This was my second time visiting this school. My first visit was during the football season to watch a football game. My most recent visit was to watch my daughter's high school band perform in the school auditorium. The auditorium appeared to be older, yet it was well-maintained, very comfortable, and the band's sound carried well. The view of the stage from any seat in the auditorium was clear. The staff and student volunteers were amazing, friendly, and welcoming. Parking is available in any one of the multiple parking lots adjacent to the auditorium. read more

Both of my daughters attend Valencia. The first graduated in 2016. We can share from our personal experience that the IB/Val Tech programs are the best in the state. Valencia consistently has the highest number of IB graduates and about 90+% of students pass their AP exams. We've met some of the most caring and knowledgeable teachers and counselors. VHS offers many sports, clubs, band and creative programs for students to join and make friends. Valencia offers many opportunities for growth for my children. We are thankful for the many wonderful programs and people we've met. There is no one perfect high school out there. Valencia represents real-world diversity, rigor and opportunities to help our children prepare for their college, careers, and life. I'd highly recommend VHS to any student who is ready to take on new experiences, and be academically challenged. We live in a district with 4 excellent high schools. I absolutely loved this school while I attended it 2012-2015. The teachers really care about students and help them to succeed and really prepare them for college. If I still lived in Cali I would take my children to this school. Very advanced classes and if you really want to succeed they will be there every step of the way. I had the best counselor and amazing teachers that's I still keep in touch to this day. Love Ms. Aronson she's the best science teacher ever! The library is amazing has a huge variety of books. The apples here suck. They used to be good but lately they've been giving out slimy apples with a bad smell, almost seems like they've gone bad. Valencia High School - Little kid - Middle Schools & High Schools Near Me - Placentia, California

You should not trust the educators and administrators in this school and district: In her sophomore year, my daughter was berated by a group of jazz band members during class section while the jazz band director was present. I asked the band director to address the incident to the band members. My requests were ignored by both band directors. My daughter was traumatized by the incident throughout the rest of her high school year and beyond. In her junior year, her flute stand was stolen from the band room. The band director didn't even mention it to the band. We later spotted the child of jazz band director was using it during band performance. Going to band became an emotional hell for her during her senior year marching season. In December 2019, right after she was permitted to quit band, her saxophone disappeared from her cubie after Jazz 1 evening practice. Hours after we filed a police report, her saxophone case was put back in her cubie but her saxophone, a high-end instrument, was gone. Later we found out that another student's saxophone case was stolen during the same time frame. The band director was present in the band room while the grand theft occurred. He did not report the facts to Placentia police and has been tight lipped about his and the jazz band director's whereabouts ever since. The assistant principle of the high school insisted there was nothing out of the ordinary on the surveillance video. In fact, the video should captured the movement of the other student whose saxophone case was stolen and thus narrowed down the time frame of the theft to be the time period only band directors had access to the band room. All these facts have been suppressed by the high school, the school district, and Placentia police. To discredit my complaints to CDE, the school district staged their own investigation and shut me off the whole process and withheld their incident report from me until CDE was pressured to deny my appeal in May 2021. Both the band director, VHS assistant principal and principal made false statements and omitted crucial facts to CDE during the whole complaint process. I believe the school district and its legal counsel submitted the same statements to CTC to fend off my complaint in November 2020. When the bully, petty theft, and then grand theft occurred, I thought it was the toxic Valencia High School Band to be blamed for the misery my daughter has been through for years. Then I found out Valencia High School actually refused to investigate. PYLUSD figured out how to block my access to the evidence related to the grand theft, violate its own Uniform Complaint Procedures to contain exposure of my complaint, and then stop my complaint to CDE by making up alternative facts and destroy crime evidence. Since October 2021, four of the district board members have copy of all the facts I submitted to CDE to disclose the falsehood of the district's investigation reports. However, they have remained silent. read more

I think Parents need to think thoroughly before you send your children to this school. As a gifted kid's parent, I think this school needs to improve on their school Conselling. The counselor we had was not helpful. I felt like we had to beg to get the guidance or seek outside help. I don't recommend this school. read more

I graduated from this school the year of Covid 2020. Overall the 1st year, everything was good. What I didn't appreciate was the students, especially the football team. They think picking on random people especially one special need kid I knew personally, who has a disability. Not cool to record someone & make fun of them. Do the coaches teach them how to treat others with respect? I disliked how I was treated differently & the students I knew personally would make up lies & excuses to ruin my year. The only teachers I would shout-out to is Ms.Harding, coach Takeshi, Racobs & Vandam + Gardner also Ms.Lee favorite teachers. Another is, finding my place in the school was difficult I had to figure out where I stand on my own. If you accidentally drop your skateboard and.Vasquez would take it away for the entire day, so ridiculous. Sometimes I hear students he doesn't give them back for a year. Thankfully I graduated & received my diploma. Going separate ways was really good because, I never want to see any student I knew in this school. I read more

I like what the transformations the school has taken since I was here. New digital marquees, programs classrooms and fencing all around the school. I tried to do a walk through with my girl and they said no its a closed campus. What happened to the days when mom and used to be able to come in and whip your ass in front of your peers. It's what the kids need nowadays. It's like a fortress and that's good for the safety of the kids but makes it unfriendly for the parents. I'm just getting to know what's up here so far I like the changes. read more

After further inspection of the food at this school I would have to say that the food has gotten better but the line can take quite a bit of time to get your food and while waiting in that line you would have to stand in the hot sun bakeing in the heat. read more

Compared to Savannah where I went as a Sophmore & Junior this was school was quite a shock. Sure looks different than when I went there in '65. It was a big deal when when they carpeted the hallways,we beat Villa Park HS in baseball,twice. read more

Now...I've been to all of the high schools in the district. This one is THE best. They have many programs that help the students prepare for college. What a thought! The kids here were regular and the teachers didn't have their heads in their asses. Shout to: Mr. Greenhill (Best auto shop instructor...he sure cared about his students!) , Mrs. Greenwald, Mr. Kramer and Mr. Pike! Wow has the campus changed in the 40 years since I graduated in 1973! Very high tech classrooms and clearly offer a lot to the students. It was a bit scary to hear about the IB students graduating with 4.8 GPA's though... gosh, I graduated in the top 10 in my class when 4.0 was the top! No pressure on these kids at all, but that is the way of the world these days. There were about 1400 students when I graduated and now there are almost 2700. Yikes, that's a lot of hormones running around to keep corralled. Lockers were all gone, senior quad as I knew it was gone, lots of new buildings. Wonder who is paying for all this?? I had a few winterguard competitions here, and below, Jef H. said that they had good breakfast burritos, so I figured why not? They were a bit salty and dry for my taste, but it wasn't a bad breakfast burrito by any means. I can't really say much since I'm not a student there, but as a guest I had a good time fulfilling my question about whether the breakfast burritos were truly good or not. (Let's not mention the fact that they sold italian ice with the strangest name--Big Daddy. Yes, I nearly choked getting it out while avoiding eye contact with the person taking my order.) Recently my little sister was a victim of school bullying and the school did not take the situation as seriously as it should... as punishment the students who bullied her HAD to write apology letters. No police action was taken and no further punishment was inacted to prove the severity of their actions. This goes on at many schools nation wide and is a real problem in our society. I went to VHS all four years of my high school career and know how they like to cover things up and not upset the parents, in which they are afraid would sue them for pointing out their child for bullying. They know it is happening more often then not,but dont react until the chils who is bullied is on the brink of breaking, so they put a bandaid on it and pretend like its no big deal. This is not ok. the couseler that dealt with this specific case and did not follow through with school policy... From descriptions from my son and my own experiences at back to school nights, the school is huge... 2000 students. The student fault ratio is large, but this is expected in public schools. Valencia has a vigorous program in IB, ValTech, and their sports. For a high school, school spirit is okay but not the best. From what I've heard and seen, the students seem to be segregated by ethnicities however. The school culture seems nice enough. read more
