When my fellow Yelpist, Bridie W, suggested Nature's Providore as a likely lunch spot and gave me directions, I thought, "that must be close to where that Doof Doof place is". A quick check of Yelp revealed it was indeed once the very same. I'd only been once but it had the distinction of furnishing me with the best cup of coffee I've ever had. So much so, I smashed it and instantly ordered another, spending the rest of the day in a caffeine-fuelled twitchathon. Good times.
Anyway, that aside, I rolled in with toddler in tow and was directed into the dining area through the retail shop front selling all manner of seasonal organic produce and health stuff. A high chair was ready and waiting however it was quickly discovered we needed to take care of some urgent business and I asked for directions to the toilet. Unfortunately, that rustic vintage charm extended to the singular outside dunny with no facility to perform a nappy changing exercise. Oh well, that's why you carry a change mat in the nappy bag. At least the floor wasn't muddy.
That taken care of, we returned to select the special, avocado on rye toast with all manner of seedy things atop it ($15.90) and some fruit toast for the newly clean and fragrant toddler. The avo was ripe and heightened by the lemon provided and the fruit toast was like hot cross bun in bread form, even if the toddler did seem to prefer chunks of raw lemon. We stuck with water but the selection of juices looked appetising and if I'm in the vicinity again, I will be trying the apple, lemon and ginger as a matter of priority.
Nature certainly provides (and sometimes calls) here at Nature's Providore. read more
