Upon visiting this supermarket for the 2nd time, I've grown to appreciate it more. Stopped by to pick up lunch and some marinated carne asada for tacos but wound up buying a bit more than I planned. So many stations to purchase items like salsa and guacamole where you get to decide what you want in it. A juice stand with so many fresh fruit juices. A tamale station with 6 types of tamales. They make SUSHI. Panaderia section has so many tasty pastries. A food court with an awesome selection of traditional combo plates, soups, and stacks of chicharrones. The selection of tortillas and chips will blow your mind. The seafood cocktail fridge has an awesome shrimp cocktail with jumbo shrimp for under $10. My lengua burrito was pretty decent, a nice size, and reasonably priced. The red salsa was incredible. My wife's chile relleno was pretty impressive in taste and size if a bit spicy. I'm going back for that and the chicken soup. Vallarta is a cool shopping experience and so different than walking into your generic Vons or Albertsons. Prices are a bit higher but still within reason. It's worth checking out for sure. read more

They sell the best bolillos or birotes and they sell like....well like fresh hot bread! lol its a clean place...its got many different stations like a guac station and then the food area where you order your carnitas and or plates or ready to order foods and of course the wall of Mexican snacks/treats ive always had good experience with all the folks who work there at any of the checkouts. the only negative here is that the parking has always been a pain in this strip mall but its not their fault its just always been a pain and sometimes there's been some ghetto stuff happening but yeah Vallarta is a good choice to get your stuff or satisfy some cravings read more

I just bought masa de piña here. It was after work and driving to Amapola in Paramount would have taken forever. I was tasked with making sweet tamales for a work function and Vallarta came through. It saved me two hours of drive time for sure. They also have a masa preparada with vegetable shortening instead of manteca. I have made vegetarian tamales and chicken tamales with this for a Muslim friend that does not eat pork. read more

This is the best Mexican market short of the north gate in Costa Mesa which is incredible! So this place is huge, very clean and most important they have the more rare ingredients that are hard to find plus the prepared foods. Get the freshly fried chips and ceviche. Super disappointed We came to the restaurant inside Vallarta Carson around 8 PM (Google says they close at 9), excited to have dinner as a family before grocery shopping -- something we always look forward to. But when we got there, everything was already put away and they were cleaning. The only food available was leftover pork and chicharrones, which I couldn't eat. Jason was nice and helpful, but he mentioned he's just the cashier. Angelica said there was still food, but it was only leftovers. Honestly, the whole point of coming here is to sit down and eat together as a family before shopping, so this was really disappointing. I wish the posted hours matched the actual service. read more

I've been wanting to visit Vallarta Supermarket for quite sometime and now I finally got the chance to check it out. When I first walked in I was quite impressed at how clean and bright the supermarket was. I also noticed right away that there was a good selection of grocery goods as well as fresh food and drinks to purchase. I've been in a breakfast burrito kick lately and so when I saw they offer breakfast burritos, I knew I had to get one. Their breakfast burritos are $10 and come with either ham or chorizo. I chose to get chorizo. One thing I did want to note is that it took a bit of time to place the order and to get the order. They didn't have anyone at the register to take the order and so we needed to wait. Once the order was placed, we also had to wait some time to get our burrito. There's only one employee doing the cooking. I was excited for the burrito but unfortunately my expectations may have been too high. Though the burrito was huge, it was mostly packed with beans and rice. The portion of chorizo and egg was small. Considering the egg and chorizo should've been the main fillings, this was a bit of a let down. Aside from the burrito, I purchased some chicharron ($13.99 per pound), tamales ($3 each) as well as some pan dulce (4 for $5). For the tamales, I definitely recommend getting some early. They open up at 7am but by 9am, they were already out of the chicken tamales and the pork tamales. I enjoyed the the chicharron, tamales and pan dulce. The chicharron was nice and crispy. The beef tamales were tasty. The pan dulce was not too sweet and a great breakfast treat. Overall I enjoyed my first visit to Vallarta and I know I will be back. I would get chicharron, tamales and pan dulce again, I will honestly skip on the burrito next time though. (Three stars for this review is due to the burrito which was disappointing). read more

I tried the fresh smoothies, that were made fresh with fresh ingredients and for one of the smoothies the manager went into the grocery store to purchase additional needed ingredients to complete the orders. I really like that they have a section for hot foods prepared "la cocina". I bought the family picnic meal with the grilled chicken and it was delicious. The price is a bit on the high side but this is a quality market and I am so happy that Carson has a Latino supermarket. Service was prompt and people were helpful. I shopped at the Albertsons standing here before and wondered why their inventory was so low. Then it made sense when I drove through months later and it was closed. Drove through about a year later and... TADAH! Brand spankin' new Vallarta's! And I swore to come through one day. That one day finally arrived. I was with my mom (who's been here and raved about it) so I was kinda hyped about going. And it's NOT all hype. This place is huge and had everything a regular supermarket has (Albertsons, for example) and then lots of extras and areas: hot food, juicers, ham and cheese, tortilla section, salsas, desserts and bakery, creams, meat department (awesome selection), fresh produce, etc. They had 2 kinds of chicharron and Mom bought half pound of each and they were made fresh. It was still warm when we got to the car (we could wait to get home to try 'em.) The only little snag here were the workers behind the hot food section: a few of them saw us (and a few more) waiting to be helped but there was no acknowledgement whatsoever. The plus, however, is that they are mindful about keeping the store floors clean. There were hardworking people mopping continuously the whole time we were there. It was an impressive stop! If I lived closer, I'd probably make more stops. But there will be future ones, for sure. read more

First time here and I'm seriously impressed! This store has a huge selection of Mexican and Latin American groceries and ready-to-eat foods. Super clean, bright, and inviting it honestly sparkles. They make their own tortillas, bread, and tamales in-house, plus there's a juice bar and even a sushi counter. Everything looks fresh and beautifully displayed especially the produce. It's got that trendy supermarket vibe but with way more heart. I tried the ceviche and tamales, and both were delicious. 11/16/24 FOUND IT!!! Epazote for my posole verde Where has this place been all my LIFE!? First off, bright & airy, spacious! Staff look happy to work here & it's very encouraging to patronize such a business. DO NOT miss the bakery department, on the other hand--I need to stay away. Their mazapan tres leches is so good! Sweetness level is just right & you can taste the nuttiness. I tasted it from the lady staff stationed by the department, giving samples. It is a HUGE market. It has a plethora of choices for prepared foods: guacamole, baked chicken, cut fruits, hot tamales, sushi, etc. I didn't get a chance to take a peek at the cafeteria style eatery that has a dining area, near the restrooms requiring a code to enter (fairly clean, a little bit of tagging from traviesos, not Vallarta's fault). I really must return to fully check this market! As soon as I found the epazote, I knew it was going to be great--and it WAS! The only complaint was the heart pounding sound the exit made when I walked towards it, I felt like a criminal about to get cuffed & thrown in jail. Kidding aside, this location is amazing, bells & whistles! The background music is upbeat & lively (Latin inspired of course). Each department is very well labeled & decorations are very tasteful. I really love this place. Self checkout is available but it looked packed so I made my way to the check stand & Sandra is all smiles, very welcoming. It is an all around great experience. Food- Good Service- Questionable I'm disappointed by the lack of professional boundaries at this location. While checking out, the cashier was overly familiar and made inappropriate personal comments that made the experience incredibly uncomfortable. Rather than focusing on a professional transaction for both customers present, she chose to engage in a way that was both unprofessional and disrespectful to the social dynamic. Excellent service should be consistent for everyone, not based on who the staff finds personally appealing. I take customer service very seriously and this store is one I frequent at almost weekly. This is my last straw. I bought these jellies on Thursday November 13,2025. It is NOT my job to check ALL expiration dates on the things I buy .my kids wanted some and got a stomach ache off of them when I checked the expiration date one them and they have been 3 days past the expiration date. They don't regularly check their items lots of stuff like fruit also carry mold in them like the strawberries I've seen with fuzz. Nothing can be done apparently since my 3 kids ate one EACH ... I love this Mexican market! It's not super close to me but idc I will drive here for their hot food especially tamales, drinks and pan dulce. The flowers are nice. Our first time being at a grocery market catered for the Latin community that isn't in Mexico and we were loving it! The market was super clean and had everything you could want. The price point was great as well. Unfortunately we had a flight to catch shortly afterwards so we couldn't indulge in all the goodness but we loaded up on candies and my husband did get a bit of ceviche to go. I went to pick up some concha sweet bread, and they had a dulce section nearby. Also had a floral area, deli section, and a small foodcourt area, I believe. When it first opened, most everything was very good. Now everything has slowly declined. Top of the list, tortillas. They're still very good. Cut fruit was good, occasionally not ripe. Now it's always not ripe and inedible. Chicken roast, flat, buffalo was all decent. Now it's been disappointing most of the time. Other prepared hot food. Before everything I tried was good. Now every time I get anything it's super salty, every time. Tamales were just average or less. They're still about the same. Tortilla chips were very good occasionally tasted of burnt oil. Now they always taste like burnt oil. Guacamole was extremely good, top notch 10/10. The last few times it tasted not good at all. Last time I went in it looked like they're abandoning the whole plan to make it. Probably because nobody buys it, well of course nobody wants to buy it because it doesn't taste good anymore. I'm guessing it's a management thing. Imagine 2 different employees. #1 pumps out guacamole extremely fast but it doesn't taste good. #2 makes it slower but it tastes good. Get rid of #2. Keep #1. For a short period of time, profit climbs, then suddenly drops. People buy up every green tub, for a short period of time. Everyone eventually realizes it doesn't taste good anymore, everyone stops buying it, there's your sudden drop. I hope to see this business thrive. It could fulfill a need in the community. It's not just about money. People want to buy something to feed their family. Not waste money on something nobody wants to eat. read more

The management of this place seems to lack customer service, super unprofessional. This particularly issue could've been resolved better. Exciting and new! This supermarket has taken over the old Albertson's. I perused the aisles and you would find similar groceries and items as SoCal's Northgate, Superior Grocers, etc. I took a look at the bakery item and an enthusiastic young clerk kindly offered assistance right away. Made my way to the kitchen or "La Cocina." When I say they were busy on a Sunday afternoon, they were biz-zayy! Parking is crowded and tight. There is a designated point to order from the made-to-order menu. I opted for a simple bean and cheese burrito and 3 tacos plate w/beans and rice. The hubs is a fan of birria so that is what I chose. Miscommunication or disconnect between order taker and cooks took place because I did not want our tacos to have lengua (tongue) and raw onions. Star deductions for this. This was a to go order and there are some seating available for dining in. It was a 20 minute wait to receive our order. Some other customers waited patiently and I saw one woman (who probably was on her lunch break) expressed impatience with the food preparers. They were only open for a month so I am sure processes will improve. Didn't want to try the tacos but everything else from burrito, beans, and rice were solid. 3 stars due to incorrect order and lengthy wait time. read more

The staff here are usually nice. Especially the tall, pretty lady who's always at the self-service check out. However, they had a different staff there today who was unfriendly and rude. I asked her nicely for a bag and nodded at me but then gave the bag to a different customer and ignored me after. I called her, said "excuse me, I asked for a bag", and she replied with "you have to press 1 on the screen for the bag and say yes", while holding the paper bag. My screen was already showing "1" bag and I was just waiting for her to actually hand me the bag that I'm asking for to buy for 15 CENTS! I wouldn't have a problem with her telling me I needed to confirm the purchase of the bag first but the way she said it, like she already mentioned it before when she obviously hasn't, was unacceptable. It's like she made it appear she didn't do anything wrong and I was to blame. Just because she was chit chatting with the security does not mean she cannot be disturbed at all to do her job and be nice to people. read more

Vallarta Supermarkets is HERE! Today was their grand opening and it's pretty amazing! For those who know and/or lived here locally, this place used to be Alphabeta , Luckys and Albertsons through the years until they completely gutted it and made the whole building new. It shares a huge parking lot with Bank of America, Winchell's , Jamba Juice, etc. Inside, they have the produce section where it used to be before with other stores, but they made it way newer and super organized with more different selections. I dig how they got fresh coconut drinks upon entering it. They also have other unique stuff like an Aguas Frescas /Juice Bar, freshly made Tortilla/Taco section, carne asada/chicken section, etc.. If you need to chill and grub on their food, they have a cozy seating section to the far left of the store with ample seats and tables. The staff have been super nice, especially dealing with the huge crowds in and out of this place, along with the cart people somehow controlling the carts outside in a cool manor. They also have a fresh sushi and ceviche station! Wow! All in all, this market is extremely new and amazing; I seriously hope that the customers around here do not mess it up for everyone with crime and other bad elements that negatively affected this whole strip mall lot before. I waited 30+ minutes to order a smoothie when it was only one customer at the time all of a sudden several customers just walk up and start talking in Spanish and they help each other as I'm just standing there I say excuse me I will snatch she goes OK get back in line. I stopped coming here for anything that has to do with fridge food. On completely different occasions we've had spoiled food it's gross. Bought heavy whipping cream and both containers were spoiled. I go to this Vallarta Grocery store at least once a week. Everyone is super nice, friendly and always helpful. Except for this one particular employee " CHASTITY"who says she's a manager. What manager doesn't know store policy's and procedures. She's very rude, disrespectful and needs more training in being a manager. When a customer inquires about an item in the store, you don't jump in their face yelling and then proceed to follow them in the store. When they ask to speak to another manager. This is no way to run a business. TRAIN HER OR REMOVE HER. She's making the rest of the employees look bad. read more
