(These have since been discontinued because apparently they were a Bad Idea and failed with alarming regularity.) I did not know that prior to my visit to Caltec. They ran a bunch of tests, diagnosed the drive as the problem, removed the drive, tried to recover data, and were unable to do so. They pointed me at DriveSavers, made a few very helpful recommendations, and refused my efforts to compensate them "because they were unable to fix my problem."
