My kid has a "reading buddy" who comes and reads to him once a week from the upper grade levels, which I think is a great idea. There is no bad thing to say, really. I was so nervous bringing my kid here, because the BetterSchools rating is 6/10, but really, it's truly an amazing school, and the teachers and staff really care.

I want to focus my review on the Expanded Learning Program that provides after school care for my children. My family can go on and on about how exceptionally wonderful this program is! Mrs. Behan is the ABSOLUTE BEST and works so hard every day to ensure our children are not only supported, but are cared for and loved. When we first joined the program years ago, the idea of leaving my kids in someone else's care was unsettling. My worries quickly dissolved and it's to the point where my kids don't want to leave when I pick them up. They absolutely adore Mrs. Behan and enjoy all the amazing activities and opportunities the program offers. They have gotten to participate in drama club, basketball club, Lego club, and yoga just to name a few. The environment is welcoming and the kids are so well behaved and play well together. This could not happen without great leadership. I feel so lucky to have my children a part of this program and do not take it for granted. I am writing to report a very concerning incident that occurred at Kraemer Middle School while I…read morewas there for my daughters' softball games. After dropping my daughters off with the girls, I went back toward the lunch area because I realized I had dropped some money and wanted to see if it was still there. While I was looking for my money, a male security officer approached me and told me in a very rude and disrespectful manner that I needed to leave the school grounds. I explained to him that I was only looking for money that I had dropped. His response was, "I don't care, it's gone." He then told me that if I did not leave, he was going to use pepper spray on me. He repeated the statement approximately three times. He was also on the phone and told someone that he needed to have the pepper spray ready in case someone did not exit the school grounds. I understand that security personnel may have rules they are required to enforce, and I have no problem following school policies. However, the way this situation was handled was completely inappropriate. If parents and spectators were not permitted to enter that area, there should have been clear signs or security personnel at the entrance informing people of the restrictions. Instead, I was allowed to enter and was then confronted in this manner when I was simply trying to retrieve my belongings. I was especially disturbed by the repeated threat of being pepper-sprayed. There is a difference between asking someone to leave school property and threatening them with chemical spray. I do not believe anyone should be spoken to or threatened in that manner, especially a parent who was there for her children's softball games. I also want the school district and school administration to review this security officer's conduct, including whether his statements and actions were consistent with the district's policies regarding interactions with parents and visitors. Additionally, I felt that the officer's behavior toward me was disrespectful and intimidating, and I am concerned about whether other parents or families have experienced similar treatment. I would appreciate this matter being taken seriously and investigated. Please let me know that this complaint has been received and advise me of the appropriate next steps and how this incident will be addressed. I will also be addressing this to the school district on how they have security officers conduct themselves on campuses when no students are currently there . Usually when they have a concert they will invite a big name musician to come and mentor and play accompany the band. This year they had Bijon Watson an accomplished trumpet player.
