Classes are always challenging and on time and never any cancelations. Oreo has been a real challenge from day one and carried baggage into our setting. Today he can take directions and follows commands. We train on life skills to be a better companion, and he has made leaps of progress. I can actually take him in public. Progress can be slow and seems like an uphill battle although at the end of the day it is all worth it. Oreo's breed is a greater natural challenge, and he can behave with the best. There are a two reasons I had to write a bad review. 1. They use choke chains and I didn't know how controversial they were. And now I feel terrible for using one. They should have discussed pros and cons and given other options. Especially on the small dogs they can cause serious tracheal damage. 2. They use sales tactics to keep you taking classes. My dog got "third" place in the final test and was told we need to redo. I think that is fine to say we need to retake. But a final test seems unnecessary. *people should also know this class is set up more for show dogs than basic commands in my opinion read more

Obedience Classes: Being a first time puppy owner(I have had many dogs but not yet a pup!) I was a little overwhelmed. Puppy preschool at Valley View Canine has not only been great in helping me train my pup, Millie, but has been a huge learning tool for me as well. Its nice to have staff and other puppy parents in the class to talk with and get tips from. There were certain things I was doing that weren't working and Lynette was able to show me a more effective way to do them. Practicing what we learned in puppy preschool quickly became mine and Millie's bonding time and she is a happy, well-mannered puppy. We have started Obedience 1 and it's going really well! I am excited to see Millie grow and learn. Doggy Day Care: It is nice to have a place I know will take good care of my pup when I need. EVERY DOGGIE HAS IT'S DAYCARE (A bit long, but if you have been here, please read this.) A friend recommended this place, and she probably does not even know what I am putting here. In the heat of the summer, we are hard pressed to even be able to walk our two dogs. (neither one of us are early wakers) I thought taking them to a doggie day care could help them continue to get some exercise. I took them for their evaluation to make sure they were compatible with other dogs and they were. We took them two times after that. I assumed because they were all about dogs that the building would be air conditioned. You are not allowed to go into the dog area and as of today I know why. After their second paid visit, one of our dogs got a very bad lung infection and we had to go to the vet and have her on meds. (I know, even day cares for kids have germs) Our second dog also got sick within a couple of days, and another vet appt and more meds for two weeks for her as well. We still thought we would take them back. When we went there with the dogs, I asked them about the air conditioning as both dogs were always VERY warm and thirsty after their visits there. I also told a very rude/nasty lady at the the front desk that my dogs had gotten sick. I was not blaming them, just letting them as a business owner. She got very defensive and was insulted that I thought the dogs could have gotten sick there. She the proceeded to tell me they do not have air conditioning, never have had it and her dog is just fine. After talking to her I am surprised anyone would go there. She wasn't there any of the other times. She told us she was the Manager - REALLY? This is the information the vet gave us in reference to the temp a dog/cat should be kept in. "In general, you should set the thermostat between 75 and 78 degrees F when you're at home in the summer. If you have a large, long-haired dog, such as a Husky or Samoyed, around 75 degrees may be best. If you have an elderly short-haired cat, 78 degrees could be preferable." No wonder they were hot and thirsty (water bowls are there). And I am sure this is more of the reason you cannot walk into the back area. I also asked about nap time, and was very surprised to find out that they put the dogs in a closet with NO A/C or HEAT (in winter) Who would leave their dog here overnight? There are no laws to regulate how they take care of our babies. I try not to pass judgement on many businesses as a former small business owner myself, but this was just BAD. Our dogs came back home with us, and will never go back. Just be informed. Live and learn for us. I am sorry I put my dogs through this! read more

I was here a while ago, but my experience was negative enough to where I've decided that even after letting time pass, I need to review this terrible business. Had made an appointment to bring my dog for day care, showed up on time, and the door was locked (?). A woman came to the door and she was talking to another female in the office, I guess to see if it was "ok" that she let me in. Once inside, they acted as if this was normal procedure, which it may be, but it doesn't make their customers feel very welcome. So lastly, I was asked if my dog was "crate trained" - which he's not. They said that this would "be a problem" because all dogs are crates for "nap time" in the afternoon. Sounds like an excuse to not watch the dogs to me. I was told that for now it would be okay, but I needed to crate train him if I was going to co to use to bring him there. None of this, of course, was explained to me on the phone when I made an appointment. Sorry, never again, and it sounds like there's been plenty of other people with negative experiences here read more

We're on our second round of classes with new to the family puppy. First was puppy preschool and now in obedience 1. The instructions we receive weekly have helped our German shepherd be happy and loved addition to the family. Lynette's coaching along with her valued staff have made the time at puppy school fun for both the puppy and the puppies family at a very nominal cost for what should be a 10 to 14 year commitment with a loving and obedient companion. I was totally just satisfied with the puppy class. The class was crowded and had too many students. Virtually no one on one training and when asked the instructor for direction,received a vague and unclear instruction. The uses of the so called "training collar" which turned out to be a choke chain was completely ineffective and cruel. The class atmosphere was intense and stressful. The class criteria for the class I took was not met by any standard and was completely disappointing. Instruction and training was demonstrated with a dog that already knew the command and behavior, which was done without any explanation of how to obtain the desired behavior with our own dog. I am so impresses with Valley View. I have driven by their location for years and never paid it any mind. I see during the summers the purple balloons, but never had a need to stop by. Then I got my little Geena: if you don't know about Blue Heelers, they need lots of activity and socialization! So there it was... An opportunity to swing by! She goes there once a month for Day care, twice a month for Play hour and has Passed Puppy Preschool with their knowledgeable trainers. Very negative and punishment based approach to training. We really regret taking our dog here for puppy classes. The instructor seemed irritated when we asked questions after class and spent the majority of class with dogs with owners she'd worked with before. They also spend an entire class talking about "puppy nutrition" which just leads to them pushing their food that they conveniently sell at VVC. Find a place that will use reinforcement and praise and take the time to train your puppy with more individual attention. read more

This place is awesome! Was recommended by a friend who also trained with her dog there. They not only train you while training your dog they start each class with important information that every pet owner should know. I have had dogs for years but learned so much from them that I didn't know. Also, we boarded our dog at VVC when we were on vacation and they took such great care of her. The dogs aren't stuck in runs or crates but brought out for playtime with other dogs a couple of times during the day. I was even sent a picture of my doggie playing with some new buddies. And to anyone saying that they train with negative and punishment my question is what the heck are you talking about! That is as far from what I learned in my class. You train with praise. My dog will be taking classes here for a long time and getting her nails trimmed - they do a great job with that as well. I would give this place 10 stars if they were available! read more

We decided to give Valleyview a chance with helping us train our puppy because it had some good reviews on the web. However our actual experience was nothing like the reviews we had read. It was a very impersonal experience. No one at any time asked us what our goals were and what experience and prior training we had. It was a very cookie-cutter training program one-size-fits-all. And if you're a dog owner you understand that is not always appropriate. The demeanor towards the dogs was very cold and distant. Upon completion of the program only we were told by the trainer herself that 8 out of 10 of their trainees fail the class, meaning only 2 out of 10 pass to the next level. With that they ask you to repeat the class all over again with a very small discount that would amount to about $5 in savings. We were appalled by all of this and it just goes to show that it is a direct reflection of the trainer that 80% of her class does not pass to the next level. We were very diligent owners training every day in between classes and felt our puppy was doing very well and on par with the skills taught during the program. Would not recommend. read more

Carmen our boxer hound just got back from play group. It is nice to have this for her to burn off some energy & socialize with other dogs. Great to have this so close to home. We also really feel like she benefited from the training / obedience classes we had her take there. Their daycare comes in handy when needed. We have also used the boarding. I recommend everyone I know to take their dogs to Valley View Canine. I started there years ago with my dog to get some help with her dog aggressive behavior. After obedience classes and day care to help socialize her, she's an angel. And she loves going to "school". She gets so excited every time we drive by there. We've taken Obedience 1 thru 4 and Agility, as well as Advanced Agility. Plus other classes that have been offered through the years. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. And the owner, Lynette, is amazing with the dogs and their owners. They really know their stuff there. I feel safe and secure knowing my dog is in such good hands. I hated my experience there they were constantly week by week changing the time of class and for people who work that is very unreasonable and very unprofessional on their part! Having to adjust work schedules week by week is ridiculous and can make our employers very upset! I will NEVER go back to Valley View Canine this was my first time purchasing training classes and their services was the worst services imaginable! I will not ever recommend this location to anyone who asks me and if asked about this location I will strongly recommend not to ever purchase classes from this location! Our trainer did not guide us at all during our classes and in my opinion she was very rude and it was not a pleasure or good experience working with this trainer she kept repeating through out the six weeks that we should be greatly appreciative that they were able to fit in an extra class that was very rude and unnecessary for her to keep repeating it we all paid 120 dollars for that class they still received their money they should not be throwing it in our face constantly that they made an extra class no they got their money!
