This school took over $12,000 for my Long Haul Class 1 and they can not / will not supply my remaining pre-paid driving hours or a refund !! Since my lesson of October 12/21 and only after threatening to notify both the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and commence legal action for not allowing training of these prepaid hours I've again waited another 7.5 weeks only to receive 2 short lessons THIS IS NOT COMMERCIAL TRUCK TRAINING AT ALL I'm still owed around 60 hours, with them refusing any driving time or refund THIS IS NOT AT ALL WHAT I had PREPAID FOR, OR WAS PROMISED TO RECEIVE AS A STUDENT OF NORTH SHORE DRIVING SCHOOL !! Both instructors hate each other, bickering constantly and unprofessionally creating a lot of anxiety for students The only person that knows anything in that company is the driving instructor Jeremy He's great, but unfortunately you don't get to stay with him Judy the owner answers the phone putting on a good front, but really just doesn't care once you pay It seems to be a regular thing to have upset students, failing their road test or just walking off screaming about the lack of professional quality from their lessons in the parking lot Not only is the management neglectful and unwilling to resolve or accommodate student issues, but they just don't seem to care at all I've gotten emails from North Shore Driving Schools saying they are aware of the major staff concerns, disagreements and arguments but further stating they have no one to replace him with October 12, 2021 I was squished into a road test with very little training I showed up as scheduled, 2 hours prior to my test to do some hands on driving and pre-trip inspection Lorrie, the instructor I've complained numerous times about, refused to let me practice driving insisting that he will drive, ensuing a huge argument between us for 2 hours, just prior to my test This infuriated me, I was so mad and distracted from what I was there to do I failed my test, mainly because I never latched my back trailer door properly during my pre-trip. Then doing a break tug, examiner knew it wasn't latched properly, Dangerous move, automatic fail Because of this, I must now take the FULL MELT COURSE with zero hours credited elsewhere North Shore Driving Schools position is that you failed the driving test and we are not currently offering the MELT Program so there is nothing more we can do for you It's my position, they are the reason I failed in the first place by creating among other thing a hostile training environment. Secondly why can't I still train with my pre-paid driving hours or have them refunded ? A further $12,000 later, I've signing up for MELT at a different, much more organized MELT Driving School I will be starting in the New Year Truth be told they have no qualified instructors to work with them to let the crappy one of two go It's my opinion the trucks are both unsafe and in need of serious repair This is on top of all the other things I've mentioned going on at North Shore Driving Schools From what I understand they were again getting evicted from their parking lot and very close to bankruptcy NEEDLESS TO SAY THEY ARE FOR SALE Good luck with that !! I took lessons from Rain and Robert - they are both very good instructors. They are both gentle and nice, and taught me really well about how to drive safely. They also clarified my questions I had for flow of traffic , intersection, reference point and road rules. I also like the fact that they are consistent with the car they drive -so even when I was with different instructor, I was able to drive consistently. The administration was also fast and efficient. I can pay the lesson via cheque or email transfer and I can can easily book lessons via text or email.

Now, I drive occasionally but fear my inexperience makes me more of a danger on the road. So I was nervous about my Class 5 road test, especially with only ten days to practice before the date. My sister got me in touch with Parmot and I immediately felt more at ease. Parmot knew everything about the test centre, the neighbourhood, and every point I would be evaluated on. He made me feel much more confident in my ability to pass the test. More importantly, he made me a better driver. He spotted all the bad habits I'd picked up from learning to drive without a qualified instructor. He got me started on replacing them with better ones--even though, of course, you can only do so much in ten days. I recommend Parmot highly for drivers who suffer with nerves or anxiety. he has a skill for recognizing when learners are getting stressed out and applying just the right amount of pressure to keep them improving without getting overwhelmed. Even when I sometimes struggled to catch certain words because of his accent, he was always patient and persistent in explaining the procedures until I understood them. Everything about the process was easy. Parmot accommodated my tight schedule by giving me five lessons in ten days. We started and ended each lesson at my address. The lessons were ninety minutes each but on many occasions, such as when we got stuck in traffic going out, he sacrificed more of his time to make sure I had trained the skills I needed to. On the day of the test, it was a Richmond blizzard! This was a surprise to everyone. The front desk clerk told us there had been a few no-shows that day by the time we arrived. Thanks to all my preparation and the confidence I gained with Parmot's guidance, I was able to keep a cool head for the test despite the curveball and I passed it with three minor notes. The smell alone makes it hard to focus, which is kind of important when you're trying to learn how to drive safely. You're stuck in this enclosed space, already nervous, and instead of feeling calm or supported, you're just trying to ignore how unpleasant it is to even be there. Then there's the actual "teaching." Brett constantly uses the gas and brake pedals on his side, which completely defeats the purpose of learning. You never get a proper feel for the car because he's basically driving for you half the time. It makes you second guess everything and kills any confidence you're supposed to be building. What really stands out though is his behavior on the road. It's honestly shocking. He freaks out at other drivers over the smallest things, has terrible manners, and creates a tense, stressful environment instead of a safe learning space. I've seen and heard enough to understand why so many people say he'll flip off other drivers, then immediately deny it, twist the story, and escalate things by talking about calling the cops. There's a constant pattern of him saying one thing and then completely contradicting himself minutes later, which just adds to how uncomfortable the whole experience is. Driving lessons are supposed to make you feel more confident and prepared. Instead, this felt like being trapped in a car with someone who shouldn't be teaching at all. The worst part isn't even the driving, it's just having to sit there and deal with the entire experience. Honestly, I would not recommend iWay Driving School to anyone.
