Pho Bac Cafe is unrelated to the Pho Bac in Seattle, but don't let that dissuade you. This shop is an underrated gem that offers delicious pho in a no frills environment. 1/FOOD. The Pho Tai (rare beef pho) is amongst the top 3 in the Seattle area. The broth is clean yet flavorful. Not too oily or meaty. The rare beef is flavorful and generously portioned. You can also get other types of pho including chicken pho! 2/SERVICE AND AMBIANCE. It's a mom and pop shop. No frills. You get menus and water. You tell them your order. You get the food with utensils. If you want more water, raise your hand to wave someone down. When you're done, pay at the register. There are many seats but it's busy by 1130AM most days for lunch. 3/VALUE. Very good value for the quality of pho. You can choose between 3 sizes. Obviously the value increases for the larger sizes, but the small bowl is still affordable at $15. Lots of noodles, meats, and vegetables.

The fried spring rolls satisfied my craving for crunchiness. And best part...not at all hip or trendy. Not a single hipster or foodie in sight. Its all about the food.

Service was fast and efficient, we grabbed some items from the cart and ordered some as well. Tea for my husband and myself, water for everyone (plenty of refills). Kids enjoyed it- green beans, radish cake, soup dumplings, pork buns, shrimp noodle, shrimp and chive dumpling, spare ribs. I thought the quality was good and it was so nice to have a quick weekend lunch since the kids were hungry. The service was very attentive and the dim sum was good! Plenty of round tables for larger groups, too.

Unfortunately, I didn't notice the rancid smell until it was too late and she had already eaten two of them. She got extremely sick... And the filthy condition of this restaurant absolutely blows my mind that people still come here. It's disgusting. And I gotten reports from my neighbors that they've also gotten food poisoning from this place. I will admit that it's hard to resist all day dim sum at decent pricing, so I can see why people still come here for the food prices alone but if you value your health and your stomach, I do not recommend coming here.

At exactly 6:40 PM, received the delivery order at my residence. Food was still warm and portions were more than adequate. Solid 3.5/5. Food…read more(2.5-4/5). We had 4 grilled pork vermicelli with egg rolls, 1 pho tai with beef meatballs, and 1 spring rolls. Vermicelli was a 3.5 as it was fresh and a good serving (4) but the grilled pork was on the cooler side and didn't taste as crisp and fresh off the grill as you'd expect (3). Best part of the pho was the broth as it wasn't too salty like it can be sometimes elsewhere (4). Veggies were super fresh. Sliced beef was previously sliced and the whole chunk was placed in so you had to tease apart the slices from each other which was a little different than my experiences elsewhere. SKIP THE SPRING ROLLS. Picture had three shrimps/roll. Ours had 1/roll on one side with a slice of pork (I think) on the other. Seemed pretty skimpy if you ask me (2.5 at best). Service was good (4). Location was in a small strip mall with a Mexican and Indian place next door. The bars over nearly the entire front storefront were definitely interesting. For an out-of-towner, this part of Kent seems like a Santa Ana/Westminister/Garden Grove of OC, CA kind of an area with different ethnic offerings up and down the street.

The only issue I had is they had a TV playing very loud much that took a bit to get over. Moving on the food was spectacular and started with Pork Belly in hot garlic sauce and truly enjoyed the texture and flavor. It's a cold dish but well worth the try. Moving on ordered Crispy & Spicy Tofu and Hot Spicy Beef Chow Mein. Both were really good. The tofu was a little drive but chili oil on it and that fixed it for me. The spicy beef was really tender and noodle were perfect. They seem to do a lot of take out but there were plenty of people eating in. Will be back!!

By calling to place the order, each dish is about $1 cheaper than if you order online from the google site. After I called, I got a text message with status updates which was really cool. Food was ready right on time for the time slot I wanted. Dishes that were good: Short ribs like the Garlic Short Ribs and the Short Ribs in Brown Sugar. General Tso's Chicken. Mongolian beef. Dishes that were meh: beef and broccoli (broccoli was overcooked, too soft), the Black Mushroom in Vegetable was oily. Baby Bak Choy in white sauce was greasy-ish. Pork in Peking sauce was waaay overcooked and tough. Orange Chicken was not great. For a large takeout, it's convenient and the prices are fair. But nobody cared for the food in our party.

Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. No complaints at all about what came out of the kitchen. Now... the rest of the experience. We were seated about 30 minutes after our reservation time, which on Valentine's Day I understand can happen. It's busy. It's high volume. But when you take reservations, there's an expectation that timing is at least somewhat respected. Then we were placed at a table about 18 inches from a side door. I'm not exaggerating when I say if I moved my arm out even slightly, I hit the wall. The table next to us was less than two feet away. On a night that's supposed to feel intimate, it felt cramped and rushed. Not romantic. Not relaxed. Just tight. It honestly felt like too many reservations were accepted for the space available. I get maximizing a holiday, but there has to be a balance. Capping reservations and planning seating a little better would've made a big difference in the overall experience. Again, the food? Strong. The atmosphere that night? Way too packed for comfort. If the seating had matched the quality of the kitchen, it would've been a top-tier Valentine's dinner. I reached out directly to the restaurant and after my email was read numerous times between now and then with no response, I am leaving this review.
