I have to share how awesome this neighborhood market is, first it has an amazing cafe inside the market, this is now our designated Saturday morning breakfast place, the menudo and breakfast burritos are excellent and the service is great! OMG!! The carnitas! So good! They have the crispy edges I want in carnitas. The rice, beans and red tamales are also so good. Very much the flavors you'd find from a beloved grandma's home cooking. So delicious. I have yet to find carnitas that good from a local restaurant. read more

We have been going to this location for several years to purchase MENUDO, but yesterday's MENDO was the worst we've ever had . it was extremely greasy and had about 5 pieces of meat and about 2 teaspoons of hominy!! We actually used a strainer!! We asked for MENUDO and paid for it; however we were SOLD MENUDO SOUP!! EXTREMELY unsatisfactory! Just a little grocery shop on the westside. Any place that sells real tortillas (not that mass produced American crap that is so thick you can't even taste anything rolled inside) is golden in my eyes. Valley Supermarket has a couple of different brands of tortillas, some produce, a few other products, a butcher section and some hot food available. It's no Pro Ranch Market, but it gets the job done. read more

This place was our go to for menudo and bolillos and we enjoyed it for years. Lately though, we are very disappointed with the quality being offered. Menudo had very little meat and bolillos have been bland. I hope they step it up soon or we may have to find another place. read more

Menudo today was super gross. Literally like 4 pieces of hominy and all the meat was pata. Had ordered one large to go. It was so greasy. I went and got it around 9:45 am so it wasn't late in the day which would explain getting the last bits. Waste of money since it went in the garbage. Had to make scrambled egg at home and ate the bread. I was used to going there for convenience, but will find somewhere else for next time. read more

I like this meat market (as I call it) small but very friendly employees in the kitchen and checkout, also the bakery. Bread is very good and the price per piece of bread is reasonable. I can also get Mexican squash that is of a way better quality compared to Walmart where it turns black after a couple of days. I liked buy my cilantro and chicharron for frijoles charros here also. If your looking for Mexican chips they have Sabritas and Cheetos like the colmillos. If you like to use Dulce de pilloncillo this is where I prefer to buy mine. I think my only concern is a lot flies when you sit down to eat . read more

I went a couple of months ago and not only were they rude and condescending but the lady had fake nails and did not wear any gloves when handling our food. This place need to get inspected more often to ensure they are following proper food handling procedures. read more

They are a full service market, but their butcher case is extensive, and they are always happy to provide a custom cut when I don't see what I want in the case. Very good selection of meats. They will also cook them up and grill them for you by the pound. The grilled chicken breasts are awesome.The burritos are great if you are looking to pick up food. Shrimp cocktail really hits the spot. The people behind the counter are always very polite and helpful. Only complaint is the owner mad dogs my wife and I every time we are in there. We usually go on Sundays after the gym around 3. He is there eating with his family and they ALWAYS give my wife and I a look of disgust. We have been going there for almost a year so have sported attire that included tank tops all the way up to sweater tops. I guess they just don't like people that work out. But if you don't mind being looked at disapprovingly....... It is a really good place to pick up some food. read more

Sorry. I really wanted this to be a butcher shop like I knew back east. Sadly, it is not. Bought sirloins that were 1/4 inch thick (if even that). Grilled them and they were like shoe leather. Had to cut off a lot of too. I felt totally out of place and not exactly welcome. Oh well. I guess it is back to ordering from Omaha steaks for me. read more

It has its high and low points. We bought sirloin for a BBQ which I understand isn't the best choice to grill but it was a bit tough and very fatty. We were also considering getting lunch here but their food was sitting out behind a counter like a type of cafeteria deal. Not a fan of food sitting out so took a pass. Later in the week came to get pan dulce, bolillos, and tortillas. The tortillas were very good, warm, and fluffy. Bolillos were good as well but not as good as Juarez. Their selection of pan dulce was impressive and pretty good but again not like Juarez. Their orejas were not as sweet and too flakey. Their conchas and other pastries were good and fresh. read more

Quickest Menudo Take out on the Westside. Most affordable when you take your own Hoya. Very clean Meat Market & Mini-Mart. It also has a clean and spacious eating area so you have the option of having your menudo there or selecting another item from their menu, such as burritos or comida corrida. read more

I am extremely disappointed with Valley Supermarket on Resler. Just purchased a ham, egg and bean burrito and bit into a plastic top from a water bottle. How can a plastic top be in a burrito where the egg was scrambled with ham and put into the burrito? There is no way the cook could have missed a bottle cap falling into the burrito. I feel it was a deliberate act. This experience was very disturbing and I reported it to the Manager - Oscar Barron. I do not recommend anyone to eat at this business. - A. Dominguez read more
