I want to sincerely thank Pacific Riding School for their support, kindness, and patience in helping me gain confidence and a real understanding of motorcycle riding. Before this course, I had never even sat on a motorcycle before. Through the 26-hour program, I went from knowing absolutely nothing to riding on the freeway, which still feels amazing to me. The instructors were encouraging, supportive, and very knowledgeable. They created a fun and engaging learning environment while also constantly emphasizing the safety, responsibility, and vulnerability that come with being a rider. I really appreciated that balance, because it felt not only helpful, but essential. One thing that stood out to me was how hands-on and patient the instructors were. For example, when some students had trouble understanding countersteering, the instructors would even have them sit on the back of their bike to demonstrate the concept in a way that made sense. That kind of teaching really shows how much they care about helping students truly understand, not just pass. They were also incredibly flexible and accommodating with my schedule, helping me customize my classes, book alternative times, add an extra traffic ride, and prepare with mock exams. A huge thank you to Kirsten for answering my many questions and helping with all my scheduling requests; to Kramer for the in-depth classroom theory and safety preparation; to Tony and Frank for being encouraging, kind, and strict in the best way to really whip us into shape on the lot; and to Michele and Reagan for polishing us up for the MST and preparing us for traffic riding. My five star rating for Pacific Riding School is no mistake. If you'll notice, this is my first post on Yelp and that's because this place was so impressive that I felt compelled enough to sign up just to leave them a review (even though I usually hate doing this sort of thing). My girlfriend and I recently enrolled for the night school classes at PRS, and we have since finished the course and recieved our full licenses through ICBC. The instructors that you'll find here are top notch and they take their teaching responsibilities seriously while staying incredibly friendly and approachable at the same time. You can tell that a great deal of thought has gone into putting the course together and that they've specifically tailored it in a way that will help their students actually absorb the content and stay safe on the road. This is a great contrast to some other courses that I've taken before where you are mostly just shown a bunch of slides and then left to your own devices to properly learn the material yourself. One of the main things that sold me on PRS is the amount of riding experience and the credentials that the instructors carry. To be a lead instructor here you have to have at least twenty (yes, twenty!) years of riding experience under your belt, and many of the instructors train annually at professional riding schools across North America to make sure that they stay on top of their game. Another thing that I want to mention is that every single staff member that I encountered at PRS was super friendly and helpful in their own right. All of their employees are happy to chat with you and answer any questions that you might have, even though he or she may not be your designated instructor. I highly recommend Pacific Riding School to anyone who is interested in learning how to ride properly and safely. Not only will you learn how to pass the MSA Test and ICBC Road Test but you will also learn how to keep yourself safe on the road. This course is amazing with so much work put into it. I just finished my six day course with Chris Fuchs and he was absolutely amazing! He is a very good teacher with a lot of knowledge about riding but also brings a lot of fun and humor to the class. I started this course with absolutely no riding experience and by the end of it, I felt like a confident safe rider. On the last day, we rode down to Granville Island and throughout parts of Vancouver. I would have never imagined on the first day that I would have been able to do that. Each class is packed with so many useful tips that will keep you alive on the road. I can't believe that this course isn't mandatory by ICBC. All the bikes and riding gear are high quality products that are up to date and the facility is awesome! All the employees are very friendly and super helpful with any questions you may have. I started my course on October 15th, 2012 and I am now writing this review on October 23rd, 2012. In only one week: -I started out with my Learners Permit with no riding experience on Monday -Passed my MSA Test on Thursday -Got lucky and booked a last minute cancellation in Surrey for the day after my course on Monday the following week -Passed my Full Road Test on Tuesday I guarantee everyone who is still reading this that this course is worth every penny. Don't cheap out and try teaching yourself. In the long run would you rather pay the course fee and learn how to become a confident/safe driver or possibly end up dead? I'm really glad we chose to do our riding course with PRS. This is not the school for you if you just want to get your MSA and start riding. Don't get me wrong.......you will get your MSA......but this is the lowest rung of the ladder for the instructors here. They don't just teach you how to pass your test, that's relatively easy. They teach you how to stay alive on the roads, that isn't as easy and there is a lot more to it than you think. The instructors are some of the friendliest and patient people you can meet and everyone of them have a wealth of knowledge and experience on the road and on the track. Dat, Tony and Taro will push you to challenge yourself and to push your boundaries during the parking lot lessons but they never forget to remind you to have fun. You will never forget the mantra of "clutch and braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake" :) We had Dat, Kramer and Michelle for the classroom lessons and these guys were brilliant. You can ask them anything and they will give you a no-BS answer, and often share many of their personal experiences. The classroom videos and exercises were great for putting you in the correct mindset and often reminded us of the danger and healthy respect you need for riding. I had my MSA before going to PRS but would highly recommend PRS to both new and current riders. I identified some bad habits I had picked up as well as picking up a few new skills to help keep me out of trouble. This was one of the best experiences I have had and am looking forward to taking part in other courses that the guys at PRS run. If I had any advice to give to prospective students I'd say: 1: Trust the instructors and what they say works !! 2: If you get nervous, squeeze the tank with your knees 3: Leave any ego you have at home. If you are reading this you are smart enough to realize that you shouldn't learn to ride from crazy uncle Bob or your friend Spike. Even if they are great riders they may not be great teachers. Spike may want to teach you how to get a knee down in "Dead Man's Corner" on the first day but the awesome instructors at Pacific Riding School have a great curriculum based on solid fundamentals, each skill is learned and practised before you progress to the next step. The course is entertaining and fun as well as very informative. They bring in equipment specialists to lecture on how to fit a helmet properly and answer questions a new rider may be too embarassed to ask at a dealership. A+ for the facilities. The classroom is awesome and comfy, the coffee is always on. They are right next door to ICBC. A+ for the teachers. They care about YOU, they know what you need to work on and will help you to master the skill even if your classmates are on the next skill. You will not be left behind. You will feel like you are a part of the PRS family (because you are). A+ for the equipment. New gear that is organized and well maintained. A+ for value. I don't consider cheap to be related in any way to value. Sure I recommend "cheaping out" on certain things- haircuts, deodorant, socks but please listen to me and your mother/father/wife/ husband/loved one and DO NOT cheap out on motorcycle lessons! A+ for the city ride. Real survival skills, not just ICBC requirements. I have never reviewed anything before because "they are all the same to me" but Pacific Riding School is a stand out. I am so glad I decided to go through the ICBC Certified Street Course at PRS, it really was worth ever cent. The combined wealth of knowledge, experience, and wisdom that they provide riders with is totally invaluable, and instruction is given in a very comfortable, chill, fun, and enthusiastic environment. Not only do they teach you from the ground up how to safely control and operate a motorcycle, but they also emphasize and instil the importance of personal safety and the necessity for being extremely aware of your riding environment. They prepare you for, and test you on, your motorcycle skills (ICBC MSA), and they prepare you for what you might experience on your ICBC road test. By the end of the course I felt totally confident to continue practicing on my own in the streets of Greater Vancouver. The Instructors are wonderful, and they have an awe inspiring list of riding qualifications, the facility is clean and super professional, and there are bikes for all sizes and comfort levels. I will recommend this school to anyone even remotely interested in riding a motorcycle. They also have an Enduro/off road class, motorcycle maintenance classes, and Moto Gymkhana! After the street course you can also book a mock road test with them to practice what you will experience with ICBC, and they record it for you so you can review for yourself. I am 42 years old and although I have wanted to get a bike license since I was 14 years old, between protective parents and then family responsibilities I had managed to make it to my age without even ever sitting on a running motorcycle (although a couple times a year I would stop into a local Motorcycle dealer just to look and dream and sit on a few in the showroom). This year when I finally decided that it was my time to live this dream, I started to research for the best school available, I landed on PRS's website and although I liked all the information that I read, I was a little apprehensive because they were racing champions and I figured that meant they would teach me to race. I eventually made the decision to go to PRS because of other reviews and testimonials I had read. I can say with COMPLETE confidence that I made the correct decision! I had Dat for my lot and road training, he was patient and supportive when needed, and also stern when needed. Yes, stern, these people take your life and safety very seriously and personally and if that means that it isn't all sunshine and rainbows, well then good! This course is about more than getting your Motorcycle license, this course is about allowing you to enjoy owning a motorcycle by teaching you how to survive in a world filled with really bad drivers. Bottom line, if one of my children was going to want to ride a motorcycle, THIS is the course I would insist on them going to. read more

I just recently finished the "weekend" program with PRS. For the theory portion of the program, Mark Kruger (Kramer), 8 time supersport champion, was the instructor. He made each day that you would spend with him very fun but also very informative. You can tell he was more than just passionate about riding. He was also passionate about teaching. He wanted to make sure you understand before even going forward with the subject. To him, there was no stupid question. Only thing stupid that is stupid is if you don't ask questions and soak in the knowledge he has to offer about the riding world. If we ever have a question after the classroom portion is done. He kept reminding us just to email him and he'll be glad to reply. Once we were done in the classroom, there was the lot and road training. I had Ambrose Ho for my training. And man, he worked the students hard to make sure we know what we're doing. Even pulled the student to the side if he saw them struggling, Also made sure they're okay and understood what to do on the task at hand. All in all, my time at PRS will be the most memorable learning experience I ever had for riding. All the instructors are very friendly. They made sure we are all welcomed as if we joined a gang. Honestly I cant imagine going onto the streets without taking this course. If i knew what it consisted of and they asked $2000 i wouldn't think twice to cough up the money. Its worth your life if your going to be riding in the city or on any roads. The way they teach the course makes you really say holy shit this is serious and these guys are professional riders they know there stuff. The way Dat taught me i was mind blown with how much effort and love he put into teaching the group, it felt like we were the only group he had every taught, putting all his effort into it and training us like we were family of his. Amazing structure to the course and the reflection of Marines and Military really puts it into a clear perspective and gives you a good picture. Dat and Kramer are really great people and cool guys, they both add a great sense of fun and humor to the course, mixed in with making your realize how serious and dangerous the roads are. Best $860 I've ever spent. Ever! Here is why: - Professionalism - Top notch. Every member of the staff is a consummate professional. - Curriculum - Excellent. Well-constructed theory classes, parking lot sessions and roar rides. - Teaching - Phenomenal. These guys are experts and they know how to teach you. I've been thru 8 years of high learning experience in large and small universities, and this was by far the best teaching I've ever experienced! Absolutely the best. - Facility and equipment - Excellent. They have everything you need walking off the street. ZERO knowledge or experience is required. In fact, zero knowledge is preferred because it will be easier for these guys to teach you the correct fundamentals. - Safety and care - They will take care of you 100% the moment you sign up until you walk out the door: in classroom, on the parking lot, on the road. In my personal opinion, this type of new rider education must be mandatory for anyone thinking to ride. Please, if you a 19-20 yo itching to hope on R6, TAKE THIS COURSE before you get on the street! PACIFIC RIDING SCHOOL Instructors are awesome! I have procrastinated for the past few years about jumping in and starting to learn about motorcycling. Being a middle aged woman with many years of driving, none on a standard vehicle and never having ridden a scooter or motor bike, I felt taking professional lessons is the way to go. Kramer (Mark Kruger) a real people person, good communicator, taught the theory portion of my class with a dash of humour. Being a student in Mark's (Kramer's) class was a great pleasure. As well, Instructor Ambros, is dedicated, professional, helpful, and provides straight forward feeback. Patience is appreciated and I felt this in his approach. 100% trust under their tutoring is what I felt. I learned many skills from Ambros which I will take to the roads with me (along with his voice in my head - reminding me of what I need to do). I am amazed, within one week, I am able to ride a motorcycle; albeit, I am very much developing a skill. I would like to see our Province pass a law to ensure all those applying for motorcycle licenses are mandated to take this vauable course. This course instills safety and life saving techniques. Pacific Riding School's training course is amazing. I took it in March 2012. We did 3 nights of theory, 3 nights of practice riding on their private lot, and then two days of long rides during the day. I also paid extra to do a mock road test the day before my actual ICBC road test. I had my full class 6 within 3 weeks of finishing the course. Their program is beneficial because you get lots of riding time (not sure what that other guy was saying about only getting 1hr of riding time, he must have missed a lot of days and I'm sure they wouldn't allow you to continue the course if you missed a day). Some of the stuff they teach you is to save your life. Some of it is stuff you only need to know to pass your road test with ICBC, but doesn't really apply to real life riding. They also have the results of everyone's road test that was failed, and they go through them with you, so you know the common reasons for failing. The most important thing I took away from the course are the defensive skills that no doubt have prevented me from being in accidents when other drivers make mistakes. I LOVE PRS!! inspired by their client Carol last year (video on PRS website), after chatting with Mark @ Motorcycle Show in Jan2014, I started lessons in March 2014. I was taught by Chris & Diane, Ambrose & Laurie, Horst & Taro...all true professionals who patiently helped me with consistent coaching & lotsa EMPATHY, as this 55 year old needed extra sessions due to a long learning curve & some fear. Last Wednesday, after a wild, exhilarating ride from Surrey-Vancouver-Surrey in dark, windy, monsoon-like conditions, I completed my program! Did I mention belting out "Born Free" through the Massey Tunnel? Talk about breathing!! AND compliments to Teresa in the office who made extra lessons just magically appear...she also had kind words & lots of empathy...fabulous! Next step is to get a starter bike, practise, then return to PRS for a mock Class 6 road test to ensure I am ready for ICBC Class 6 test, so I can show up to PRS rides & future events with a full license! Pacific Riding School IS as good as it gets! I have never does a review before, as I just can't be bothered. But I'm so impressed with PRS that I'm going to do one! I asked on FB what school is best for learning how to ride. An overwhelming response said PRS. I looked them up on Google, and they have a perfect 5 starts with 52 reviews. I was like wow, they must be amazing or fake! lol I phone in and talked to Teresa, she was polite and signed me up for next weeks daytime class. First class was with the owner, super nice and very well experienced bike racer, Mark aka Kramer. Second day and onward I had Chris Fuchs. Amazing guy with a great personalty. I can thank him for passing the test, great clarity and vision when doing the road training. Please keep in mind prior to this course I have never ridden a motorcycle before! Quite frankly, one of the best investments I've made in years. This is coming from someone who'd never ridden a motorcycle before. Excellent instructors, fun classes and more than enough experience between them for you to feel safe in the knowledge that they know what they're doing. They teach you everything from the ground up, starting with two days in the classroom, two days in the parking lot, and two days (or nights, depending on your choice of schedule) on the road. The first road ride will be nerve racking (it was for me at least), but by the time you're done, the second one will be a breeze. The amount of knowledge gained in just six days is astounding. Not only do they prepare you for the ICBC road test, they also teach you how to stay alive out there, through defensive riding strategies and fine tuning your observation skills. Pacific Riding School is excellent. I thought riding a bike would be a piece of cake but the first night on the bike I wondered what I was getting myself in to. The instructors are obviously all excellent riders but really put the fear in to you in order to make it fun and safe. By the end of the parking lot training I was feeling much better and ready for the roads. They have actually changed my outlook on the roads as now I look at the roads from a biker perspective rather than a big SUV perspective. The class room sessions and the riding sessions were enjoyable and time just flew by. I think that it should be law that anyone who wants a motorcycle licence should have to take a course like Pacific Riding School. They do not just teach you how to pass the road test! Took the class August 2012. I had never ridden a motorcycle before. Not once. The first 2 days are in class (theory), 2 days parking lot, and then 2 days of city/highway riding. The instructors are amazing! They teach you all things you need to learn to be a safe and confident rider. They make it fun, and reinforce the most important aspects at all times. On the day rides, you have radios and the instructors are constantly speaking to you about upcoming hazards, which lane position to be in, etc.. I have never written an online review for anything, but after taking the course and working with the staff there, I felt compelled to spread the word to let others know how amazing these guys are. I had wanted to get into riding for a while, but didn't know any Class 6 license holders so I figured the best way to get riding would be going through a school. Internet research settled me on PRS, and I'm very glad it did. I consider myself a pretty capable driver and athlete, but the skills and theory taught at PRS definitely brought me to a much higher riding level than I would have been at had I just taught myself in an empty lot. These guys employ cutting edge techniques to develop your skills as fast as possible, and the passion and energy they bring to the lessons is very refreshing. They also do your MST exam for you, and allow you to borrow their motorcycles to do the class 6 road test so the whole licensing process is streamlined and saved me a ton of time and effort.
