This pizza joint is a Nebraska staple! Everything was delicious - from the fried provolone cheese to the cheeseburger pizza. Omg my taste buds were dancing! I will mention - 1 of the 3 fried provolone cheese appetizers was not cooked all the way through. The cheese was hard & cold inside, however our server immediately took care of the problem and gave us not 1 but 2 new batches! There were 11 people in our group & our server did a great job making sure we were happy. Plenty of space for people to dine in inside, however I didn't see any outdoor seating. Great thicker pizza. If you haven't tried Val's pizza give it a try. This isn't thin crust pizza, and has a little more substance. Great quality ingredients and the sauce is top tier. If you like mushrooms The Val's special is a must have. read more

Valentinos gets 5-stars in my book. Although, I have only had their pizza it has definitely not disappointed me anytime I've gotten it. The hamburger pizza is sooooo delicious and the thickness of the pizza fills you right up with just a few slices. They also have the best ranch. read more

There is an award for best pizza in Lincoln shown in the entrance way for this restaurant. But, I found both their pizza's and pasta's poorly made. The pizza lacks substance, heavy on the sauce and light on the fillings. The pasta was equally underwhelming and poorly prepared with unbalanced ingredients. I don't want to spend cash on something I can pay half the price for and spend half the time waiting for by going with a takeaway or a supermarket pizza option. They compensated a mistake with the order which was appropriate, and the staff were friendly. But, this is not an Italian restaurant I'll consider returning to or can recommend. read more

Very nice place. Fantastic waiter named Corey. Got a jumbo pizza with vals original sauce and crust. It was closer to deep dish than New York style for sure. I've never been a fan of super thin crust so I enjoyed the crust. The sauce was nice and smooth and I would say just the right amount. The cheese was good nothing to write home about. Added mushrooms and pepperoni. They put a very good amount on that didn't overwhelm the pizza, I hate it when people do that. I'd give it a 6.9-7.1 on a one bite pizza review. The crust could've been a little crisper imo. Didn't try anything else bc we were rushed on time but they do half price pitchers and apps on gamedays what a deal! read more

Valentino's seems to be some sort of beloved local institution, most likely based on their historic original location (now closed), but for the life of me I can't see why. This particular location is in a food court, and the pizza is simply not good at all, and they seem to have trouble getting toppings correct. This is especially annoying with delivery pizza, since if the order is wrong there is no way to gracefully correct it without ruining the meal. On a recent delivery order this location got one pizza wrong (wrong crust, omitted topping, omitted seasoning). The other pizza had a soggy, spongelike crust. Another location ruined a recent delivery pizza by dumping what seemed like an entire jar of hot chili flakes on the pie, unasked. Seriously, I give up. Lots of other pizza in town. read more

Today I read the article that was written by the food editor in the local paper. He said that this new Val's was as good as some of the other great Italian restaurants in Lincoln. We went for a late lunch and have to say the article was a joke except for the poor service. This is still just a fast food/pizza place. Fine dining it is not just because they bought new plates. My Lasagna was tasteless and the pasta my wife had was average at best. Our waiter was odd, he got down on his knees and placed his face inches from ours as he took our order. We also waited quite awhile to be seated in an almost empty restaurant. His excuse was that he was in the back talking to the owners and lost track of time? Really? Lincoln is where I grewup. Every time we travel through I have to stop at Valentino's Pizza. Normally we go to the original restaurant, for this trip we visited this location. Casey was our waiter, he was great. We each ordered the individual pizzas, there was an error in the kitchen on my husbands order. Casey made it right. The dessert pizzas are to go or delivery only now, even though we were eating in the restaurant Casey was able to get us one to go. The wine was also devine and we were able to purchase one to bring home to Michigan. Thanks to Casey we had another great time at Valentino's just like I remembered as a kid. read more

Extremely disappointed with a recent Valentino's experience. My mother-in-law ordered 4 pizzas including 2 multiple toppings jumbo pizzas and much more from 70th and Van Dorn in Lincoln for my daughter's 1 year old birthday party delivered... When the pizzas came the two jumbos were smashed, but we ate them due to having multiple guests on a timeframe. When we called the Manager Jesse I believe was his name was extremely lippy, rude, and arrogent. Saying we had no receipt even though he delivered the pizzas himself and found the order in their system, and that we called too late to have anything done about it, but he later offered, 1 large, single topping pizza to rectify the situation. Keep in mind the two ruined pizzas were two Jumbo multiple topping pizzas. Also, my mother-in-law gave a very nice tip that was apparently very undeserved. My mother-in-law is 70 years-old. Way to rip off a 70 year-old woman and a 1 year-old who likes your pizza enough to be an advertising campaign Valentino's... Corporate and the Better Business Bureau has been called and I will update this review accordingly. read more

The food was really good. The service was really bad. Maybe the waiter was used to a buffet service. He took our order, didn't return until it was time to pay (and we had to flag him down to even pay the bill). No water or drink refill, no asking how the food was, nothing... However, the food was excellent. I will give it another try on another night and hope the service improves. read more

I ordered a couple of meatball sandwiches from Valentinos tonight and what a disappointment they were! Papa Tony would be embarrassed. The meatballs were sliced super thin and the sandwiches had maybe 1 1/2 meatballs on each of them. They were smothered in sauce and had a sprinkling of cheese that was barely melted. These are not the meatball subs that I know and love. As a former employee of Val's, I have always believed they have high standards when it comes to quality, cleanliness, and customer service. This missed the mark that one should expect from Lincoln's "Best" pizza place. At least they have gone back to the good meatballs that were switched out during the Covid pandemic. But they need to go back to the chunky halves of meatballs and toasting the bread and cheese. These were a soggy mess. We threw away half the bread since there weren't enough meatball pieces to fill the whole sandwich. Next time, I'll go to Firehouse subs where they pile on the meatballs! read more

My husband and I went here for lunch. We haven't been to Valentino's since they closed the original in North Lincoln, where the pizza and all other dishes were excellent. We were really disappointed. 1. The food wasn't very good. Instead of putting the Sicilian Sauce on my spaghetti, they mixed it altogether. The result was a sticky mess. They gave me no spoon, so I cut it. And did I say it was a sticky mess; apparently they didn't rinse the spaghetti, so it all stuck together. 2. They charged me for a dinner serving and I was there at lunch, so the overcharge was $2 which I had to point out. 3. The lunch came with breadsticks, but they were doughy, not done, so even those were disappointing. Needless to say, I'm not going back and would not recommend this location. 4. I didn't know it was a sports bar; I don't need 6 T.V. sets with sports distracting me from my lunch. read more

First visit, I waited 20+ minutes to have my order taken. I was dining alone. It was not a huge overhead to take my order. They gave me that meal for free in response though, so I can forgive them for that. I decided to give them a second go. I figured it was kind to repay their generosity from last time, and willingness to make last time right. I ordered carryout this time. I ordered a small old world, garlic bread sticks, and, get this, "Val's Famous Garlic Roll". Sounds great, right? The pizza wasn't bad. It was good as in good enough, but not the best in the vicinity. There are two other pizza joints less than half a mile away. Breadsticks the same, good enough, but wouldn't call home about them. What grinds my gears though, is the 'famous' garlic roll. It is literally a hamburger bun with melted cheese on it. You cant make that stuff up. That goes beyond workmanship of the employees, which I'd give the benefit of the doubt. It shows the pride the entire chain takes in its how its decided to implement its menu. No wonder the pizza is meh. It's not the worst place you can find, and might even be good if the flavor tickles you personally just right, but I can't say it's worth my money. They should just stick to pizza. The atmosphere was a hybrid between an upscale restaurant and a sports bar. They had soft music playing, but also huge TVs with various games playing. These 2 things combined made for a strange experience. Now for the food: I often find food too salty, but I had to salt my food, so it was very bland. I could have made something better at home. My husband also said his meal was OK. The service was also very slow. It took longer for the food to come out than it did to have a glass of wine (which was over priced) and pick at our food. I was expecting a nice restaurant with good food, but I got an overpriced sports bar instead. Overall, I was very disappointed. I will not be back. read more

I have never had worse service at any Valentino's in my life. My mother and I visited the restaurant on a Tuesday over lunch hour. We walked in and waited for 5 minutes before we decided to just seat ourselves, which is okay, not a big deal. I realize it was lunch hour but including the booth we were sitting in, there were only 4 tables with customers, so it was not busy by any means. We sat there for 15 minutes and didn't even receive a greeting or even a look in our direction from any of the 3 wait staff that were standing around. One waiter made three trips to the table right next to ours and each time he walked away without even looking at us. After 15 minutes and not even being offered a glass of water, we got up and walked out. Not one of the employees even made the slightest effort to look up as we walked out without ordering anything. The waiting staff was pathetic, I will not ever even consider visiting this Valentino's location again. The only odd thing was they talked us out of ordering the deep dish because it takes approximately 45 minutes to make and it requires them to put it in the oven twice. Pizza was typical Val's pizza, which I enjoy. However, do not go for the Express Lunch if you plan to eat it there. Not only is there no seating now (their previous location at Southpointe was one of the only Valentino's Express locations that you COULD actually eat at), but they will not allow you to even eat your meal on the outside patio. This used to be our go-to Valentino's, but we will not be back. Looks like the only one left to go to (if you don't want it to go) is on West O, which is not convenient for most of Lincoln. read more
