I'm writing this because I find Yelp reviews tend to be written when something goes wrong. Four years ago, after moving into the city, I needed a vacuum because I suffer from allergies and living in downtown Toronto, there's a ton of dust that circulates from the perpetual construction. I tend to host often so that also introduces a lot of dust into my modestly sized apartment. Marco was great - I had intended on purchasing a Dyson because that's what you do, but Marco opened me up to a Miele S6 (now is a C2), and it has been great. I've had an excellent experience with Marko there recently when I brought my beloved Miele vacuum in to have the hose replaced as my dog managed to chew some holes in it -- she hates vacuums like many dogs. I had been there before to purchase some laundry detergent and other cleaning accessories -- they carry some German imported products that work really great and you can't find them anywhere else. Vacuums Plus also sells a wide variety of OEM vacuum bags and accessories, in addition to quality appliances (for those with European or higher-end vacuums, you may know how hard or expensive it is to find replacement vacuum bags). The location is very convenient for me as it is the only reputable vacuum store in the downtown area. My vacuum was fixed quickly and Marko even found another issue which I was never aware of and he managed to fix that too without any cost to me and improved the suction power of my vacuum! Marko is a true pro, takes pride in his work, is honest and very knowledgeable. He's also a very good resource in vacuums and other household cleaning appliances. I am in the market for a cordless vacuum and he gave me some good recommendations based on my home, lifestyle and type of use. He was never pushy nor I never felt obligated to buy anything. We needed to replace our central vac system and accessories. Based on all the positive Yelp reviews we contacted Marco at Vacuums plus. He gave us a quote, and he had the new unit installed and accessories ready for pick up within a few days. (He would have had the accessories delivered, but we wanted to pick it up in time for cleaning lady day!) His installer was awesome too, suggesting replacing the wall covers since they were so old they were leaking suction pressure. Best repair experience ever! My beat-up, older Miele vac stopped working. There's a vac repair shop close to me, in Scarborough, but I had been warned off, because of the bad experiences of a few neighbours. I checked Yelp and saw the uniformly positive reviews for Vacuums Plus, so I headed downtown by TTC, schlepping the vac. I'm so glad that I did, although I'll know to bring the hose next time! Marco Mazza, the owner, explained that the Miele has circuitry in the hose and that it can fail. Marco was fantastic. He took the vac into the shop (which is in full view of customers) and set to - dis-assembly, circuit testing, diagnosis, recommendation and repair. The power cord rewind mechanism had failed, which I knew, from Google, was a likely point of failure for a very well-used, older Miele. Marco had the replacement part in stock, had it installed in 15 minutes, replaced the (filthy, clogged) HEPA filter and I was on my way, with a vacuum good for many more years of service. I am so very pleased with the fast repair and the outstanding, professional service and want to give a HUGE shout out to Marco Mazza. Thanks Marco! read more

Came in to buy a new vacuum, and Marco suggested I first email him my old serial number - long story short he hunted down the purchase date, and provided me with $200+ of new parts under warranty and our old one is as good as new. fantastic service! I have been a customer of Marco for the past two/three years and every time I need something he deals with, he is my first and only stop. I appreciate that he is not pushy at all, he takes the time to understand one's needs and to find the best solution for such needs. He also explains the reasons for his suggestions in detail, offers you various solutions, but in the end, will sell you whatever you think it's best for you with a friendly smile and supporting your choice and with sound advice. He has always had an explanation and answer for the product-related doubts and problems I have had and I really think it's hard to ask for more than he provides when it comes to customer service. He offers thought-out advice and if you talk with him, is pretty clear he knows what he is talking about, which is something not that common to find. Living in a condo? I must say that the Miele S6 is the best vacuum for hardwood floors, area rugs, and bathroom carpets. Powerful, compact, and versatile. I walked into Vacuums Plus on Sunday. I did extensive online research on various Miele vacuums, but you never know until you see the models in real life. Marco, the owner, showed me various models and helped select one that is suitable for my needs, the S8 Contour. I had a million questions, and he took the time to answer all of them. I bought a Miele canister vacuum cleaner here several years ago, and phoned Marco when it developed a problem (hinge on cover broken so cover wouldn't close). I have never received such good service anywhere about anything! I walked to his Spadina store today on my lunch break hoping to get a good deal on a canister vacuum. Marco gave me great deal - giving me a price well below the sale prices of all the big box and online retailers (I did my research before going to his store). And then he paid for a taxi back to my work b/c the box was a bit bulky to carry! Who does that? And then while I was waiting for the cab, I witnessed another retail first. A man walked in looking to replace a handheld vac that he bought someplace else and that broke after 10 or 11 months of use. Instead of selling him a new vac, Marco suggested that he make a warranty claim to get a new machine. When the guy responded that he didn't have his receipt for the original purchase and so figured he was out of luck under the warranty, Marco told him he was still potentially eligible for a free replacement and asked the guy to bring in the machine so that he (Marco) could contact the manufacturer on his behalf. Who does this for a product purchased from a competitor? Crazy. Marco, I wish you every success with your business. You deserve it. read more

I very rarely write reviews, but I felt like I needed to add to all the wonderful reviews Vacuums Plus has been receiving. We actually went in large part because of the reviews the shop received. We went in with a specific vacuum in mind (Electrolux stick vacuum), but after speaking with Marco, he explained that the model we wanted wasn't ideal for our living space. While price was important, it was more important to us that we purchased a vacuum that worked for us and our current living situation (condo with mostly hardwood, but with a carpeted room and area rugs. Oh, and two cats!). We wanted something compact yet reliable and powerful, that would remain so over time. We've had too many vacuums in the past that have lasted maybe a year or two, and have lost suction. We tested out a couple of the models that he recommended, but ended up going with the Dyson. Marco explained the importance of maintaining the Dyson as instructed in the manual. We have done so, and it's always working like-new after each wash! We love the versatility of the vacuum and it's ability to not only pick up dirt off the ground but also our cat's fur off our furniture. We are very glad we went to Vacuums Plus. We had our search narrowed down to bag-less vacuum cleaners, mainly Dyson and Oreck. Mario asked about our home (mainly carpet with some wood and tile) and shared his knowledge without pressure. This caused us to look at and eventually choose the Sebo Felix. It uses bags, but Mario pointed out that on the bag-less models there are expensive filters that eventually need to be replaced. I don't like to review anything until I've used it long enough to know what's annoying. We've been using the Sebo for several months now and are completely satisfied with it, although I have to admit that I still don't much like vacuuming! To be useful, the most important thing a vacuum needs is suction. The Sebo has excellent suction and yet is relatively quiet. The low profile and L-shaped power brush fits under low chairs with closely spaced legs, and goes flat all the way under large, low coffee tables. Very handy. Cord storage is a simple large loop on two large hooks, one of which is part of the handle. It is easy to use, stores the cord with relatively few wraps, and has nothing to break or wear out. Simple is good. The pedal that releases the handle from its upright storage position is large, red, and easy to find and operate. When it is locked upright you know it. The Dysons we tried often fell down when you thought they were locked upright. A very nice feature of the Sebo is that when it's in the upright position, the power brush automatically stops. The hose and accessories are always there handy, so you simply lock it upright, pull the hose out of the power brush, attach any of the three accessories, and you're ready to clean baseboards, or behind toilets, or under sofa cushions. Sebo supplies two of the accessories, but Mario adds the third -- I think it is the articulated triangular dusting brush which is by far the best I've ever used. Mario also throws in four more bags for a total of eight. A separate head is supplied for bare floors, but for our kitchen and bathroom I simply turn the brush off and it does a good job without the effort of changing heads. In our smallish condo we appreciate that this vacuum conveniently stores in a rather small space. What don't I like -- only two things. One is that the very powerful motor is on the handle -- down near the floor, but still on the handle, so you are supporting some of its weight. The one thing I like about the Dyson is that all the motor weight is in the "ball", right on the floor. But there are disadvantages to that. The other negative thing is the heat. This vacuum has a lot of suction, but that means it significantly compresses the air on the outlet side -- it's the laws of physics. The Sebo cleverly exhausts the air through a fabric coating that covers the whole bag area, which allows it to be quite quiet in spite of its very large and effective motor. It also stops the exhaust air from blowing around the dust you're trying to pick up. However the price you pay is that the exhaust is up where you can feel the heat. Both those drawbacks are more than made up for by the capability of the machine, and its convenience. Mario, the owner of Vacuums Plus, is the kind of person I like to deal with. He sells by sharing his knowledge rather than manipulation and hard-selling. I think he doesn't care which product you buy as long as you'll be happy with it. He has lots of stock to demo and try. He delivered my purchase on Saturday morning at exactly the time he promised. A very satisfied customer. read more

Just over a year ago, I purchased the Electrolux Convection toaster oven as suggested by Marco....and I LOVE IT!! Unfortunately one of the elements wasn't working properly and I figured the warranty was up, so I would have to pay to get it fixed...I thought I would try calling to see if a new element could be ordered and the owner, Marco, without hesitation told me to bring it in and he would take care of it. In less then a week, I received a brand new oven! ! First, our old Air Vac unit stopped working, so I called Vacuums Plus Repair and talked to Dave. He came right over that day to look at my unit. Since the unit was so old we choose to replace it with a new unit instead of repairing it. Dave worked very quietly and quickly to replace the unit. It only took 30 minutes. Then we asked him about possibly getting central vacuum in our basement area. He quickly gave us a reasonable estimate and would call me that night to arrange a time to do the work. That night he called and we arranged for him to come on a Tuesday to do the work. Dave showed up on time on Tuesday and got right to work. He did an excellent job installing all the new inlets in the basement and one in our upstairs living room. They worked the whole day and checked all the new inlets before he left. Everything that was installed is working great and I would highly recommend Vacuums Plus repair to all my friends. read more
