This was my favorite to-go thrift experience. Super reasonable prices, clothes and merchandise always neat and organized by style and size. I don't know what has changed but it's a hot mess now. First of all the prices have almost doubled. Someone there seems to be trolling EBAY for pricing. I heard the owner passed and now it's being run by the son, not sure if that is correct. No thank you, I'll pass on $4.99 for a used bottle of body scrub or $19.99 for a used Adidas/Nike shirt. Your much better off going to Plato's, garage sales or getting new summer clearance than paying these prices on used clothing. Second, clothes are all mixed up, the men's section is the worst. Polo shirts with long sleeved, shorts with pants, sizes totally out of order, clothes hanging backward, clothes on floor and thrown about. You have to go through everything to find the sizes and styles now because everything is so mixed up. Probably, because the young people are too busy flirting and setting up dates in the aisles (yes I overheard this) looking at themselves in the mirror or dilly-dallying around. The place looks unkempt. Huge disappointment especially since it was such a great place to shop before. Go on 1/2 prices holidays and then the prices will be somewhat reasonable. read more

Please take my word when I say this place is not a good place to shop at. Here's why... They treat their employees like trash (they have horrible conditions and no safety measures in place) and that's why there's so much turnover. Get ready for the nasty part... When they take the clothes as donations they do absolutely nothing with them as far as cleaning. They just put them right out on the floor and trust me... They definitely have bed bugs. Had to experience it myself. Not fun. Please... I'm actually seriously begging you people not to give this place your business. Go to the other location in Fairfield or a different store all together. These people do not deserve to have any customers. read more

This is location (and the one in Fairfield) are the BEST thrift stores in the tri-state area. Yes, you MAY have to dig to find something, but that is normal for MOST thrift stores. A few weeks ago I went & ended up buying a roll-top desk made by Disney (for $10 & in good shape...little dents, scuffs, etc.) & being disabled I had to have assistance which was immediately given without complaint or grumbling by the staff member. The last time I went I scored a 24" RCA LED TV for $12-to use as a secondary monitor (also as a screen to take w/me to test electronics before purchase); a PS3 (CFW compatible-something I kept an eye out for, but was unwilling to spend a whole lot on) for $20; & a HP Media Center Laptop (500 GB HDD, I5-2nd gen., 8 GB RAM; dedicated NVIDIA graphics card); & w/its Media Center Remote (Boots to Windows 7 Home) when I get the chance I'll upgrade it. I don't understand why some reviews are saying prices are high & customer service was bad...I have NEVER thought that that was the case and when I lived in Hamilton, OH thought about applying to work there (the Fairfield location). read more

A friend of mine recommend this store to me so on my way back from Clifton taking route 42 up to Evendale I stopped by. This store is better then all the other thrift store in Cincinnati (Gabes, TJ Maxx, Marshalls. Everything is reasonable priced with some stuff being less then $1. Will definitely go back on a Monday for 25% off or a holiday for 50% off. Purchased a north face jacket $3.99 and a St. Louis Rams shirt $0.69 and satisfied with condition and quality of each. Thinking about the wonder that is Valley Thrift's book section sends shivers down my spine. I've been going to thrift stores since I've been in the womb, and I can honestly say this is the best book selection I've ever seen. Prices range from .29-3.99, but most are in the .99 range, and they have some genuinely good books on their shelves. It's like the mecca of second-hand paperback. When I die, I wanna be interned between an old Dean Koontz novel and "In the Kitchen the Costco Way". Seriously. That's going in my will. read more

Favorite thrift store around, hands down. I've gotten some amazing sweaters there, and they almost always have good cameras. This place is disgusting! I walked in to the changing room to try on some clothes, that smelled bad. I walked in to the changing room and a women showed me what changing room to go in to, and I noticed another man walking in with who I assumed work their. Every time I walk into a check the mirrors for see threw Mirrors, and when I checked I noticed no gap when I did the test which tells you their see threw. My wife and I are Avid Costumer/Cosplayers. We tend to make most of our own costumes or alter outfits to our taste. Valley Thrift never fails to have what we need to complete our costumes. The vintage fashions are everywhere you look and you can also occasionally find old military uniforms! as most of the reviewers have said, it's usually packed. this isn't a thrift store for the timid of heart. the isles are narrow and packed with shoppers and staff, but if you know what you are looking for and have the time to look, you can usually find everything you came for I hit up almost every second-hand store in town for supplies, but Valley is the top of the list for quality and selection read more

Scored a Pioneer DVD 5-disc changer, a Crate bass amp that works perfectly (Not kidding, a Crate for ten bucks), and three computers; one broken and to be parted, one barely working, and one that only had a nonfunctioning CD drive, but otherwise works like clockwork. Be careful buying any Dells, check inside for bulging caps; the dreaded Capacitor Plague. It happens and is fixable. All for $70, go on Mondays for the 25% discount. I've visited this store many times and had great experiences, but due to an absolutely rude and nasty employee I will not go back. I was looking for the bathroom and they are right near the dressing rooms, I was trying to discern what line was what and this employee yelled at me in front of a dozen people that there was a line for the bathroom. I gave Valley Thrift 2 stars because I went on a half price day, and it was like going shopping after Thanksgiving! I was told I should get there early because the parking lot would be full by 8am, which it was, I got there at 6am, by 8am it was packed, and there were two lines of people waiting to go in the store, at least 100 people. I was like the 5th person in line. There are two doors going into the store, so you would think they would open both doors at 8am to accomodate both lines of people. At 8am they only unlocked one door, and there was a bumrush litterally to get into the store to get a cart! The staff did not assist in making it easier, they just let the customers do what they wanted to do to get a cart. It was pretty dangerous for the first 15 minutes, but after that it calmed down, the store was packed, but everyone was very cordial, the lines were so long, but the cashiers were very friendly, but I won't be going there again on a half price day. read more

Loved my visit there. I grab a real silver platter for $2 and a lamp table for $5 (It didn't have a scratch on it)! Not to mention the clothes. I saw a review that gives one star and complains that the store is not great, I don't know them but am very shocked at that review. Thrift stores are what they say they are "Thrift". I don't walk into them expecting to find high end hand me downs?!? I bought a few pair of jeans, one was "White House Black Market", if you don't what that is google it. They are not cheap jeans and I got them for $2! Also, there were lots of clothes with tags still on them. TONS of name brands. I gave only 4 stars for 2 reasons: the staff is not friendly, that is true but they are NON stop working I don't think they have time to be friendly?!? IDK, the 2nd reason is I felt the men's clothing could have more. They had very little men's clothing when I was there and hopefully they have built that up! read more

They have silly rules. I do not understand why if an item is not priced they can't mark it until the next day. There are plenty of staff there marking other items. The staff is often rude as if you're lucky to be allowed to shop there. read more

I'm sorry, but if you think this is a great thrift store, then you obviously haven't BEEN to a great thrift store. It's no better organized than any other, in fact it may be worse. The merchandise certainly is worse. Most of it is past due for the dumpster. Clothing is just ok, nothing special. Lots of way out of date decor and household items. Low quality to begin with and now it's used. My theory is that people of means donate more frequently to well known entities such as Goodwill and St. Vincent de Paul, therefore you get better quality. I'm not sure where this merchandise comes from or why. It's mostly just yard sale junk. Been there several times and it is always the same. A waste of time; I won't be going back. read more

Tonight after shopping at the valley Thrift Store on Reading Rd. With receipt in hand I was stopped at the door as I left for a "Shake Down", which I refused. I told the employee if you think I have taken something call the police. as I walked out to my car, they followed me. The Evendale Police Dept showed up, I explained the situation and handed him my receipts. I was released with a hand shake , I aplogilzed for having the store call them out. I shop here two or three times a week to furnish two rental homes that I have. I refused to be abused at the door as I leave. Tonight i was told by the manage not to come back. This is their loss as they have lost a frequent coustomer as well as I will not donate anything to this cause. The Screaming over the PA system is ear shattering and in two languages. read more

It is 4th of July, and wonder if Valley Thrift Store still has the half price special. I live in Texas and always loved shopping with my Sister on this day......Great store. The store, we were able to get large amounts of goods for about $40 and my friends and I were able to bond over some of the items as they will bring us joy for years to come. This is a small amount of my 5 star recommendation, the majority of the rating is the staff. The staff at this establishment is the best I've ever seen. They are kind and care for your happiness. My friend lost his wallet, and after he realized this we rushed back, spent 45 minutes looking for it 40 minutes of it assisted by the staff. They were very kind and tried everything they could to find the wallet, at one point they even rolled back the security footage to see what had happened. The entire time the staff was being extremely kind and helping us in any way they can. My only regret is that I can't give a specific recommendation to those employees. I love this store, I now love the staff as well. I highly recommend this store. read more

The people who work there are so rude and mean and inflexible it's not even funny. I was a caregiver for many years and thus almost never got to go out. One day a visitor watched my dad and gave me a couple of hours out. I went up to the Valley Thrift Store to walk around and found 3 things I wanted. One of them didn't have a price tag on it, so they wouldn't sell it to me. They said people like me (really?) took the price tags off to get them at a cheaper price. I assured the cashier I didn't want to rip them off, told her of my caregiving situation and asked her if they could charge me for it at the highest price they price their items at to assure their safety and my satisfaction, because it might be a year before I'd be able to get out and shop again. I've never been talked to so badly, so I left without buying anything. I called the store the next day and got the corporate office address and phone number. I wrote a letter and told them my story and suggested if the price tag was missing to charge it at the highest price. That ended up being just as ugly. I would never talk to someone that had just told me they were a round the clock caregiver and could rarely get out of the house the way those awful people talked to me, but then again - I wouldn't talk to any one that way. read more
