This review is for the music program only. My nephew who is a junior and will graduate in the class of 2020 is in the Jazz Program. He's in Jazz 1 which is the highest level of student musicians. There three levels currently...3, 2 and 1. We've attended several concerts in the El Dorado Music Center. It's a great place with good seats and great acoustics. But best of all is the music director, Eric Sampson. He's done a fabulous job with the kids. Usually when they have a concert they will invite a big name musician to come and mentor and play accompany the band. This year they had Bijon Watson an accomplished trumpet player. If you get a chance to come see these kids play, do it! They're unbelievably talented. read more

To begin with, I would go to any school except this one. However, I'm stuck since I can't transfer anymore. Let's start off with the restrooms. There are two men's restrooms but one of them is constantly closed. The only one that is usually open is on the far side of campus, so most of the time it's a 7-9 minute long excursion just to take a leak. And COMPLETELY forget about trying to drop a duce, you'll miss the whole class lesson. Sometimes that's not a bad thing, but whatever. Another huge problem is the constant chiefing in the bathrooms, and sometimes it's so bad I can't even get to the toilet. It's smells like ganja and strawberries, sure, but I'd rather take my pisser and get out. There is mother EVER done about the problem, as much as they pretend to try. This is just a side note, but one time I almost got hit by the campus security in a golf cart. read more

My step-daughter attended this school for four years and turned-out alright (mostly). My Niece currently attends El Dorado and academically it seems to be a good school, just be forewarned that if you let your kid participate in band they will be constantly yelled at, forced to attend practices early in the morning and late at night (I guess learning how to play the same-old marching band songs over and over is more important than homework) forced to attend practices on school holidays, participate in endless fundraisers and if by some chance your kid gets injured outside of school know that they will be yelled-at and told how they let the whole team down (uh, she was riding a skateboard, not a bucking Bronco at the Rodeo, deal with it!) Other than that the school seems nice, the new Performing Arts Center looks good. read more

The math department is awful.. Look into it was carefully before you decide to place your child there.look into other schools in district before going here. My child came from a private school. It was a huge mistake sending her here.My other two children will not be attending El Dorado.If you can swing placing your child into a private school do it..At least there the teachers are held accountable for their behaviors and can be replaced if need.. read more

The problem w/ these reviews of EDHS is the reviewer is not listing their class. My son and daughter are class of 2000. It was a great hs during there 4 years. Both went off to excellent colleges and now have excellent careers. My daughter became a teacher at EDHS. I agree that the counseling office was terrible back then. In my view having tutored many students over the past 20 Years EDHS has taken a dive in the quality of education. Connie Gross, Mr. Oberly, John Frank, coach Wolfe, Stephanie Roberts and other star performers no longer work there. The decline in the quality of education and standards at EDHS rest at the office door of the principal and District Office. Education will never excel without leaderships and teacher support from school administration. EDHS is not the caliper it once was. read more

This school has to be the best school I ever attended, trust me on this when I say I have attended some terrible horrible schools, but this school gave me motivation to continue a education and one day to have a successful career. The one thing is the councilors, I was given a terrible councilor who wanted me to just drop out and would remind me week by week. tbh it's a pretty good school...many teachers are amazing at keeping on top of students

The guidance counselor my child has been assigned is awful. She told me that my child should stop trying to pursue attending a 4 year college as my child is in a low Math. We were telling my child at home to continue on and do the best in math possible and with summer school it might be possible. The counselor told my child to just focus on graduating high school. Then, when we stepped back and thought okay maybe we should take this into perspective and focus on a two year transfer program the counselor gave incorrect information. We no longer work with the HS counselor and instead we have set our child up with a pathway counselor at a community college who is amazing. The community college counselor has given my child real hope and direction along with great advice. Also, II want to address ongoing concerns for the safety of students as they enter and exit campus. We have seen accidents and near misses many times. At this time, the administration has done nothing to step up. Taking precautionary measures would go a long way to helping . read more

I am a student in EDHS, currently in my senior year. In all my years, all I have learned are to take better test. Homework's are due the next day and exams are tight. The school facilities are horrible and cafeteria food was not good at all. Students with depression are unaware, and last year in 2015 one of our teacher "Jillian Jacobson" committed suicide in the school classroom. Teachers are mean and rude in EDHD especially Mr. Ash, who was my health teacher and have "roidrage" during class periods. I made a bad mistake going to this school, and I don't want you guys to have the same. read more
