Appreciate the extra care they take and show towards our elderly pups. They've taken care of six of our dogs over the past 20 yrs.

We love Jerry! He is great with all of our dogs. We rescued 3 dogs from the local animal shelter and Jerry worked miracles with each of them. If you see the before & after pics of Mr. Bentley, he was in rough shape. Jerry took his time and worked his magic. He is patient and knowledgeable of many different breeds. We have yet to try their boarding services but we would feel comfortable leaving our extended family with Jerry! read more

The visit to this kennel was OK. My dog seem to be happy when I picked him up. The staff seem knowledgeable and friendly.

I called them originally and they said they needed vaccination papers from for rabies, kennel cough, etc. So I called the animal shelter. I adopted the dog actually she went there and she emailed me a PDF of all her documentation, including when she was spayed when she was vaccinated, etc.. So I called them back and told them I could email him those papers . They refuse. They have to have a hand copy given to them. They refused to accept a PDF. Furthermore, they refused to accept the paperwork from the animal shelter. They have to have the original certificate and a copy of the paper handed to them. These guys are a major pain. I do not recommend them. I had previously used kennels before another dog had. The copies of the papers from the animal shelter were sufficient for them. I don't recommend them unless you have original copies of your rabies vaccination and your spay papers and have a printer and exact copy for them. These guys are too difficult to deal with. read more

I was going on a trip and was so worried about my two puppies never been away from them, I searched long and hard to find the best care for my puppies, after I went to them I was at ease, my puppies were cared for very well, I was able to call and get updates daily, I was a bit jealous when I picked them up they were so happy to see me, and adored the caretakerbut it let me know they were treated well I'm so happy to have picked them, and I will be using them again. read more

I have use this Kennel a bunch of times and never had any issues until now. I brought my two dogs in to be housed while we were on our family vacation. When I picked up my dog brought him home to notice he was walking weird and acting funny. We took off his sweater and noticed he had a HUGE hole and cut in his armpit and yellow pus coming out of it. We took him to the emergency vet who told us his injury was a few days old. He needed antibiotics and 5 stitches. The owner of Val Vista had the nerve to tell me this was an "Act of God" and that they are not responsible for it. Then the owner tried to say well maybe you brought him in this way. What a slap in the face!! What they fail to understand is that my dog was injured while THEY were being PAID to take care of him and they failed to get him any help or even notice he was walking funny and not baring weight on his front paw. I asked them to refund me the 1026.00 it cost to house him for two week and they refused to refund me. Seeing how my Vet bill was 1361.00 and I am getting another bill when my dog goes back to the Vet in two weeks I felt a refund was more.than fair. PLEASE DO NOT EVER TAKE YOUR DOGS THERE!! When I posted my story on Facebook someone commented and told me they haven't heard good things about this place in years. I wish I would have known. I have boarded my aging 10 year old puppy with Kidney issues for the past year. They have a vet and took care of our dog. We have even boarded him for about a month. Unlike any other boarding place, my pup is ALWAYS excited to go here! However, we didn't like the grooming job they did. Though we LOVE and trust the place. FYI: Always remember to pay for extra play time or else your pup will be in a sad and lonely cage while you're away (most places are like this, they are only paid to watch out, feed and potty the dogs, others are extra). A lot. I trusted my dog with them for a couple of years but I never really watched closely because I travel a lot and they appear to care about the animals. They charged me for giving my dog her meds but they never gave them to her. It wasn't about the financial rip off, it was about my dogs health. My dog already had got an ear infection there that was so bad I had to pay over three hundred dollars plus the price of the pills which these people never gave her. Made my wonder did she ever get the walks the was promised. Then, to add insult to injury they accused me lying and putting pull in the container myself. Stupid. I spent thousands of dollars for these people to give my dog bad treatment, many diarrheas and two weeks without her medication AND they charged me for the privilege . This is the worst so-called Pet Hotel I ever used. I share the fault for choosing the cheapest low rent kennel trying to save a nickel but this is proof you get what you pay for.And their attitude was nasty and arrogant. They should be inspected. I took my puppies to the kennel, One doesn't eat much, I took them to the vet, The Doctor prescribed vitamins, But her appetite hadn't picked up, After taking my puppies here, When I picked them up. She's eating, she had put on a bit of weight after being there, I'm calling today to get suggestions on how to get her to eat , I'm so grateful to them. I don't trust anyone with my puppies, My puppies don't trust easily not even my family members,they are very shy and timid ,always clinging on to me and my husband But they love the caretaker there which lets me know they were taking care of them properly I cried after being away from my puppies just one day of being with my daughter I know she loves them. I was comfortable an entire week of being there, I enjoyed my vacation, didn't worry at all There is a calm feeling there. My puppies kept kissing the caretaker, Yes I was jealous but a good jealous , I just smiled because they really like him I went from being over protective about my puppies to definitely going to take them there again. He is now officially part of our family. Thank you so much for taking great care of my babies. I know this is long, But If you are searching for a kennel This is a good one. We all love our babies, and want the best of care for them My husband said I'm over protective over them and he was going to cancel the trip, He knew I couldn't be away from our babies one day, To his surprise after taking them to the kennel I was ok We will be bringing them back. THIS IS YOUR NEW GROOMER, KENNEL and VET CARE I was so fortunate to have discovered this gem of a place! Wonderful loving people and my dog knew it too, he walked righ in and went with Jerry and didnt look back! The groomer and I talked about Ricos grooming needs, hes a rescue and Im concerned not to frighten him with loud noises; he understood completely, and wouldnt cause him any stress. you can trust them with your baby, theyre motivation to do this work comes out of their love for animals. When I picked Rico up, he was handsome, soft & shiny, smelled marvelous all 100 lbs of him, and he was happy, no panick no stress, all was good in his world! Perfect! he got a bath and i got peace of mind, AND I was so surprised how very affordable they are! PS Id like to address the weird negatives, take them with a grain if salt, look at how many reviews they have, and remember; its hard to make that nany people happy, The important thing is they love animals and like what they do, they do an outstanding job and the place has good energy your dogs wont freak out, he knows when people are good. This is a updated review . When I first used ValVista boarding for our Rescue dogs. It all went smoothly . As months went on we rescued quite a few dogs but were unable to get them transported to our rescue as quickly as we would have liked to. My credit card was on file and could have been charged weekly for the dogs . What this facility would do is wait until the dogs left instead of charging out bill weekly . Well as busy as we are in rescue unknown to me . They didnt charge out weekly . So when the last dogs were licked up some had been there a month what they did was charge me the full bill at one time for all the dogs for many days with no itemized bill. Which was crazy. Many thousands of dollars at one time instead of a weekly charge out where it wouldnt have been a shock and unable to pay that large amount . We prided ourselves on paying all vet and boarding and transport bills in full. Until ValVista . That is not the way to run a business. Lazy billing and giving a rescue a unexpected bill.when there was a credit card in file . read more

This place is dirty. The way they do business and the facilities are dirty. Every time I bring my dog home there is poop on her feet and she smells like she has been laying down in a kennel that has never been washed or cleaned. They are always raising prices. And the secretary that receives the animals takes forever to do anything. They made me prepay. And when I took my dog out 2 days early they said I have a 90 credit. They are a small shop. There is no reason why the credit should only be 90 days. So I brought it up to them and told them I want longer credit seeing as I had no vacation planned for that. They said sorry that's the policy. When I told them " your policy is stupid", the guy banned me and told me to never come back. Which I was already planning. Every time I leave there with my dog I have a regretful feeling. This place is disgusting. Try anywhere else. read more

Our dogs are absolutely cherished and important to us. However not the most well behaved. We recently decided we had to find a new Groomer & Boarding place in the AV. After alot of research we chose Val Vista Kennels. I am hard to satisfy & I'm definitely satisfied. We have left our dogs @ Val Vista Kennels twice in the last month. One of my dogs that is from a rescue whose mother was extremely malnourished during her pregnancy, absolutely isn't an easy dog to handle. He is small weighing in at 13 lbs but he thinks he's Cujo. The caretakers at Val Vista showed compassion & care which is something we don't see often in the World anymore. I'm not sure how they feel about our Nixon but we will certainly be going back for board & groom as long as they'll have them. read more

I do not recommend this place ! we left our dog there for Thanksgiving and for Christmas because we had no other choice! When we got him back for Thanksgiving he had poop in his paws and on his coat and they just gave us a dog back like that until I asked for something to wash him with ( old damp washcloth) before I put them in my car ! Christmas we had to pay upfront the prices were increased for both Thanksgiving and for Christmas ! He had poop in his paws that time too! ( we were ready) We say watch out for the senior dog rate , watch out for the bring your own food rate, watch out for the wash your blanket rate , and watch out for the time that you pick up your dog otherwise you have to pay a whole day if not picked up on time in the morning! The most unfortunate thing is that it all felt very racially motivated, especially when the owner said he had cameras recording as soon as we walked in ! I felt sad for my dog, we had nonrefundable reservations for both days for the holidays! We will never miss making reservations for our dog first! I left my dog here for 5 hours and brought my own dog food. They left him in a cage inside with a dog bed and some bowls to put food and water. When I picked him up, the male working in the front said that he gave him a different type of food because supposedly the food I brought fell in the cage. ****The worker fed my dog a different type of food without my consent.** My dog was acting drowsy that same day after I picked him up and had bloody stool for the next couple of days. It's been 3 years I've been taking my Yorkies to Jackie & Jerry. Unfortunately, Kasper has left us but Big Foot still my bud. The care and professionalism is outstanding. When it's necessary to leave your "LOVED ONES" this is where you can feel assured it's like being with you. Previous groomers here in AV have clipped & cut their nails and scraped them. Use this place a lot, have a mastiff so need a good place and this is it, before I got the dog at 6 months of age it must of had a bad time getting it nails clipped because anytime we would take it to get groomed they could not clip it's nails would not lay still enough and would over power groomers, dog is over 110lbs, but this place was able to do it right and after a few times no problems anymore, great service as well!! While waiting for my pet I have seen them go and get a small dog from the kennels and put it in a cage inside the office, making it seem like it had been kept in there the whole time when its owner came to pick it up. I left toys with my dog and they couldn't find them when I picked him up - what possibe explanation is there for that? Also my dog always has a deep cough when I pick him up, don't know if that's normal for kennels or not. read more

As with all businesses some people are not going to be happy, some are. We have been taking our Rat Terrier for a while now and the staff has been nothing but polite, professional and courteous. Our dog has been well taken care of. If there was an issue with her, the staff would let us know.... the price is reasonable.....the hours are good. My family have used other kennels in the past but none compare to Val Vista. I know that my dogs basic needs will not only be taken care of but they will be cared for by experts. I have Pits and Pit mixes and they can be handful at times and other kennels have expressed their personal opinions at times but Val Vista has always greeted us with smiles and professionalism. On two separate occasions, my dog was sick and vomiting after I picked him up. Now I might have been foolish enough to take him back the 2nd time but certainly not the third time. Also, on one occasion I was no more than 6-7 minutes after they closed and they wanted an extra $25 pick up my dog even though I called them and let them know that ahead of time . There hasn't been a time in my life when I didn't have a dog, so for as long as I can remember, we've taken our dog here for grooming (we've never had to use the boarding, so I cannot speak on that part of things). But what I can say is that even though my now 13-year-old doesn't love being surrounded by all the other barking dogs, he's always well groomed or shaved when we pick him up. They know who we are when I call, they're always so great when we drop off & pickup. I have used Val Vista numerous times and the last three times my dogs were left in the rain, chewed through their harness, and the last time I picked up my dog she was covered in mud and feces. No apology, no offer to give her a bath and no discussion on why my dog was neglected. Of course I was mad and of course I yelled. This is absolutely the worst most negligent place to take your pets. We use Val Vista to board our dogs when we are traveling cross country. Jerry has never failed to get in touch with me if needed and he and Jackie will go out of their way to make sure the dogs bedding has been washed and that they get groomed right before we pick them up. I just give him a call when we land in LA and the dogs are groomed and ready to pick up when we get up to the valley! My dogs love Jerry and Jackie and are always excited to go get groomed there, that tells me lots about the place. I always take the dogs back inside the kennel to cage them when we board them and it's always clean. They get to stay in cages beside one another so they can see each other and they have a nice outside run with doggie door access. read more

We have used Val Vista for our dogs for short term stays (no longer than 3 days), but each time they came back clean and happy. We no longer have the dogs, but if we did we would continue to use their services. The last time we took one of our dogs, she was actually excited to get in there. I felt really good about that. I like that they offer bathing and nail clipping services, they respected our diet limitations, cooperated with food prep, and offered some training while our pups were there, rather than just housing or crating them.
