Tucked in the Mitcham shopping centre you will find this little cafe, right near the best newsagent…read morethis side of town (I base this on the fact they sell nfl mags and sports cards lol) and just across from foodland I've never eaten at 53 but I've never had a bad coffee, the young staff are always friendly and welcoming and the cage itself is set out really nicely. I love the fact that they have a little water station so you can help yourself to some h2o and I also love the fact they always have lots of mags and newspapers to read over while you try and block out the fact you are food shopping (one of my most hated things) Of you are more tech minded or just don't like talking to humans they also have free wifi which is really handy for trolling Facebook etc. Just ask for the password. Sure it's not like getting a coffee at the trendy places around the city but in terms of shopping centres you can't really go wrong for a quick put stop.

Okay...first things first...the coffee is FANTASTIC. Smooth and delicious, I drank it down so fast…read moreI wanted a second one! That's pretty much the best thing I have to say about Fifty3, as my experience here was not as good as I was hoping. You order at the counter and then it's brought to your table (or bench) which is great - but when the waitress brought the coffee she took our table number with her - I had to call her back to tell her we also had food coming on the same number. She acted as though it was my fault she took it in the first place! Strange. Then, they brought out the first meal (Chic n' Cheese Omelette) and went to take the number yet again! I said we still had another meal supposed to be coming...the waitress seemed to have no idea. We told her the dish (Specialty McFifty3 Muffin) and she said she would go and check the order. No apologies. We definitely paid for two meals! Anyway, they HAD forgotten it and went off to make a rushed version of the dish which was no where near as delicious and fancy as they made it sound on the menu. I give this place 3/5, as the coffee is fantastic, the omelette was fairly tasty and maybe the waitress was just having a bad day. It has left me with a sour taste in my mouth however, but I most likely would still return for their coffee. Fifty3 has potential to be a great, quirky cafe in the heart of a shopping centre, but I think some of the staff need to remember the basics of customer service! There is one guy who I think might be the owner and he is so friendly though - he even knew how to spell my difficult name! Maybe pick a quieter day than Saturday to try it out, and you should get better service than we did.

Dear Daisy, I'm…read morewriting this review to you today to let you know that I very much appreciated your hospitality today over lunch. You are so lucky to be set in such a beautiful little neighbourhood, so close to the industrial train lines but tucked away amongst all those cute Goodwood cottages. The cute embroidered chair cushions and large wooden tables was a nice detail you added to my lunch experience. Although your prices are a little bit more than your standard cafe, the choice you provided was great for lunch. And you must have known I'm a fan of an all day brunch too. My coffee was smooth and lunch of citrus smashed avo on rye with smoked salmon and fetta was fresh and zingy. My dining partner's pulled pork bun with potato salad looked lovely too. Thank you for friendly and speedy service. I look forward to catching up again soon. Best wishes, Chloe

Imagine the excitement coursing through my veins when a brand spanking new cafe (with all the…read morehipster/trendy trimmings) opens up 5 doors down from my house, and dearest Daisy, you passed my expectations for a local with flying colours. Dear Daisy occupies the space left by the Leah St Deli and is right on the tram line next to the Forestville tram stop next to the hairdressers. I've popped in and out of here a number of times for coffee and have been most satisfied with smooth flat whites and spicy long blacks and am always pleased with the sparkly service and cheery staff. The menu here is catered to the breakfast/brunch crew (all day breakfast, huzzah!) but Dear Daisy is developing a great lunch menu. The selection features all your standards for brekkie and lunch has a mix of wraps and rolls as well as some great specials (pulled pork buns, zucchini fritters anyone?) and over the past week since its opened I've seen the menu change and evolve. Lunching here I had a pulled pork bun with coleslaw with potato salad on the side, the pork was soft and tender and the potato salad had pickles (yay!) with yumminess all round. Pricing is quite reasonable and on the cheap side for the Goodwood area. Really looking forward to getting round to breakfast here and with 7am opening on the weekdays, I'm thinking a post night duty pick me up breakfast treat is in order!

Café Buongiorno on Belair Road at Hawthorn is just a little hit and miss for me. Having said that,…read morethey are always busy and there's always a crowd here. The coffee is good and the pasta and pizza are both tasty, in fact there's absolutely nothing wrong with the food here. I guess my number one criticism is that I find the staff more than a little cold and there's really not much of a welcoming atmosphere. I don't think I've ever received a welcoming smile or a kind word from any of their staff. In fact I have had a giggle on the odd occasion at the particularly grumpy waiting staff who come to collect your dishes after the meal. It really is such a shame because Buongiorno is in a good spot. There's always plenty of seating on offer and their alfresco area is enjoyable on a summer's evening. It's easy to get a park and its handy if you come out of a movie session at the cinema across the road and want to grab a bite or a coffee. If someone from Café Buongiorno is reading this - I don't need you to fall at my feet but please give me a smile and a kind word when I'm spending my hard earned dollars at your establishment.

The famous Buongiorno Breakfast Plate at $13.90 has a generous servings of bacons, sausage, eggs, mushroom and toast. I go here often for the lunch. The pasta's are good and you can choose a penne, ravioli, gnocchi, ravioli and there's even gluten free penne. Prices range from $13.90 to $17.90 and they are generous servings. Pair your pasta with a Moscato or a Merlot, the choice is yours as they have a good wine list. Pizza lovers would love their wide variety of pizza goodness. Tuck into a Pollo, Romana or a Greco..you would think for a minute that these names should belong to a hot Italian with soft black curls or perhaps they should hire waiters with that name. Ah, if only! Expect to pay $11.90 to $22.90 for a pizza depending on the pan size. Bring your kids here, as kids eat for $10.90 with a choice of bolognese, fish and chips, nuggets, salt and pepper squid and little ham pizzas. Kids menu include a soft drink and a scoop of ice cream. And all the kids say "hurray!" All in all, this is a perfect venue that ticks all the boxes. They have an alfresco area for those who enjoy a bit of sunshine or want a puff or two. Ensure you leave space for desserts, as they make some awesome cheesecake and chocolate mud cake here.

It's located in the south eastern corner of the Mitcham Shopping Centre, directly under the Wallis Cinemas. It has a modern fit out in blue tones and floor to ceiling glass panels curve the corner of the cafe (see photo) allowing natural light to flood the space. The menu is extensive - a large, double-sided laminated sheet offers pastas, risottos, pizza, a good range of salads and plenty of sweet treats for after your meal. You order your food and drink at the counter and meals are delivered to your table. The service is fairly prompt, but I've got the impression the young staff can't wait for their shift to finish. Coffee is good and I sometimes grab a takeaway from here if Mooi's (cafe in the middle of the Mitcham Shopping Centre) is closed. (Soy milk is Vitasoy Cafe) They also do a movie meal deal which is well priced.

Actually, I was on the bus at the time, and normally wouldn't have gone down this route, so I guess it was fortuitous that I couldn't have the car that day. Not only was the tea quite nice, but I found the service to be very good as well. Certainly worth spending some time here chatting.

The decor is clean, light and modern - a wooden bar with fresh newspapers, mini jars holding sugar and a range of cakes and light meals to satisfy a morning tea, lunch or arvo craving. My latte was not the best I've had in Adelaide, but still worth a mention. The banana bread I had however - delicious. Thick cut, homemade, toasted - what more could you ask for? How about wonderfully moist (shudder at that word) and yet light at the same time? You got it. Can I have the recipe please!? Overall the service was nice, just one guy was manning the cafe but that's all it needs on a quiet Wednesday afternoon. I hope to see them expand into breakfasts maybe! P.S. You can also buy your 2L bottle of non-homogenised Tweedvale milk here to take home for $4.50! Yay!
