They know that if the food is exceptional and customers have a great experience, word will spread. That's exactly what Pancho Villa Mexican Grill is doing in Lincoln. In a city of nearly 300,000 people with countless Mexican restaurant options, Pancho Villa stands out the best possible way -- through incredible flavor. Taste is clearly their calling card. Owners Eli and Lisa Santana recently celebrated 16 years in business, and it's easy to see why they've built such a loyal following. The restaurant is family-run, with their children helping alongside them, and their passion for serving great food comes through in every part of the experience. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30 p.m., after the lunch rush. I ordered the Guadalajara-style tacos -- soft corn tortillas filled with flavorful carne asada, onion, and cilantro. The tacos were excellent, but the true stars of the meal were the red and green salsas. Both were incredibly fresh, packed with flavor, and had just the right amount of heat and spice. They were so good that I actually returned the following week just to order salsa to take home. Pancho Villa can be a little tricky to find, but Google Maps will get you there. And much like their namesake, Pancho Villa, they may not be the easiest to track down -- but once you do, you'll be very glad you made the effort. Fantastic, authentic, flavor-packed Mexican food. In the end, that's what matters most!

There are plenty of options and combinations to choose from, making it easy for everyone to find something they like. We used the restaurant for a book club gathering, and it worked well for a casual group meetup. The atmosphere is energetic and can get loud during busy times, giving it more of a fast-food/social vibe than a quiet dining experience. They also serve alcohol, which adds to the relaxed hangout feel. I ordered the nachos and really enjoyed them -- generous toppings, flavorful ingredients, and a satisfying portion overall. One challenge is parking, since most of it is street parking and can be difficult to find depending on the time of day. Overall, it's a great local spot for quick, flavorful food, casual gatherings, and a relaxed social atmosphere.

We enjoyed the chips and dip, although it certainly appeared they actually counted how many chips we were allowed. The ambiance is very good here the rooms are broken up so noise doesn't spread. We both had chimichan's. Hers was chicken and mine beef. I appreciated my food more than she did. As she started eating it, she noticed it looked more like a beef-filed one. She called the waitress over and showed her. The waitress agree it appeared the kitchen had made a mistake. A second one was ordered and came quickly. But as she was eating it once again the color and texture of the meat was not chicken, The manager finally came to the table. He left and went to the kitchen. Came back after 1-2 minutes later. He explained that it was indeed chicken, but the meat is a mixture of seasoned pork and chicken. My wife ate her food, but was upset because the name of the entree was 'chicken'. She didn't enjoy it because she could taste the difference firstly but mostly because it was NOT what she wanted and it turned out ALL their chicken and beef are mixtures. My beef one it turned out was also a mixture. Why they did it we don't know. As we let her comment to me was "I will never eat here again. Make sure when you write this up that you let others who might read it know what they are getting. . I am now doing it. I will say if you dine in, the seating is not conducive to be comfy or relaxed. The booths are bright orange and the seats are a hard plastic. For me, to enjoy a great meal then the ambiance and seating will help seal the deal. If you don't fuss about your seating but want tasty Mexican food you have come to the right place. This time I was in the mood for a taco salad in the bowl which eating the bowl is half of the fun. The salad is layered with smoldering meat, diced onions, crispy shredded lettuce throughout the salad sprinkled with gigantic amounts of shredded sharp cheddar cheese and topped with fresh crisp cool tomatoes. They provide a mild, medium, and hot taco sauce packet. I hate the packets because they are hard to open with your fingers and using my teeth as a pair of dull scissors is a bit frustrating. I ordered a Diet Coke but they serve Pepsi products. Bummer. It still went down cool and smooth with the right amount of ice. I did not have any dessert. To be honest, when I eat Mexican, sweets are not a treat! The prices were not too steep. The servings were ample. I thought I got my money's worth. The service was ok. I have to say nobody stood out as a star server. I am a regular because the food melted in my mouth with a dash of crunchy. I will be back when I get the urge for super delicious Mexican food! If you can roll with it and overlook the idiosyncrasies, the rest makes for a great night out.

Do you get chips when you order Chips and Cheese?…read more I am Taco Inn's Biggest fan! Being from Lincoln and going to the original opening on 70th and O St. We have lived 5 minutes away from the 56th St. location for 26 years. Since the new owners took over there is ALWAYS something! For a long time we didn't go back and drove to the one on Cornhusker. Most recently, my husband was hungry and made the wrong decision to stop at the 56th location. He even went in, thinking the order might be right. He said no one was in the restaurant, the 2 gals were laughing and joking around. He left, got home and we had no chips for 2 Chips and Cheese that we paid for. He called and was very blunt and angry to have 2 chips on the counter he was coming back. (remember he is very hungry by now) In the pass we have never gone back, just ate our meal angry with our own chips. I can not remember how many times this has happened, or something else is wrong!! He let the staff have it when he got there! I/we am so disappointed this time that we really are never going to return to this location, our favorite taco place that is 5 minutes away.

We were seated right away, and the server even knew my brother's drink and dinner order, which felt like VIP treatment. It's a cute, clean establishment, very on par with most Mexican restaurants in the area. Chips and salsa arrived quickly. The chips were standard, but the salsas were fresh and tasty, with both hot and mild options. We started with the cheese dip, which was a little runny, but I actually like it that way. It even had spinach in it, so we'll call that healthy. Our crew ordered everything from shrimp diablo to nachos to chicken ranchero, while I went for the number one combo with three tacos. The food came quickly and looked great, but my tacos didn't hold up. The shells gave out under the weight of the beef, which was a bit on the greasy side. Instant sog city. Sadness. I ended up making tostadas out of the wreckage with the help of some of the table chips. Overall, not a bad stop. The menu is big, the service is friendly, and there is plenty more to try. I would come back, but probably not for tacos.
