(I had failed the road test part a month earlier using another driving school's vehicle.) I spent some of that hour familiarizing myself with their passenger van and then about 20 minutes driving it around the road test route area with Farooq before we arrived at the PoCo ICBC, which is conveniently only about five minutes from the school. (Skip operates the business from his home, but don't let that influence your decision about whether to use their services--they've got a fleet of nice vehicles.) I had failed the road test a month earlier, in part because I didn't prepare adequately for the driving part of the test (I did pass the pre-trip inspection part, though) and in part because the van I used from the other school was a bit of a beater with a totally inadequate defrost that wouldn't defog the windows, which proved to be a significant distraction because it poured cats and dogs that day. Skip's van, on the other hand, is almost brand new and feels/performs like a charm. Even though it is longer than the other school's, it felt like I was driving a car, not a beast. That allowed me to concentrate entirely on the skills and I passed with flying colours.

Now, I drive occasionally but fear my inexperience makes me more of a danger on the road. So I was nervous about my Class 5 road test, especially with only ten days to practice before the date. My sister got me in touch with Parmot and I immediately felt more at ease. Parmot knew everything about the test centre, the neighbourhood, and every point I would be evaluated on. He made me feel much more confident in my ability to pass the test. More importantly, he made me a better driver. He spotted all the bad habits I'd picked up from learning to drive without a qualified instructor. He got me started on replacing them with better ones--even though, of course, you can only do so much in ten days. I recommend Parmot highly for drivers who suffer with nerves or anxiety. he has a skill for recognizing when learners are getting stressed out and applying just the right amount of pressure to keep them improving without getting overwhelmed. Even when I sometimes struggled to catch certain words because of his accent, he was always patient and persistent in explaining the procedures until I understood them. Everything about the process was easy. Parmot accommodated my tight schedule by giving me five lessons in ten days. We started and ended each lesson at my address. The lessons were ninety minutes each but on many occasions, such as when we got stuck in traffic going out, he sacrificed more of his time to make sure I had trained the skills I needed to. On the day of the test, it was a Richmond blizzard! This was a surprise to everyone. The front desk clerk told us there had been a few no-shows that day by the time we arrived. Thanks to all my preparation and the confidence I gained with Parmot's guidance, I was able to keep a cool head for the test despite the curveball and I passed it with three minor notes. As I said to him, "I couldn't have done it without you."

ROAD TEST: PASSSSSSS!!!!…read more Absolutely Grateful for My Experience with Gina at 604 Driving School! I can't recommend 604 Driving School enough, especially if you're lucky enough to take your lessons with Gina. I'm incredibly grateful that I had the opportunity to learn from her. Gina is an exceptional instructor who genuinely cares about her students' success, and her teaching style is something that sets her apart in the best way possible. From the very beginning, Gina's experience and attention to detail were crystal clear. She has the eye of a real road test examiner able to catch even the smallest mistakes that most would overlook. And the best part? She doesn't just point them out, she helps you fix them, patiently and thoroughly. Every error became a learning opportunity, and she would guide me through them step-by-step, often repeating the tricky parts of the test routes until I got it right. Speaking of test routes, Gina made sure I was thoroughly familiar with the common ones. This kind of preparation was invaluable and gave me such a huge boost in confidence. Her approach is structured, logical, and very goal oriented. She teaches you exactly what to do and, more importantly, why you're doing it. That reasoning makes all the difference, it helped me not just memorize, but actually understand road rules and safe driving habits. Gina was always approachable and incredibly responsive to even my tiniest questions. Whether I asked something during a session or via message later, she always took the time to explain things clearly. She even uses a whiteboard and has two adorable car shaped dusters, which she uses to demonstrate driving concepts visually. Beyond the in car lessons, Gina also went above and beyond by sending me messages with tips, practice areas, and personalized feedback. It felt like I had a coach constantly cheering me on and giving me every tool I needed to succeed. There's a reason why so many student drivers love learning from Gina and I can now say from experience that the glowing reviews are 100% genuine. Her dedication, knowledge, and the way she tailors each session to your needs make her an outstanding mentor. Thanks to Gina's thorough teaching and support, I passed my road test with flying colors! I'm so thankful for her guidance every step of the way. If you're looking for a driving school that truly prepares you, not just to pass, but to be a safe and confident driver, please choose 604 Driving School. And if you get the chance to learn from Gina, know that you're in the absolute best hands. SHE IS THE BEST!!!
