This was the worst food I have ever been served in a restaurant. At first I thought it was maybe…read morejust me, but then when I seen my party of 6 pushing their food around I knew it wasn't me being picky. The water they brought us smelled bad and tasted worse. The rice tasted rancid, I don't know what they tried to pass off as egg rolls and the chicken balls looked like they had been in the deep fryer way too long. My mother threw up before we left the restaurant and everyone felt off the rest of the night. I don't know how this place is still opened????

Okay, I honestly don't understand the bad reviews down below but I've only had the best experience…read morewith China King ! The food was always fresh tasting and the buffet was always getting restocked as it was going quickly ! Ben is a very nice man and always stops to talk when I'm there... I've tried many Chinese establishments like my local Wong's Restaurant ( now closed as owner retired ) and the same with Ming's in New Glasgow ( owners retired too ), but in my opinion, China King is awesome from the Sweet & Sour Chicken thru the Beef Broccoli, all is flavorful and delicious, and my favorite trinity when I go there is Sweet & Sour Chicken, Honey/Garlic Spareribs and Chicken Fried Rice. I've actually got sick after eating across the way at the Rose Garden Chinese Restaurant in 2013, so my twice experience there was my last one but China King is my salvation when I have a craving for Chinese food !!!!

Finally, there is one real Chinese Restaurant left in Sydney. I saw they have a authentic Chinese…read moremenu available. Along with the standard and very affordable (8-10$ less than all the others) Pu-Pu Platter we ordered the following. Spicy Pig Intestines - I think what I tasted was a chou hu paste as the base, omg it was delicious. Green peppers, chopped chilis, onions and the most surprising thing of the night was there were Sichuan peppercorns in it! First time seeing them in a dish in CB. Not only that, they were green peppercorns - the ones that have also a citrus note. Was not spicy, so perfect for average peoples. These were clean intestines no funk or any offal odors. But it was the star of the show. Roast Duck served Peking style was next. Two crispy duck breast on a platter with the usual hoisin sauce and cucumbers and scallions. The skin was crispy and delicious, of course I would also have wanted a leg, but for this price I was very happy. Yang Chow fried rice was next, very light and fragrant with the usual YC fried rice ingredients. And it was a big portion and had some wok hai. I forgot to add char siu chinese sausage, wont forget that next time. For service, we had a waitress, a bit snarky in your true Cape Breton style. Cant wait to visit again, but unfort I live a bit aways or I would be there every week.

There is ample parking across the motel looking building. Once you enter, there is a lovely shop of trinkets and then there is a nice cozy seating area. There's a self serve sauce bar and some cute puzzles to occupy you while you. wait for your food. You can get a lunch special which comea with a drink or you can order dim sum ala carte. The staff are so lovely and were fast in service. The food itself was served hot and fresh. It wasn't overly salty and the peach drink was ice cold, perfect on a hot day. I noticed they have a buffet option on Saturdays too which is super unique. We'd love to visit again if we pass by Sydney in the future!

Went there to try their new Chili Oil they are selling. Its quite expensive, its nice and hot but…read morenot much flavor, with a sort of an off-taste. We ordered two Chicken Feet, (they forgot the second order which was supposed to be To-Go.) The Chicken Feet were undercooked and not tender at all. We also ordered Har Gow which was Delicious -five stars for that and a Wonton Soup. The Wonton Soup was bland. It did not include the obligatory veggies or cabbage and no slice of Roast Pork and the Pork Dumplings were very overcooked and falling apart. Would not order it again. So its hit or miss at this place - but its the only Dim Sum on the Island...
