Sun tunnel after Valiant Roofing came by to fix it.
    Sergey V.

edit: Jack (company rep with whom I communicated/planned the job) contacted me within an hour of leaving this review and scheduled a time, same day, to resolve my issues. He just left after fixing the live-wire threat and cleaned the sun tunnels. One of the sun tunnels still needs some work and a company rep is going to come out and fix it within 2 weeks or so. I'll further update the review then. I contracted Valiant Roofing to replace my aging shingles as well as install sheathing on top of the wood slates used back in the 60s and my experience with the company has left a lot to be desired. I corresponded with Jack Divine on all planning and he was definitely helpful and was the only decent part of my experience with Valiant Roofing. The contracting company (or maybe it was a team employeed by his company?) directly contributed to an experience leaving me unable to recommend Valiant Roofing to anybody. The whole reason I went with Valiant Roofing was their Platinum partnership with Owens Corning and the fact they could get the specific shingle design I want. It was my great surprise, upon checking the work, the contractors were in the middle of installing a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT pattern. They had to stop construction, remove the already installed pattern, and wait to get the correct pattern delivered before resuming work. But I am getting ahead of myself. first, after old shingle tear down and after installing new sheathing, the underlayment they laid out was full of huge wrinkles. They contractors on scene did nothing to fix it until I called the project supervisor and asked them to intervene. Both these events left me with little choice than to observe the workers install the roof so other corners weren't cut, I had zero confidence at this point. Roof is installed, I went to inspect the roof after the contractors left and found numerous (at least 4 instances) of nails being shot through the wrong part of the shingle and also being exposed to the elements. I called the project manager and she came by personally to inspect and clean up more mess left behind. She recalled the contractors to come by and resolve the substandard shingle nail job as well as further clean the work area. After this the roof job was done. I called the company later to complain about debris in the sun tunnels. They sent out the same team to clean and I'm still upset at this interaction and this is the reason I even wrote what I'd say is a critical review. I asked them to fix the alignment of the sun tunnels as light was escaping into my attic, and to clean the debris. They did not clean the insides of the sun tunnels as I requested. They ignored one of the sun tunnels completely and did a lackluster tape job on the other which did not resolve the escaping light issue. When I pointed out the remaining debris, they suggested I call Jack Divine and contract him to install a completely new sun tunnel as it would be cheaper. What? Okay, so fast forward to today, I'm inspecting my attic and I look at one of the spots in the roof where previously existed a vent. I see a LIVE romex cable touching the metal panic installed by Valiant Roofing. No effort made to safely cap it. I was not even notified of the fire danger. Completely messed up if you ask me. For what it is worth, there was a language barrier (I don't speak Spanish well) between me and the contractors doing the work. This made communication extremely difficult and I felt my concerns for this over $18000 job mostly ignored. All in all, a mostly unprofessional experience and I would not trust Valiant Roofing to do any more work on my properly.

After being gone during the winter, I came home and the gutters were destroyed from the weight of the snow sliding off the roof. I contacted my sales rep and let him know what happened. He informed the owner who sent out the installer within a weeks time and replaced the damaged gutter. Most companies would have told me Im on my own, but both the Company, Owner, and his employees show alot of care and compassion, and I wasn't billed for additional work. They will get more of my business in the future, and I'll make sure they are added to the reputable contractors list at LMCH.

Fortunately, I found HOMEMASTERS Battle Ground on Yelp then talked to Jeff on the phone today (Dec 27). Jeff originally suggested to put a temporary tarp on the leak. An hour later, Jordan and Joel showed up at my door, found the leak around one of the flashings and sealed it on the spot! (No need for a tarp!) I'm grateful for the promptness and professional work of HOMEMASTERS. (Joel even vacuumed where some ceiling insulation fell into my living space during the attic inspection!) Thank you Jordan and Joel for getting on my roof during this nasty wet and windy day (Dec 27) in Vancouver, WA.

This review reflects my personal experience with IBEX over approximately a two-year period, from…read moreroof installation through multiple follow-up service visits. From the start, my project did not include what I understood to be their standard process, which typically involves a pre-job walkthrough and a post-job inspection with the homeowner. In my case, that process did not take place. In hindsight, that missing step appears significant, as several issues were not identified or addressed early. Over the following two years, IBEX returned to my home approximately 4-5 times for installation-related issues. These included step flashing problems that resulted in shingles lifting in affected areas, ridge vent replacement due to improper product selection for the roof design, and replacement of damaged gutters. Minor cosmetic damage was also documented during this period. IBEX did respond in most cases and performed repairs, but the frequency of return visits was higher than expected for a new installation. More recently, while performing routine maintenance in my attic, I discovered organic growth and requested a full inspection. During that inspection, it was documented that ventilation and airflow were not performing as intended. I was told that intake and exhaust pathways were restricted, including blocked or improperly sealed gable vent areas and limited airflow at portions of the eaves due to insulation and framing conditions. To address this, IBEX performed corrective work that required modifying the roof system at the upper roof to attic entry transition point to improve airflow into the attic space. Additional penetration points were also added at the lower roof edge area. Which does not look appealing. At this point, there has not been enough long-term data provided to determine whether they are beneficial or how they will impact performance over time. I was also informed there was differing guidance among technicians regarding whether certain venting adjustments were required in that area. Following these repairs, mold remediation was completed. While IBEX did respond and attempt to correct issues once identified, the overall outcome required repeated service visits and additional modifications beyond the original installation. At this point, the system is no longer in its original installed condition, and I have concerns about long-term performance and ventilation design. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage homeowners to have an attic and roof inspection performed after installation and again at a later date to ensure that ventilation and installation details are functioning as intended and that nothing was missed during the initial process.
