I have always loved the beef patties at Reggae Hut Café, which is why this experience was so…read moredisappointing. The patties just don't taste the same anymore it was very dry and not freshly made. The filling now tastes more like regular ground beef instead of the flavorful, well-seasoned Caribbean-style beef patty I remember and enjoyed. The price has also increased to $5.50, while the amount of meat inside the patty has noticeably decreased. As you can see from the photos, there is a lot of crust with very little filling. I understand that prices go up, but when the price increases, I expect the quality and portion to at least remain the same or increase. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. Although I have loved these patties for years, based on the change in flavor, smaller amount of filling, and higher price, I will not be returning.

There also was a photographer that was going around to tables taking pictures and then charging $20 per frame, which is a lot if you ask me. My friends & I came here for Houston Restaurant Weeks, and it did not disappoint thankfully. Our waitress was attentive and answered any questions we had. We each ordered different appetizers, entrees, and desserts. There was an ABUNDANCE of food for the price you paid for, so I definitely appreciate that. The food was well seasoned. I definitely recommend trying this place out.

Maria is amazing at her job, she was telling my about the live music that will be going on tonight and also offered me pepper sauce which gave this dish a bit of a kick, which I love. All in all, I will most definitely return to this establishment.

I asked for a chicken roti, they were out, and out of any roti for that matter. My husband wanted curry goat, they were out of goat. I ended up getting a beef patty and jerk wings which were too tough, I could hardly chew them. I also ordered some Collard greens which were just okay. I overheard a phone order that they were processing where the person asked for red snapper fish, they were out of that. The only fish they had available was salmon. But if you take a look at their extensive menu you would see they offer many different types of fish. And lastly, we arrived at the rice and peas (which my husband calls them being stingy on the serving size). The amount of rice given is the smallest serving size of rice and peas I've ever seen served in a Caribbean restaurant. It's not nearly enough to go alongside the rest of the food. Be prepared if you order to go, you'll probably need to order a side of rice in addition to what they give you. The service is good, it's always good, they are friendly and helpful, but it doesn't make up for what they lack in food.

Thank god we found this!…read more After finishing our lunch at Wrap & Roll, we saw this out of the corner of the eye and decided to stop here as the girlfriend was looking for some caribbean snacks. Being from St Croix island in the Virgin Islands, seeing the menu and taking in the smells of this place gave her memories of back home. Of course I was happy to indulge her request as it gave me an opportunity to try some handheld eats. First the beef pattie, pretty big and so savory with the meat melting in your mouth and the dough having a nice texture and crust. And then the saheena; OMG! It was my first time having this lovely pastry which is made of chickpeas, spinach, and caribbean spices. You'll be hooked on this after one bite. Texture was similar to a savory piece of cornbread. Of course I was very happy with this item. The girlfriend ordered a currant roll which had some sweetness to it with a flaky crust. I enjoyed it but not as much as I was scarfing down my beef pattie and saheena. They also serve traditional caribbean eats including jerk chicken, oxtails, bake & saltfish, and roti wraps. We noticed a lot of people place to go orders here and call ahead for pick up. There were several bags of eats waiting as we witnessed people roll in and pick them up while having small talk with the owners. All those items looked delicious and we plan to come back and try those out. We also talked to the owners for a bit, they're a husband/wife team who've owned/operated this place for a while. Super polite and gracious, they helped me navigate the menu and explained what the items would be like when I ordered. Sadly I could not get the Aloo Pie (sold out) but they assured me it's worth having and to come back and try it (which we will). Pearland is lucky to have this place here. Definitely recommend trying it out for yourself!

You can tell right away it's authentic--everything from the curry chicken to the oxtail and roti is packed with flavor. It's not watered down for the masses, it tastes like somebody in the kitchen actually knows what they're doing. They've got that Trinidad influence too, which I appreciate. You don't see that everywhere. Stuff like doubles and buss up shut on the menu is a big deal if you know what you're looking at. Portions are solid, food comes out fresh, and overall it just hits. It's one of those spots where you keep thinking about the food after you leave. If you want real Caribbean flavor in Houston, this is one of the places you need to try.

The young lady taking our order was really nice and patient, which I appreciated since it was my first time trying Trinny food. I ordered the curry chicken with fried rice and potato salad, while my friend went for the stew chicken with roti. Honestly, my plate was just okay. The chicken was a little dry and not as full of flavor as I was hoping. Now, the potato salad? That was the star for me. I could've eaten a whole container of it--I really wish I had grabbed some to go. My friend, on the other hand, really enjoyed her meal and said it was good. The space itself is nice and clean, restrooms included, which I always notice. Overall, I'd give the experience an 8/10

Gotta admit the spiciness had my tongue tingling & my nose running but it wasn't overpoweringly spicy. Btw. I didn't request spicy, that's just how it came. Cabbage and rice & peas were tasty, standard accompaniments. My hubby got the curry goat and it too was very tasty but what got my attention was how tender the goat was! To me, the goat seemed just a little less spicy so the chicken spice level may be just how they cooked the batch that day. Upon entering, I thought it was just a takeout place because I didn't see any tables or seating. While waiting on my food, I discovered a whole other large room with seating, full bar & stage! So takeout or dine-in is definitely an option. It's a little bit of a drive for me but I would definitely return.

This was my first time coming to the food truck park and I especially came because of this truck. The staff was so nice I really contemplated about this rating for this review, but when I think about the amount of money paid for my main entree and how I couldn't eat half of it and the spice levels didn't match my expectation, I came to this. A 3.5 would have been more accurate quite honestly but alas, yelp has its system. I ordered the bake and fried fish and the doubles. I asked for spicy on the doubles but they didn't taste too spicy - instead I used the sauce included on my bake n fish (possibly had some scotch bonnet peppers) and it was excellent. The bake and fish came as tacos - I don't think I realized that. It was good, but only two small tacos. The french fries were unfortunately burnt and therefore dry and inedible. I gave up on eating them. We were in a hurry, otherwise, I would have chatted with the staff about possibly getting some new fries. I would give this another try --I'd likely try a few other trucks first or at least have something to accompany my meal in addition to what I order from Krave.
