I hired NP Exteriors to install my roof and gutters in 2018…read more They were one of the more expensive bids I got, but I just had a good feeling about them, and I was right. They were very professional and informative through the whole project. They made a mistake and took ownership of it and came back out to repair it (needed 1-2 more hole vents in my eaves). More so, a couple years later, when I was getting chimney work done, it was noted I had a leak along my chimney. I contacted NP exeriors, they came out to look and had the issue corrected within a few days.

We had a 21-year-old Rheem water heater that was still doing okay but had never been serviced, so…read morewe didn't want to push our luck. I got four bids. The Rheem estimate from the big box store was ridiculous; the teaser price went up by 50% once they actually itemized the install. Emerald City's came in comparable to our usual plumber, but with the added benefit of getting another Rheem instead of a different brand and adding an automatic shut-off in case of leaks. Emerald City partners with McClendon Home Services for the water heater installs. Jesse and Aaron were on time and professional. Jesse checked our meter at the street and explained why we didn't need an expansion tank and, in fact, why having one could unnecessarily increase our water bill. We now have a 10-year parts-and-labor warranty and peace of mind. We also got an estimate for windows, but unfortunately Emerald City doesn't currently provide exterior painting services. We still might loop back with them in the future for first-floor windows where we could paint the trim ourselves. Overall, we're happy with the communication, customer service, and value.

Emerald City won the bid to replace 41 windows on our house. On the plus side, we installed Milgard…read moreUltra windows and are very happy with them. They look nice and the low-E panes on the south side of the house made a huge difference this summer. The estimate was two weeks for the job, and then did finish on time. On the negative side, they didn't do a good job cleaning up afterwards. Besides the trash left in the yard, I picked up around 3 dozen (I started counting after the first handful) screws and nails from the driveway. They keep showing up because they left so many in the yard. We've had two flat tires (although it is hard to directly state it is from the window install, it is likely). I also found one screen that didn't fit right. I reached out to the project managers about the issues but never heard back. Watching them install the windows, I suspect they will hold up well this winter when it rains, but won't know for sure until a full season has passed.

The work was completed efficiently and with great attention to detail. They also did an excellent job cleaning up when everything was finished, which we really appreciated. The quality of the work and the finished product exceeded our expectations. It's not often you find a company that delivers this level of professionalism and quality from beginning to end. We highly recommend Mears Roofing and will definitely use them again!

I called them with some questions after their work was done, and they gave me the same level of personal attention that I got when I was first asking for a quote (which means a lot). I even overheard some neighbors walking by saying our roof looks better than any other house on the block--which is a huge compliment since we live in a really nice neighborhood! I'm glad I used Mears and I'll definitely be recommending them to all my friends and family. David C. (Renton)

First of all, there are a few trades you want to be careful about going with the lowest bid…read more Concrete is one of them. You get a fly-by-night crew messing up your concrete, and there's no easy solution. I got three bids on my patio. Sione's was the most expensive. But in the walk-thru, Paul noticed things the other contractors didn't. He asked really good questions and provided a price quickly. His decades of experience was evident. So I decided to spend more and use him. He and his crew didn't disappoint. I wanted an arc on the end of the patio, and they worked on the form until I was happy with it. They answered all my questions and I had a lot. I'd overseen a lot of commercial concrete in my career, but was unfamiliar with several things they did during this residential job. It wasn't wrong, it was just unfamiliar. They explained why they were doing what they were doing, so I withheld judgment until the end. There were a couple of details in their prep work I wasn't happy with. They changed them without complaint or argument. And they cleaned up after they were done. On top of everything else, the crew was amazingly fast. Concrete is brutal work, but these guys moved like a well-oiled machine. The result was a beautiful product. No low spots, perfect slope, clean joint, beautiful radiused edges. I will definitely use them again when I'm ready to replace my old driveway. And I will recommend them to anyone I know looking for quality concrete work.

Unfortunately, we have experienced a dishonest/unethical contractor in the past, and Paul has proved to be honest and has integrity with fair pricing.

JD and his team recently completed a major remodel project at my house and I could not be happier…read morewith the results. The project was to demo 800 square feet of 30 year old tile and install new tile flooring that runs from the large entry way under the front door into the living room of my house. With huge plate glass windows throughout the space. There was also a rainwater drainage issue that needed a solution. All my concerns about the tile layout and sloping for drainage and protecting the big windows were all addressed both upfront and throughout process. This job included removing the old tiles, machine grinding to remove old cement and rebuilding of the cement base outside, putting in a new drainage pipe through a cement frame under a glass wall and then installing the new tile. The end result is a beautiful new tile floor. I highly recommend DJ and his team to handle your home remodel projects.

Quality of work = 2 out of 5 Communication = 1 out of 5…read moreFollow up/through = 1 out of 5 JD General is a cheaper option. A prime example of you get what you pay for. I believe they have the skill set to do basic repairs and projects. Maybe even more than easy, but it seems when any sort of adversity comes the quality falters. I had a driveway done, which does look nice, but ended up cracking in quite a few places. Not two or three places, but all over. Cracking across the majority of the driveway. I asked about any sort of warranty, having one or two cracks I could've looked past it. When it continued and started cracking all over it got frustrating. Especially when JD came out and looked at the cracks and told me he would ask his concrete guys about a fix. (At this point I was already anticipating he would NOT get back to me, and what do you know. Ghosted.) No communication after that, no attempts to update me on any sort fix. For anyone that reads the reviews. You'll notice the out of country, had an emergency excuse. He used that excuse with me as well after blowing us off for multiple days at a time. Seems fishy. Cheap contractor. Cheap work. Bad customer service. I'd recommend to do your due diligence and get more quotes especially if these guys are your only one. It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
