I was on vacation in Westerly, having driven my own vehicle 1600 miles there from South Dakota - when a check engine light came on, causing a slight bit of panic. I called Valenti Toyota but the service department had closed. I was advised to just stop by around 7:30 am the next day, which I did. They treated me like a king. It was all fixed and I was on my way by 10:30 am. A huge relief. They also meter tested another related part to be sure the ignition coil was the only failing part. They had all my records from my own dealer in South Dakota too, as their database was shared nationally. So I asked if they could do an alignment with my rear axle having a shim on it, I was told yes, so instead of getting a new pcv valve and spark plugs, I opted to do the alignment. Except when it was done, I checked the rear alignment angles and they only changed the total toe *crooked* angle from .43 to .40 degrees (meaning the rear axle is facing towards the right), a change of .03 degrees. But because the .03 degree change is still technically an increase, the service manager was dead set on deeming the alignment a perfectly acceptable because .03 degrees still technically .03 degrees better than it was before. Now the acceptable limit ends at .52 degrees, for perspective for you future customers. And for perspective, they made the rear alignment 6% better- So if it were a grade on a test in school they would of got a 6 out of 100. But the manager repeatedly kept saying, technically we've made it better. And even though my car now drives worse, he couldn't care less. And to top it off, they also denied that my cooling fan was wobbling even after I showed them extremely apparent video of it wobbling. I was told it was an optical illusion. read more

Said I needed $630.00 brake job. More like a $630.00 con job. See, I had my Tacoma serviced - oil change, etc. - including an inspection specifically to see if it would pass RI inspection approximately one week before bringing my truck to Valenti. This was done by a Toyota Certified Mechanic who has his own garage. The certified-by-Toyota mechanic found nothing wrong with my truck that would preclude it from passing, including the brakes, noting all 4 pads were about 4 millimeters. RI State Inspection says they must be at least 1 millimeter to pass. What do you think Valenti service department said? They failed me, stating I needed a "brake job - pads, pistons, rotors" $630.00. I went to my Toyota certified mechanic the next day and he pulled the wheels and found that the front left pad was suspiciously thin. (Although Valenti said it failed at 1 mm, the pad was actually 1.5 mm, meaning even that ought to have passed.) My mechanic was baffled how a 4 mm pad reduced to 1.5 mm in a week or so. According to my mechanic, the pads were good for another 5 - 7 thousand miles. Instead, I had to have new pads all around - costing me an additional $150.00. And there is nothing wrong with the pistons, rotors or calipers! I have a photo of the left front brake assembly which clearly shows the pad was removed - scrape marks on the two pins. So how did the 4 mm pad reduce to 1 mm in the span of 7 - 10 days? I have a theory. Valenti didn't like my theory. Valenti service people feigned incredulousness - "Why would we do that?!" Answer - to make money. Everyone knows the service department is how dealerships make its money - not from selling cars. By the way, I bought my 2017 Tacoma two years ago from Valenti. Good experience with sales staff. Not the service department. Run away, run away, run away from Valenti service department. Oh yeah, they also did not properly align my front end. Shoddy work. Now, I have to write some letters to the state DMV and attorney-general, and review RIGL for any possible civil litigation. Fun times. read more

I called on the ninth to get everything straight on what needed to be done on my tundra. It had already been diagnosed. I explained that I needed my truck for spring cleanup and it was drivable. I'd like to make an appointment. They told me if I dropped it off Friday they would get to it on Monday morning. I finally picked it up on the 23rd and they had done nothing to it. In between I made probably 25 phone calls. The woman at the front desk will get you to Toyota every third time you call or you end up at Subaru. Then you're on hold for 5 to 7 minutes. The person who's handling your cases always out to lunch or on their break or called out but will call you back. I have never received the phone call, when promised. My fault for buying into the lie that we just pulled it in or some other bullshit that they constantly said. 2 1/2 weeks to have nothing done and nothing but aggravation. I would avoid this place like the plague. I'll return if I hear the place on fire, with the service department is trapped inside. read more

Hubby has bought 2 cars from here. Yes, oil changes are free for life but we like to use the good stuff so we do it our selves. They're kinda shady with their warranties. We got a warranty when we came across a problem they claimed we had a gold warranty not a platinum one... Hmm whatever dude. OK so here's where we start getting to the bigger problems. Last summer my brother was getting married in New York City. We decided to get an oil change / drain and fill from Valenti . Not even 80 miles later our car starts stuttering, steam and smoke coming out and all sorts of exciting things going on. We called them up and they didn't care. They said it was a was coincidence. R-e-a-l-l-y??? Cuz the ONE time you guys change my oil ... it gets screwed up. Looking at the invoice it even says "customer asked for a drain and fill " but in the section that explains what services were done it says they "flushed out our transmission " which another mechanic says that was the reason for my radiator blowing because the flushing of the transmission broke some old seals. They refused to fix it. We called up Toyota headquarters filed a complaint. Lo and behold a few days later a manager at Valenti Toyota asks us to bring our car back in to fix our ( not theirs) problem. They ended up giving us a loaner car and fixing their mistake. Although they did charge us AGAIN for more oil. Charmers aren't they? Update We may be suckers for punishment but we've now bought 4 cars from here. One of the cars was a brand new Sienna. For that one, we do all of the scheduled maintenance at Valenti. They work with your schedule and are pretty good at the maintenance stuff. I purchased a 2014 Nissan Altima in 2016. The car is a nightmare. It's on the 4th transmission. I have exhausted myself to the point of chest pain in trying to get out out of this vehicle with Valenti. They will not help me. This last time when the transmission blew, I was very lucky we weren't hit by other cars. Did I mention I have a child whom just turned 2 years old and who has gotten stuck with me for hours while this happened. Would any of you feel safe in this car????? I sure as heck don't and I'm worried that when this 4th transmission goes it will not be good. The old saying three strikes your out. I pray to GOD these people rest easy KNOWING they are endangering a mother and her only child by forcing them to stay in this car. No dealer will give me anything close to book value with the service record. Heck, Valenti won't even trade it in. I'm am horrified at this catastrophe I'm stuck in. I was very disappointed with my visit to Valenti Toyota. I have been searching for a truck and saw a truck posted on cars.com stating that they had a Toyota Tundra for sale, the truck was in the right price and had great mileage. I called and spoke to someone to see if the truck was still available they said it was and that 3 calls had been made that day about that truck, as soon as I got off the phone I hopped in my car and drove almost an hour to go see the truck, and had my dad get out of work early to meet me there to see this truck that the man on the phone promised would be available when I got there. He even gave me an associates name who I won't mention and told me he would be waiting for me with all the details of the truck. By the time we get there we ask the women at the desk to ask for The associate. He comes out and tells me that someone had put a down payment over the phone on the truck. And the description that was given on car.com didn't even match what was there. There was a plow attached to the truck, but he insisted I look at the truck in case because if the other gentleman didn't want it we could get it. Now why would you tell a customer to go look at something knowing there is a chance you won't get it. They didn't even try to work with us and try to find something comparable or offer us anything else. They literally let us walk away disappointed. My mother left our phone number just in case the other customer didn't want the truck but to be honest I would never do business with these people. Recently, our 1997 Rav4 wouldn't start on rainy days and called AAA 3x's to have it jump started. The last time I called AAA, the guy said, 'it needs new wires to the coil because they looked pretty old. Looks like it's 'arcing' he said. Shouldn't COST much. I said OK and took it to Valenti's of Westerly for service. The car also needed to be inspected so after the mechanic looked at it he said, 'Did you ever smell gas from it?' I said,'no'. (Incidently THAT wasn't the problem). He said,'Well, it looks like it's coming from the full tank so you'll probably need that and also your brakes are shot',etc,etc... I said,'What will it come to,' and he said,'over $1200.00.' I just said,'Forget it, I'll just take it and go.' He said, 'There's a diagnostic charge of $98.00' and I said 'I'm not paying a diagnostic charge when no work was done on it! ' He said, 'Sorry we can't release the car until that's paid.' So I paid the charge and said,'Never will I come back to this crooked place,' and left. (OH yeah, forgot to mention my parents and myself bought 3 cars there,...wished we hadn't). My advice is NEVER let mechanics anywhere charge for something they didn't do or don't have to do. BAD SERVICE!!! Look elsewhere! read more

I bought a car from Valenti in 2002 and just went back and bought a used 2010 Hyundai Elantra. I LOVE Valenti! After I bought the car, I realized the USB port wasn't working. No problem, they took it back and fixed it no charge! Then I heard noises when I hit the brakes... Again, no problem, they took the car, fixed it for Farr (while under warrantee) and gave me a loaner for the day! They could have told me the brake sound was in my head, or waited until it was no longer under warrantee, but they were honest, fixed it, and gave me the loaner besides! And this was for a used vehicle! Oh, and all vehicles have free oil changes for life. Guess where il going for my next car? Yup... Valenti! read more
