Hummus
Sanjay G.

it was my birthday dinner and we wanted to have Mediterranean food. we always try new joints (especially those owned by locals). we live nearby and we saw this restaurant whenever we cross Boonton main street. So it was tough finding when we reached there and then we got to know its been moved but same street (like 200-300 feet far) anyway, we reached. it was Thursday evening, the restaurant was almost empty, only 2 tables were occupied. the server came and we placed our order Hummus with pita bread - it was amazing, I would definitely recommend any sort of hummus from their menu, but do try. - 4.5/5 Lamb chops - I asked for well done, but when it came I can say with full confidence, that it was medium rare. I asked the chef, and tell them it was not well done, but as per them, it's Uzbekistani way, and in their cooking style, it's well done. they did mention every spice and all - but I was not satisfied. though I could have asked for a replacement, but I don't believe in wasting food. there was 4 piece that comes with sides. I chose marinated onion and brown rice. after finishing 3 pieces, 4th piece was hard to chew. - 2.5/5 Chicken Kufta Kebab (spicy)- glad my wife enjoyed her meal. The only spice item was this kebab and by my standard it was mild. no worries, it was good, 2 big skewers filled with chicken kebab with fries and brown rice. it was soft-juicy and amazing. 4.5/5 except for the kebab, the meal was great, ambiance (as you can see from my pics) - was soothing and good. yeah, I can recommend this. I would definitely try their local cuisine next time.

Manti, dumplings with lamb, $19
Chris L.

This is basically two restaurants in one, serving both Mediterranean and Persian specialties. If you prefer hummus and kebabs, you have plenty of choices. If you prefer Uzbek-style plov and dumplings, they're fantastic. BYO beer and wine! A plov (known elsewhere as polo or polow) is fragrant rice with vegetables and spices, usually paired with slow-cooked meat like a lamb shank, absolutely delicious. We also tried the manti, a huge plate of fat dumplings stuffed with ground lamb in a bit of sauce. Tremendously fair prices, at dinner appetizers were under $10 and entrees about $18-24. The dining room was quiet, easy to hear each other talk, no background music or TVs. Service was friendly but slow. For dessert there's baklava and Turkish coffee. Vegetarians welcome, there are many good choices like the herb and spinach dumplings served in sour cream & tomato sauce (called "aashak"). Unfortunately I have to confirm some rumors about the bathroom, only one was working and it was kinda gross.

Food was good, service was pleasant, if not efficient. BYOB. Be prepared to wait for your food, but overall a nice night out.

Great food. Reasonable Prices. Service needs a little bit of improvement…read more Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. Happened to be on Wednesday night. Place wasn't packed but there were some customers there. So the restaurant is not much for decor IMHO but has excellent food. Even on Wednesday night. Chuchvara, Lagman, Shurpa, Achik-Chuchuk, Various Kebabs, Beef Tongue, and most importantly Cheburek. The only dish that can go wrong like a puffer fish. Underdo it and it's inedible, overdo it the same, wrong oil or too much oil and your customers will run screaming for the hills. This was actually done so well we went for seconds, light and crispy on the outside and nice and juicy inside. I'm drooling just writing about it.... A great place to visit, service on the slow night could've been a little better but I can't really complain.

The food was so authentic and flavorful- we had lamb, beef and chicken mixed with all the dishes you might expect from potatoes eggs and vegetables. While the restaurant is located in a strip mall, you'd never know it. The ceiling is covered in cloth coverings that you know are authentic. The dance floor is so inviting-we spent the night between dancing and eating. The servers were fantastic. We look forward to our next visit

Imagine our surprise, that while in town for business, and with time to kill before an art exhibition, we discovered an Uzbeki restaurant. Immediately upon entering, we were greeted and led to a large comfortable booth in the back of the restaurant. The lighting was warm, the walls were adorned with beautiful rugs, and the customers' spirits were high. Each table had been pre-set with the resutarant's lovely plates and crystal drinkware. Given that this was our first time at an Uzbeki eatery, we asked our server for some suggestions. Upon doing so, she then asked us if we prefer meat or fish. After perusing the menu a bit more and taking her suggestions into consideration, we had decided to order a wide array of sorts, opting for the pickled herring and potato appetizer, some Tandoori Samsas, a bowl of the Kharcho soup, and an order of the Guyru Dumplings. Our dishes were brought out promptly and our server made sure to check on us periodically throughout our meal, at one point even offering to allow the kitchen to split some of our dishes up for us to make it easier to share with one another. The pallet of flavors we were presented with was colored and wonderful; the pickled hairing playing a perfect duet with the hearty roasted potatoes, pairing well balanced acidity and perfectly crisp potatoey goodness, the kharcho simultaneously lightly spicy and fully refershing with that dill coming throough alongside juiicy chunks of lamb, and the the delectable dumplings, swimming in a flavorful bath of broth and sour cream. As we were nearing fullness, we realized we had forgotten to add one more piece to this meal...the dessert! After this realization, we decided to share a piece of wonderfully sticky Phaklava, adorned with and generously filled with walnuts and golden raisans. Suzani Restaurant is not to be missed. It is a dining experience that makes me feel like you've been invited into someone's home, but also that you are sitting down for a royal banquet. Be sure to check it out if you ever find yourself in the area. 5/5 stars

I got two meals out of mine. I got the gyro platter and it probably was one of the tastiest meals I've had in a long time. I thought the chicken was seasoned and flavorful. But by far, the best part was the white sauce. I would pair it with the mango lassi and it was such a great explosion of flavors - both savory and sweet. I will say they ask whether you're okay with onions and raisins in your platter. I liked them but I know raisins might not be what most people prefer to add to their rice. Service was fast. You can either order at the front table or at your seat. They got the food in a reasonable amount of time. The place looks small from the outside, but when you walk in, there's a back room worth of 30 people worth of seating. It's extremely cozy inside. There's also a parking lot right next to the restaurant and also across the street. The lot right next door is kinda small though, so you might need to loop around. Parking shouldn't be a problem and you can get a really good stop if you're lucky.
