I am so fortunate to have found Mark and his amazing team at V Fontana. My dad had passed and we were dealing with a very unresponsive cemetery who had not given us a proof for a headstone in 3 months, and was quoting us another 5-7 months to make the marker. Unfortunately since we were in contract we were in a bind. We had heard of temporary markers that could be placed while the larger headstone was being made.. enter Mark! I went to him with the slab, within a week they were able to turn around the proofs and engraving. Pricing was very reasonable and his team was so honest and efficient. Thank you so much for saving the day, Mark! read more

Stephanie and her compassion were magnificent from the beginning to the end. She was attentive to all our questions. Walking us through the many creative designs for the gravestones. Her family puppy and the office atmosphere brought a welcoming presence to something so foreign as procuring a gravestone. Cynthia was equally extraordinary. When we made the purchase with Stephanie using our credit card, we forgot if there were any credit card promotions going on. We opened a new credit card. Cynthia was exceptionally cordial; she canceled our original charge, billed the new purchase on our new credit card so we'd earn points from it and took care of the retraction fee for us. read more

We found everyone at V Fontana an absolute pleasure to work with for our memorial requests. The entire staff is very empathetic and professional. We had two very complicated situations and they helped us find the best solution for each one. The work was flawless and the price was very reasonable. We highly recommend V Fontana. read more

This was my first time in my life having to purchase a grave stone. I am totally agreed that Phi, is an extremely talented artist. In addition, Phi's professional experience and excellent service really makes difference. We know what we are getting when the time we work out from his office. I am sure my Mom's monument will be as perfect as what we expected with Phi's help. I will write to tell everybody after the job is completed. I can't wait to tell people who need the service should go to V. Fontana. You will not regret to get the last thing done for you loved one with such excellent people. We are referred to contact Phi for my Mom's monument. We went to meet Phi in his office for the appointment. We have no experience and have no idea what the layout will be looked like after transferred to the stone. Phi was working with us very patiently. Phi spent the time to modify the flower and explained the points that we need to pay attention to. Most important, he is very thoroughly. The horrible erroneous picture would never be found out without his help. We are really appreciated all of these. I am in a very difficult time after my Mom passed away. Not only from emotional stress also from the procedures what I should follow. Again, I am really appreciated the service from Phi. Many thanks. During the processing of my Mom's monument, there is technical difficulty from the other vendor who is part of the project. The ladies in the office are very patient, tried their best to help in order to overcome this problem. They are always work on our best interest including the owner, Mr. Fontana. We are so thankful for all these customer services and attitude. We feel big relieve after seeing the monument installed. It is elegant and presentable. It came out as what we have been told and expected. It shows our respects to my Mom. To have a good job done on my Mom's monument means a lot to us. I am sure they fully understand this and provide the excellent services that you cannot find online. We have to say thank you to all the staffs who helped us. read more

I just called to get an idea of cost for a headstone in comparison to ordering from the cemetery. The person I talked to was very abrupt and rude. He said, "we just don't quote prices on the phone." I clarified that since I haven't selected anything yet, I know they can't give me a specific price but I just wanted to know whether it was worth my time to go direct to a monument company vs. what the cemetery would charge. He was very rude and unwilling to answer the question to be helpful. So far, all the other companies I've talked to were more friendly and helpful. I would not go to Fontana after experiencing the lack of customer courtesy they have with a customer on the phone. Very rude and not friendly at all. Bad attitude and poor representation of the personnel at their company. read more

Fontana was very helpful and did a wonderful job on my mother's headstone. My mother was very particular, and I didn't see a design that seemed quite right for her in their standard selection. I was able to find a floral line drawing on the Internet that was perfect and which they reproduced beautifully. The design is a joy to contemplate when I visit the cemetery. read more

This family business is all about class, quality and service. I cannot say enough positive things about them. From the moment I walked in the front door, I was greeted with kindness and professionalism. They know what they are doing and they care about the quality of their work. They also want you to be happy with the end result, so they take the time to get to know you so they can help you come up with a unique and personal memorial. The service they offer is very different from the online vendors or other local businesses who are willing to sell you a stone but have nowhere near the customer service. I received an initial sample and quote within 24 hours of my first visit. I then met with the designer, Phil, who is an extremely talented artisan! This guy knows what he is doing and his attention to detail is phenomenal! I was amazed at the beautiful stones he creates! I never felt they were trying to sell me anything at all- they just wanted me to be happy with what I chose. I would recommend them to anyone needing their services without hesitation. I feel their prices are very reasonable and the end result is an amazingly classy and beautiful tribute to your loved one. read more

Excellent company and the stone they engraved for my son was stunning. I hope I never have to do this again but know where to go if I ever do. Thank you! read more

I first approached V. Fontana shortly after my brothers passing, they were closed at the time but their front area was open so you could browse grave markers after hours. We were there a good 10 minutes when the owner Mark noticed we were outside and let us in. We talked about how we would go about designing it and he was extremely helpful. Thankfully, we were able to process the entire transaction through emails. About a week later my husband designed the grave marker himself and I emailed it to V. Fontana on a Friday night. By Monday morning I already received their invoice in the mail and paid for it over the phone the next day. Within the week they emailed me the proof of how the actual grave marker would look and let me know it would be delivered to the cemetery in a couple weeks, right before Memorial Day weekend. I was shocked, I was always under the impression that it took 6-8 weeks for custom made grave markers! The day after the cemetery installed it, I drove all the way to the bay area to check it out. My first initial reaction was "WOW! That is sooo badass!" Then I was so overwhelmed by how great it looked that I just started crying out of no where because I knew that my brother would have approved. It turned out exactly the way my husband wanted, he was afraid they were only going to paint the logo white instead of carving it in and then painting it. and compared to all the ones in the cemetery, his really stands out! It turned out absolutely perfect, but I knew it would since V. Fontana has been around forever and they know what they're doing. read more

The staff here are patient, helpful, friendly and professional. My mom and I spent some time comparing different headstone companies. There are no comparison. Price is competitive but the service and their skills, exceptional!!! The front office, the staff was compassionate, helpful and made the experience rewarding. Phil spent time with my mom and I making my dad's headstone "perfect". My dad was an avid tennis player and photography was his life. Instead of the typical last name (English & Chinese) on the back we engraved a leica camera. The front bottom had small tennis racket and the other side a hasselblad camera. It had to be perfect as this is the last thing you can do for your loved ones. Phil did not hesitate to make changes as long as my mom was happy. He put her at ease and when the stone was done, our family went to see it the next day and our jaws dropped. It turned out way better than the proof. We were so happy with their work. They did such an amazing job!!! Thank you everyone for all your help. read more

It literally hasn't even been a full week since I stopped by to place the order on the cleaning and restoration of the headstone of a good friend of ours as a surprise. They told me it could take 4-6 weeks but they'll do their best to have it done by a certain date. Not ONLY did they complete the job, they kept in touch via email and sent a picture of the finished work and I am in total awe..The headstone is absolutely beautiful. I cannot say enough - if you want top quality work handled by the best staff in the industry with attention to detail, total professionalism and a lot of personal touch, go to V. Fonanta. Keep in mind that they don't do just headstones ..... Check their website or stop by to visit them. I guarantee you'll love them - I know I do. THANK YOU, to Mark, Stephanie and the wonderful staff at Fontana's - YOU ALL ROCK!!!!!! read more

I can't recommend this place highly enough. First of all, its location is ideal for someone who doesn't drive because they are adjacent to the Colma Bart Station. Secondly, Cynthia was so professional and courteous and welcoming to me especially since this was my last thing I had to do for my mom who had passed away 3 weeks ago. Cynthia was very patient and showed me the different markers available (they have a viewing area outside the office of the different headstones and monument markers) and the wide assortment of designs for the monument. I already had in mine what I wanted but she made it so much easier to finalize the selection. In addition, their fees were very reasonable which for me was a plus since I was on a tight budget. I wanted a marker in time for her birthday in June and a week later I received a proof from the designer, which was exactly how I wanted it to look and on top of that, they were going to be able to have it at Holy Cross in time for her birthday in early June. I was extremely pleased with the services provided by Cynthia and everyone at V Fontana. read more

After my dad's passing my mother, sisters and I went looking for the headstone. Not something you want to do when your heart is broken, just another thing that makes it all seem real. We had checked out a few places on the way to V. Fontana & Co. to get an idea of what was out there since we knew somewhat what we wanted but didn't know if it existed. After viewing their outside display we walked in and were greeted by Theresa Fontana. She was very sweet, helpful and knowledgeable. We ran some ideas by her and she immediately knew what we were looking for and what books to show us and offered suggestions. She let us know that everything can be changed around on the template and we could add more or remove anything we didn't like. My mom wanted to add a small picture of their St. Bernard on the stone to go along with the scene we had chosen and just at that time Theresa's father, Mark, was passing by and said "sure we can do it, anything you want" that's all we needed to hear and we began to get creative. After a preliminary drawing and emails, and a few trips up there to speak with the designer Phil with additional items we wanted on the stone it was finally OK'd by my mother on 11/15/12 with the "good to go". We thought it would take weeks to finish and get place at the cemetery BUT...within a week it was in its final resting place. We viewed it on Thanksgiving Day. There wasn't a dry eye to be found. It was a labor of love with all of us adding a little bit to it and Fontana & Co. perfecting it. We cannot thank you enough! My dad would have loved it. Carolyn, Wee, Sandy and Karen read more

I was very young and inexperienced with customer service when my father passed away many years ago and I used V Fontana to do my father's headstone. Now as a much older person I found myself needing services to add my mom's name to my dad's headstone, so I naturally went to the same place that did my father's headstone. But as an adult, I realized their incredible customer service and compassion. The daughter of the owner (Stephanie) took incredible care of me. I loved the fact that it was a family business. When you are sad and dealing with the death of a family member, what better way to go, than with another family looking out for you. I called them about my need to add my mom's name to my father's headstone and I kid you not, within just a few hours of me calling, Stephanie and her father had already gone to the cemetery to look at the headstone to see what they could do. I had a very respectable quote in no time. But the best part is, they keep you in the loop. I no longer live close to the cemetery so I have no idea as to what is going on. But this family kept me in the loop and took pictures of the finished work. Please choose V Fontana Co. They really care about the work they do and it shows. The headstone and clean up they did, even to my father's name on the headstone after over 20 years prior was incredible. In a world where it feels like everything is too impersonal, you get not just a personal touch, but also class and family with V Fontana. read more
