I got a REALLY REALLY bad case of food poisoning from their flank steak. I usually don't write Yelp reviews, especially negative Yelp reviews, but this was the worst food poisoning I've ever had and their only remedy was to offer me a comped meal. The last thing I want while I'm sick with your food is a free meal from the place that got me sick. I've seen past reviews about their failure to maintain food temperature and it's clearly something that they need to vastly improve. So happy and excited that Gainesville has a new healthy, fast casual alternative so everything already offered. Vale is on Archer right off i-75, which is a convenient stopping point for visitors AND an accessible location for Gville residents. The option there are incredible as they're vegan friendly but also have great option for meat lovers. They have everything from their light, great tasting avocado toast, to their amazing Sriracha honey chicken meatballs and their sweet-tooth filling acai bowls at their superfood station. Free detox water, protein shakes, healthy juices and all, this place fills everyones needs. I went in for the first time not knowing what I would expect. Hearing all the rave from my friends in Tallahassee that go crazy over the place there too, I had to try it out and was not disappointed at all. I originally got a regular bowl that comes with 2 bases, 2 veggies and 2 protein (which is awesome because you can try so much and if not just get double of whatever you want) and was extremely satisfied by the meal. I got the veggie quinoa and sweet potatoes, the brussel sprouts and coconut cauliflower, and the sriracha honey chicken meatballs and ancho pulled pork which was all perfectly seasoned and extremely filling. The sauces available were also real good and its awesome that you can get 2 so you can try them all. The chipotle mayo and curry honey mustard sauce are 2 of my favorites. When I looked over at my friends acai bowl though, I knew I had to try it. Thankfully they have two serving sizes as well so the smaller one was perfect. The fruit was extremely fresh and ripe and the options available were great. They always have their staple bases of protein and also constantly add in and switch up some extra ones too so you can come back for different meals throughout the day and not have the same thing which I think is great! Everything is organic and is basically whole foods quality which is another huge plus. The interior design is nice and clean, with an awesome chalk design on the outdoor tables and walls. It gives a very earthly, organic look with the wooden style tables and chairs as well. The indoor herbal garden that I think is extremely creative gives it a great down to earth feel as well. All in all, I was very satisfied and very happy with my choice of going to Vale and will definitely be stopping by again. read more

I really do enjoy Vale. If I could actually rate this on a scale out of 10, it would be about a 7.5 for me. I love that I don't feel like garbage after eating here. I usually come and grab a bite to eat when I don't have the energy to cook but want to feel like I ate real food. Vale has a wide variety of options including items that are both vegan and vegetarian friendly. I also love that you can pick your own sized portion, which is great because I typically can't finish a large anywhere! With that being said, I have a few large gripes about Vale. For one, STAY AWAY FROM THE POKE BOWLS!! The Poke bowls are seriously awful. I'm a huge fan of poke bowls in general, but I've ordered twice from here and both times the rice was hard and cold (and also is some weird type of seasoned brown rice). The sauces on the poke bowls taste a little funky as well. I would like to see this item either revamped or taken off the menu, it isn't being done justice here. Poke bowls aside, there are consistency issues every few times I come here. While the açaí bowls are usually great, I've gotten them really watery and had to toss them a few times. I also wish there was a way to tip the employees. All in all, I'll always come back to Vale... I'm just staying away from the poke bowls. read more

I've been to Vale a few times now and I have to say that I really do enjoy it. Today I tried Grill Fresh and I'd definitely have to say it made me like Vale even more. They are basically the same concept, but I like what Vale has to offer better. To me, everything at Grill fresh and was pretty bland and even hot sauce didn't help. Vale does a better job say having an array of different options as well as making sure most options have a good flavor to them. My only dislike about Vale is that sometimes they give you small portions and other times they give you a good amount, guess it just depends on who's working there. But if you're looking for a more healthier, tasty meal option, totally give them a try! read more

I love Vale. It's a tough decision when walking up considering chipotle is right next to it but I chose Vale. The food at Vale is fresh and delicious. Vale is such a great, healthy alternative to the standard fast-food, unhealthy chains. I cant stop eating here! The mac and cheese was one of my favorite dishes by far. I got the small bowl and was more than satisfied. Vale offers an array of healthy options for a balanced diet. Vale also includes lots of sauces to add more flavor to the already tasty bowl. At first I did not know what to expect, but with help from the friendly staff I was able to create a delicious, healthy meal for a low price. The pricing is relatively similar to chipotle, but is a much healthier alternative. I loved knowing exactly what was going into my bowl. Personally I enjoyed the chipotle mac-and-cheese, the sweet potatoes, and the teriyaki chicken. Each item on my plate better than the last. The avocado toast and acai bowls are also superb. A great choice for the family looking for a quick bite to eat. Overall a better option than the gross undercooked food of Grill Fresh in Midtown or the neighboring unhealthy chains. I'm very excited to have a restaurant that serves healthy fresh food in the area. I'm currently doing the Whole30 which is comparable to a Paleo diet; if you aren't familiar with either meat, veggies, fruits and nuts are about all I can eat. After hearing many of my friends rave about Vale Food Co. in Tallahassee, I was so pumped to hear that it was coming to Gainesville. I was extremely pleased to see such a variety of healthy options in one restaurant. Vale Food Co. has food for meat lovers, vegetarians and vegans, a rare thing for Gainesville. There are two food stations; one station for hot meals and another for acai bowls, poke bowls and toast. The restaurant has a chipotle-style set up, but I noticed the difference between Vale and Chipotle was the quality. The second I took a bite of my meal, I knew I was eating high-quality food. I have always been a HUGE fan of Fresh Kitchen, so it was so exciting to see that Vale offered similar choices of food (if not better). The chipotle mac is delicious and satisfying, and I personally paired it with coconut cauliflower, quinoa and ancho chicken. Let's talk about the sauces at Vale...SO GOOD. The honey siracha is the perfect amount of spicy, with a lingering sweetness to it that is out of this world. The ambiance of the restaurant is trendy and appealing. Vale Food Co. is very family-friendly and also a great place for a lunch break during work. As a college student, price matters. It was nervous that food this good would not be cheap. To my surprise, Vale's prices are very affordable for the quality food they serve. They offer endless combinations, I can't wait to go back and try a new dish! As a self-proclaimed health nut, I can honestly say Vale surpassed my expectations. Prior to my visit, I had already established my trust in this restaurant -- my FSU friends had nothing but positive things to say about the food, service, and convenience at the Tallahassee location. So here's my two cents about the overall experience: Food: Amazing, unique, and consistent. After two visits (already) to Vale, I haven't tried one item that I didn't like. My personal favorites are the chipotle mac and the pulled chicken. The options are unique; unlike most chipotle-style restaurants that offer a set group of veggies and proteins, this restaurant mixes it up and puts interesting spins on classic favorites. Equally important, the quality of the food is 100% consistent. I'm overly picky about under- or over-cooked foods and was very satisfied with the consistency here. Atmosphere: As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by an earthy vibe. There's an indoor herb garden and tons of seating throughout. There are indoor and outdoor seating options (I chose indoor so that I could see how the customer service was). Overall, it's a fun and casual ambiance. If you're looking for a quick meal, the employees will make it happen. And if you're looking to meet up with friends for an extended period of time, you'll also be in good hands and won't feel rushed at all. Service: Everyone here truly cares about the customers, and it's evident after only 2 visits. I asked about sauces and they recommended chipotle sauce for the mac which really added flavor and ranch for the shrimp and mushrooms. So good. Yesterday was my first time at Vale and while the food was okay the service was terrible. I had two orders and in between the second and first order the cashier was writing something down so I said "Let me know when you are ready for the second order" and I shuffled to the trashcan ~5 feet away to throw something out. When I walked back the cashier threatened to throw my order out and asked me to leave the restaurant, I found this alarming and extremely insensitive because he claims he was talking to me, but the entire time he was barely mumbling to me. I have a hearing impairment and was constantly putting my ear up to the glass trying to hear him and he made no effort to speak louder. I also let the cashier know that I had a hearing impairment. I was embarrassed and infuriated. Every other restaurant I have told about my hearing issues immediately is understanding, but Vale was defensive and was asking me to leave. All when I was just trying to pick up two poke bowls for me and my girlfriend. And to top it off they were out of avacado for the poke bowl. Half of their menu has avacado? How is that acceptable. I will not be going back to Vale to pay for overpriced bad service. read more

This was my first time coming to Vale, a friend recommended the overnight oats to me & being that I'm pregnant I've been trying to eat healthier so I went to give it a shot. As I'm walking in, it's not busy, maybe 5 people tops in the restaurant, my husband and I greet the girl at the front. She says nothing, we aren't greeted. As I walk past to the hot side there is a sign on the wall that clearly states OVERNIGHT OATS. So we're in line and I ask for them. I get the worst attitude from the same girl who didn't greet us back and she goes "what is it with people coming in here and asking for overnight oats?! you're the second person, we DONT have them." She had really curly hair and wore an orange hat, trust me when I say I will make an effort to go back there just to get her name because I've worked in the food industry for 6 years now and that is not the way you address someone inquiring about a menu item. So I walk over to where it clearly says OVERNIGHT OATS pointing to it and tell her I'm confused, she goes "oh, well they just haven't taken that off the wall yet. First you don't know what I'm talking about and now you're telling me that they haven't taken the sign down. Wonderful. I honestly wasn't even upset about them not having the item but the way I was spoken to and treated by her yesterday night (3/15/18) I won't step foot in there again. read more
