Ask the Community - Valley Preparatory School

Where do children go to high school when they graduate from vps?

Hi Tricia, Most of our students usually attend the local public high schools, Redlands High School and Redlands East Valley, but a handful also attend some of the area private schools and boarding schools as well.

The registration process was smooth and easy, and I really appreciated all the classes, resources, and support offered to parents. As a first-time homeschool family, I had so many questions, and the one-on-one guidance we received helped us learn the apps, understand the systems, and get both of my boys comfortably settled in. The teachers my sons had in 4th and 5th grade have been absolutely wonderful. They have been supportive, encouraging, and truly made a difference in our experience. I have also been very impressed with the IEP support. The team reached out early, guided us through the process, and has been incredibly helpful throughout. We felt supported from the beginning. One of my favorite things is the transparency and technology. Parents have real-time access to student calendars, assignments, grades, and progress, which makes it so easy to stay involved and support our children. The materials, technology, communication, and overall support have been outstanding. Most importantly, I've seen such a positive change in both of my boys academically. We are truly grateful for Sage Oak and all they have done for our family.

My child on other occasions did homework with a classmate, yet got a low grade. This school has gone downhill with a lot of things, and will allow your child to fail. There interventions are a waste of time, they are not helpful and more of just asking questions about the homework itself, not really what you would call tutoring at all. Look into other Charter Schools! Do not waste your time!

The Staff, from the principal on down, care about each and every child at the school. They strive to make sure each student succeeds and flourishes in their preparation for the future. If you want to see the love and school spirit in action, look no further than the morning assembly. During assembly students' birthdays are recognized as well as athletic and scholastic achievements. Every assembly ends with a wonderful, uplifting song by the very talented music teacher. Starting the school day this way leads to a great feeling and positive mood for all. I will miss the morning assembly when my son graduates next May. So, if you are looking for a school for your child that has strong academically and spiritually, look no further and Sacred Heart Academy. There is a very good reason why this school is the oldest in the Inland Empire (over 124 years and going).

I felt that the disciplinary…read morestandards were applied inconsistently, and I often had the impression that some students received more scrutiny than others. In my family's experience, my sister seemed to be singled out more often, which left us feeling that she wasn't being treated fairly. The vice principal, Mrs. Mazo, often singled out my sister for how she looked, with her saying, "You stick out more because you are blonde." After getting dress coded for her cross necklace that was tucked into her shirt. Rather than feeling supported, we felt judged, and it created a negative environment that made it difficult to enjoy being at the school. I hope the administration takes concerns about fairness and equal treatment seriously so future students have a better experience than we did.

Redlands Adventist Academy is a great Christian K-12 school. What makes this school different from…read moreother religious schools are the small class sizes, the caring spirit and the overall student body and parents that are kind and united in the goal of quality eduction. I've put three children in RAA and have been very satisfied with the supportive staff and camaraderie on campus. Tuition prices are reasonable for a private school and the benefits for your children are unquantifiable compared to the costs/downside of public education. With about 400 students, it's easy for the students to get on sports teams and not feel lost in the shuffle. Transfer students will be welcomed with open arms, as was my son who transferred from public school into 9th grade after witnessing the drugs, violence, and peer pressure that's tolerated in public school. For him, it was a life changing experience when he joined this school and it turned his life around completely. Sports are a big part of RAA and their soccer program has recently been a stand out, earning several championships at the middle school level. Redlands Academy has been a bright spot for Christian education in the Inland Empire for over 100 years and I would highly recommend this school to any family.

We wanted her to be in a place where she would not only be safe and loved, but where she could also learn, grow, and thrive developmentally. We toured several daycares throughout Riverside, and none of them came close to the level of comfort, trust, and peace of mind we felt the moment we walked into The Learning Experience in Redlands. From the incredible leadership of Miss Shannon and Miss Heather to every single teacher and teacher's aide, every person at this school has made a lasting impact on our family, especially on our daughter. They have loved her, encouraged her, celebrated her milestones, and helped shape her into the confident, curious, and kind little girl she is today. Special shout out to Miss Jackie, Miss Vanessa, Miss Ariana, Miss Miranda, Miss Kim! As a parent, leaving your child with someone else is never easy. But The Learning Experience made that transition so much easier by giving us complete confidence that our daughter was in the best hands. That kind of trust is priceless. As our daughter heads off to TK, it's incredibly bittersweet to say goodbye. We are so grateful for the love, patience, and dedication every member of this team has shown our family over the years. Please continue doing what you're doing because it's truly making a difference in the lives of children and their families. We will miss this school more than words can express.
