees who understand the addiction to this particular art form. Carries most specialty threads--Gentle Art, Crescent Colors, Weeks Dye Works, and others. Will special order if requested. Has a great selection of charts--my recent favorite shows a voodoo doll in cross stitch with "Be Nice or Else" above it. The prices are quite reasonable for needlework--which is a pricey hobby at best, and there are always sale bins and bundles available. The store is a tad difficult to find, but for those of us who really need a needlework fix, it's like Harry Potter finding Diagon Alley. read more
