Curried and pureed vegetable soup of the day

After watching the energetic Canada Day parade... our crew of 9 went looking for something to eat to satisfy the need for homemade, veggie, vegan, and meat eater preferences. We chanced on the quaint High Wheeler Cafe & Bakery which hit the mark on all of it! Really nice and welcoming staff. I ordered the soup of the day: curried and pureed veggies and the grilled veggie foccia sandwich. The cuban was fresh and flavorful. The pepper jelly that accompanied the grilled cheese was very tasty as well. My most favorite were the oatcakes, baked fresh. Crunchy and delicious! Many sandwich and fresh juice options as well. They have seating inside and outside... and is the perfect spot to take a break, regroup and plan the rest of the day ahead.

Incredible stop at the Highwheeler. Staying a few nights in Baddeck while exploring Cape Breton and stopped in here for our caffeine fix and left with a lot more. Never met a friendlier staff who explained all the delicious treats they had and even some of the local secret places to check out. We had a couple breakfast sandwiches, coffee, OJ, and homemade pop tarts. Everything was A+ but again it was the incredibly friendly and kind staff that make this a stand out spot. Felt like you were talking to your cousin you hadn't seen in awhile. Thanks Highwheeler!

This family-run cafe offers something for everyone! Enjoyed coffee and cappuccino daily, along with their rotating baked goods. We enjoyed a cinnamon roll, berry crumble, soup, bagels (one kind-sesame) and a variety of muffins over our 4 daily visits. Gluten free products are available, as are sandwiches, picnic lunches and chicken pot pies. This is the best-staffed and most friendly establishment that we visited over 8 days in the town. The morning vibe is refreshing, locals and visitors coming together in a friendly atmosphere, a special place.

Best coffee in Baddeck. Friendly service. Breakfast was good. Pastries looked old. Service was good despite the crowds.

Great atmosphere on the street patio. Downtown Baddeck is a treasure especially as the morning sun is shining over the bay!

Fantastic Place!! Think: Hot, steamy, crusty giant pancake!…read more 1. Don't let the word "pannekoek" distract you - when I ordered I asked for gluten free and the cook (CHEF) said he made gluten free pancakes (Pannekoek is a fancy word for more pancake than crepe) that were really good - and he was RIGHT! I had already had breakfast and I saw one of these - ordered it and took it with me. It was MAGNIFICIENT. I had it plain with powdered sugar and it was one of the best things I have ever eaten. I tore chunks of the steaming sweet dough and ate it in bite-size chunks as we drove with windows down with chilly wind wafting through. Oh, my friends got regular (not gluten free) waffles that they said were terrrific! 2. Don't let their web site photos influence you - the food is a thousand times better than the photos look! 3. Here is the reason we stopped. Our B&B gave us coupons for breakfast and we could use the coupon here or at The Clucking Hen. We wanted to check the places out so we stopped at the Dancing Moose and it was closed at the time. We peeked through the window and the cook (CHEF) saw us, unlocked the door, came out and said they were not open yet but "Do you need the ladies room? You are welcome to use it." Now, WHO is that nice these days? We didn't but we promised to come back so we did. We were the winners in that decision! 4. If you like, try this place. We had a great time and the food was wonderful! We went back and we will go back every time we go to Cabot Trail which will be frequent as we have visitors who come and want to see the Cabot Trail!
