I like this store and their 3 location. Good selection of all different types of items. My only complaint is that I was given a gift card that says Valley Thrift Store on the front of it. I went to the Fairfield location, picked out a few items, went to check-out and was told I couldn't use the gift card at that location. I could only use it at the Reading Rd. store. There are 3 Valley Thrift Stores and I assume under the same ownership, but if you get a gift card it can only be used at 1 location?...that's crazy. read more

This is absolutely is the bestest restaurant chain I have ever been to. Quite possibly everything and anything you want they have! And the thing that sets them apart are their prices... They sell things for $0.09, $0.29, $0.69? Yes! I'm not just talking about a wrinkly old toy, I'm talking sequin sweater vest for all the seasons, Jean overalls from somebody somewhere along the road, and they also have some great things behind their counter like jewelry and collectibles. Be prepared to browse and go through the rocks however. Things are not laid out super organized so they do have everything organized by mens and womens and pants are all together, suit jackets are all together and so on. My absolute favorite part are the several rows of home good stuff. They do a fantastic job of continually putting things out and if you go on a Tuesday, there will be nothing left because Monday is everything in the entire store is 25% off!! How can you go wrong? I love finding awesome clothing here. Sometimes I find vintage which is my style. But..... the customers that shop here and employees are beyond rude!!!! I dont think ive ever even seen one of them smile. I try to smile at them and I get an evil look back. The managers yell all the time on or off PA system. I was accused of stealing here and I was livid! I walked in just to look at lamps and wasnt interested in any and went to walk out and the buzzer went off. About 3 employees run over to me, and I tell them, its probably my keys or phone. Thats all I had in my hand and the manager asked me to empty my pockets!!!! You cannot accuse a person of stealing! My family works in retail and they cant even follow the person out the door. I was so mad, I looked at the manager, who im sure was a felon herself which is why she worked at valley and said you cannot accuse me of being a thief and walked out. I had a customer push me and my cart out of the way to get to an item on the rack. Lets just say, ive been so close to punching people. Lol. Deals are great but when its a sale day! Store gets trash, which Is to be expected. Children run around, scream, throw things at people and parents do not care or discipline. I have found awesome clothes and thats the only good thing. I give 1 star because of employees. It would probably kill them to be polite. If you are an employee who works there and is miserable. Leave. Im sure mcdonalds would hire you and you wont lose your welfare assistance and my tax dollars can keep paying for your rude attitude. read more

Not bad. A lot of selection which seems to be constantly restocked. The items I purchased were clean and looked hardly worn. Do watch for mis-sized items especially on designer brands. A Chico's size 2 (which is actually closer to a medium was sized as an xxl on the price tag which was stapled over the size tag on the garment). Very crowded even on weekday mornings. Lines can be long. Skip the toy section. Toys filthy and sets are not complete. Store was overall clean, and I had no problem with the staff. No returns accepted. read more

Like the Valley Thrift on Reading, this store is a mega thrift store, with aisles and aisles of everything. Having lived in the Los Angeles/NYC/bay area, I can honestly say I've never seen anything like this, that is, until I moved to Ohio. Same deals apply here as with the Reading location...25% off Mondays, 50% sale days. Those tend to be super busy. A friend commented though that she felt those days also had the least treasures...like staff hold back merchandise on those days. Who knows. I still manage to find lots of things for cheap! Children's selection I felt wasn't as good as the Reading location, but I did like the cookware section more. Given that it's a thrift store, I'm sure this can change at a moment's notice depending on what's in stock. If I'm in the area, I will definitely be stopping in again. Also, this location has huge amounts of parking. I might come here just for the that! read more

I just want to let you know that your employees are rude as fuck. I was in your store today and every time I came across an employee they would stop in front of my cart and stare at me until I moved out of their way. At one point I was in an aisle and one employee stopped right in front of me so I pushed my cart over and started to look at something. Two more employees then circled around me. One said excuse me, as I turned around she grabs my cart and pushes it down the aisle. With my keys and wallet in it. Then rolled her eyes and started talking about me to the other employees. Then I left that aisle and went to another where two employees stood their doing nothing and cussing up a storm. In front of kids and everything. This type of behavior went on the entire time I was in your store. I won't be coming back. read more

Ok, traveled 30 miles to go here, because of the other reviews. If you like bottom feeding then this place is for you. It is dirty and full of junk. The workers there wear scrubs and masks to process the "products". Not an impressive sight. I picked out a couple of pieces of electronics and none of them worked. The food processing products where not in great shape either. The strangest thing was the pricing many small items were priced "9", not "99" or ".99" just "9". Strange. They get 2 stars from me today due to the denseness and hardheaded attitude of a couple employees at the register. They have recently installed a new credit card system. My bill was around $7.72. The machine charged my card for $2.52 and said that I needed to pay cash for the rest of the bill. I said this is a credit card I shouldn't have to pay cash. I was told that I must be over my credit limit. I told her that there is no way and she told me that I was and that the machine is new and it had to be on my fault. She called over the manager or head cashier and we proceeded to go around and around them telling me that no way is it their machine that it is new and I am over my credit limit. Then they said well maybe someone has stolen my credit info and ran up my card. Then I started getting worried they may be right. I called my credit card company as I was walking out the door. There was absolutely no problem with my account. I was embarrassed being told I was over my limit in front of other customers and then being upset that maybe my account was compromised. Wow. I wonder if they had it happen to other people but I guess not since the new system was perfect to people who think they are so smart when they aren't. read more

OMG. I just went to my first 50% holiday sale at the Fairfield Valley Thrift Store and it was crazy busy. The huge parking lot was full and there weren't even any shopping carts left. Actually, there was nothing left hardly merchandise wise. I was disappointed. All these crowds for just the Martin Luther King Day sale?!?! I would hate to see it on a sale day near the holidays. The shelves were already bare by the time I got there around 2 pm. They opened early at 8, so I guess you have to be there when the doors open if you want the good stuff. I was just there a few days ago and I can't believe how bare the shelves were compared to then. I have been visiting the store several times lately and the selection was sooo much better on those days. Nothing left today. Nothing good. I'm thinking it's much better to go on a regular day, pay a few more dollars because there's actually cute stuff there you want to buy and it's worth it. What good is a sale day if there's hardly anything there worth getting?? It was interesting to see the piles and piles of stuff some people were buying. An immigrant man had an overflowing cart full of shoes he was buying of all kinds. Unless he had a shoe fetish, probably reselling somewhere. I did manage to snag a cute lamp for cheap and a shirt. I wonder also where all their stuff comes from. It seems like they get oodles and oodles of things all the time but you never hear them asking for donations. Goodwill asks for donations but the ones around here don't have the large selection compared to Valley Thrift (on non-sale days). My advice: skip the sale days, unless you like crowds and bad selection read more
