So I came here from some searching and a recommendation. I had previously failed a state safety inspection at Slaters Exeter Auto Repair for warn out sway bars. Slaters tried to charge me double for parts to fix this. After calling around and a friend giving me a recommendation I landed here. Pats is very honest and helpful. They explained to me what Slaters failed me for and gave me a real honest price for it! They even brought me into the garage and showed me exactly what the problem was! They told me since it was in the state systems it had to be fixed and they would help me out with the state inspection sticker so I do not have to go back to the crooks at Slaters again. I would highly recommend Pat's they are very kind, honest, and helpful. They will be willing to explain and help with anything that is wrong with your car if you are someone with lots of questions. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. Here's what happened to me: my car needed a new inspection sticker, and it wasn't going to pass, my car needs some work. Rather than explain to me what the issue was, the entire staff was rude from the moment I arrived. Evidently they have a very strict mask policy, and because I have been doubly vaccinated and didn't know that, obviously I wasn't wearing a mask. You'd think I was a serial murderer by the way they treated me. After rudely informing me of their policy I apologized and offered to get my mask which was in my car. They wouldn't let me near my car to retrieve it, therefore I couldn't wear a mask. The whole thing was ridiculous. I apologized and mentioned that they really should have a sign indicating their mask policy. Seconds later, they all decided to kick me out, saying they didn't wanna argue, using vulgar profanity and telling me to leave. They REFUSED service to me over something that could have been kindly handled. I implore you NOT to use this place, as these people all need attitude adjustments. I have never before been treated so poorly. In a time when we all could use a little kindness and understanding, this place has the policy to tell their customers to, and I quote, "get the F*** outta here." NOT COOL. To make it worse, I drove away without my current registration, so upon returning to get it back, the mouthy one comes out yelling at me "I TOLD YOU TO GET THE F*** OUTTA HERE!" I quietly entered the office, and asked for my registration back, all while Mr. Mouth was going off still. I don't know what's in the coffee here, but these people have no right treating customers this way. In a town with SO MANY mechanics to choose from, they don't have the luxury to act that way. I've never been so worked up over nothing before. Take your business elsewhere!!! Maybe, just maybe, this people will wake up on the right side of the bed one day and realize their behavior is terrible. read more

I had my car inspected at Pats. Everything was great and went smoothly and there were no unexpected additional costs (in the past I've gone to a chain auto place for inspection and there always seems to be an extra repair that absolutely has to be done). They even fixed a few little things that I forgot to mention when I dropped it off! The price for inspection an an oil change was very reasonable. When I got my truck back after a tune up it runs like new and all at a fair price. I've gone to Pats for years. He and his staff are top notch. I've had an occasion where I thought I had a problem with my car, had him look at it and then didn't charge me a dime when he found that there was in fact no issue with it. One of the things I really appreciate about Pat and his staff is that they don't "talk down" to you if you don't know a lot about cars, they are really good about keeping things in laymans terms. They won't try to upsell you on something you don't need, they'll just tell you the truth and help you make an informed decision. The only downside for me personally is that they are closed on weekends but its not a huge deal. read more

Stopped by for 4 new tires on the '01 Volvo I am trying to fix up to use as a winter/utility vehicle. Pat's gave me a great price (cheaper than Tire Rack), installed it within an hour (by appt), and even gave me tips on how to repair my exhaust leak and brake bleeder valve I broke off. To top it off, they filled out my warranty paperwork, put it in an envelope and even put a stamp on it. Contrary to the typical stereotype of small garages, this place is immaculate. The waiting room/foyer is small, but it is clean with comfortable chairs and music. The bays are not crowded full of junk and I didn't even notice a spot of oil on the floor. The front lot is large with cars parked organized and the locked back lot is large as well for long term jobs. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Heather, scheduler, office and cashier allowed me to come in even though I was late by an hour from the time they slotted me in for. (I had to try to bleed my brakes again, did a brakeline replacement and they were still very soft). David, mechanic, replaced my tires within in hour. Also let me know where the exhaust leak was and best way to fix it. Pat, owner, still works in the garage and is very honest. I would take all my vehicles to Pat's again for typical maintenance/OEM replacement. Not sure how they are about modifications. I would highly recommend this place. read more

Great Place. One morning, I had driven 60 miles to Westerly RI from CT. Once there, I discovered that I had a stowaway moving around inside my wheel well behind a shield/ valance. It was a LIVE Possum whose tail was hanging out a small opening in the bodywork. After about an hour or so of trying to remove it in every way I could think of I realized it was beyond me. I looked online for a garage that had real mechanics..not just 'parts changers' and found Pats. I drove straight over . They couldn't have been nicer. The mechanic jumped on opening up my wheel well and followed up with inspecting the underside of the car up on the lift. Turns out he possum had escaped somewhere along the way. The girl at the counter is Awlays rude on the phone and in person! I been getting my state inspection here since 2003 and she always tell me it's a wait for weeks due to how busy they are, test two times the owner was able to get me in the same day! She roll her eyes and huff and puff at you when you first walk in! She tell you that you must show insurance and all these other things that have nothing to do with inspection! Talks very rude on the phone! I still return because the owner is always polite and helps out in every way , but after seeing and hearing how Heather treated me and others, I won't return! They are the nicest people I have every met. Like not just at an auto repair shop, like anywhere. My car broke down on 95 N and I picked them because of the reviews on Yelp. They set up a system where I could get a rental car, have my car fixed and have it back within a week and when I realized that I needed to go somewhere else, they canceled everything no problem and got me a quick tow to the place that I needed to go to. They fix only what needs to be fixed and refuse to upsell you on extras, like so many other establishments. Second, expertise. Third - communication and respect. Heather, especially, treats every customer with the utmost care. She lets you know what is happening with your repair in layman's terms and never keeps you guessing. They offer to drive you, pick you up or arrange rental cars for longer waits. The mechanic that worked on my Jeep took his time to really explain to me what he had done. He seemed to genuinely care about my vehicle and making sure my needs were met. I went there because I was recommended by a friend and the young woman, I think her name was Heather, was so rude and nasty I cant believe that someone like her would be in such a position at a small mom and pop shop. Her demeanor was one of arrogance that should not be tolerated in a professional business! As I sat there waiting to be helped I could not help but over hear her talking to a customer about how incompetent her father was and how the business would be closing by the end of next year. As a woman who owns her own business I would NEVER allow anyone to work for me with such discontent and disrespect to me and my livelihood. I later took my vehicle to another shop located not that far away called Ashaway Service Station, the gentleman there was so nice.
