I hired Utsav Events for event decoration of my wedding, and there were critical misses for customer service and quality of service. Months before the event, communication was lacking from the company's side. Instead of the customer asking what is in your inventory, why is it not possible to share prepared albums, catalogs, etc. of what can be done with your items? When asked for photos of items to be used in decorations, it was not sent. After agreeing on certain items, flower colors, backdrop colors, the end product was different. Also, it was hard to get answers to questions. When we decide on things verbally, if it is not written down, it is forgotten and not actually included. No blueprint or mock-ups were shared, no professional vision or guidance, or sending a form to client to get their input on small decisions? There was general confusion on what we wanted, and what was available. Insurance papers to the venue were late, causing additional stress. There is no point in paying 5 figures, if the customer has to do so much thinking of details, and have to micro-manage. All that said, on the day of, the end decorations were good, although not exactly what we asked. I'd be willing to forgo this, but then the mandap fell down and endangered the lives of family. Could have been fatal. Why did it fall down? There was no natural disaster (earthquake, hurricane, tornado). A gust of wind caused a 4 pillar structure to tumble down. There were cone-like decorations on the mandap that also kept falling. Something like wind should be anticipated for, especially since the date, weather patterns, location were known for a long time. And assuming the response to this will be, "we can't predict strong gusty winds", fine. But why was there no one from the company there to help take the pillars off me and my wife's heads? Is a text apology all we deserve? Is this our fault that the 1 day that matters most in a couple's lives is spoiled because you think there is nothing you could have done better? Mistakes happen, and I am okay with that, but what you do after to rectify shows professionalism and common courtesy. Unfortunately, nothing happened except they ignored my calls to talk about this fiasco and a small text apology. So I guess Utsav Events feels like mandap falling on its clients is normal and part of their contract, nothing to rectify there. I can not, in, good conscience, recommend this company to anyone for anything related to event decoration or coordination. Stay clear. read more

I was very disappointed with this service. I was in communication and sent pictures of what my vision was. I was simple and easy going and flexible and I feel I was taken advantage of. For the money I spent the mandap was done very cheap looking. I had a huge gazebo and wanted the dome to be draped to utilize the space and make it open and airy. I get a phone call in the morning as I am getting ready for the wedding that they dont have enough time to decorate and will not be able to design as we discussed. It was his job to coordinate with the venue but he was upset he showed up at 10am and the wedding was 4pm and allowed him to come 2 hours early. When I questioned the event manager she said she would allow him to come in at 10am but since she wasn't expecting him, the front security asked him to contact the office to get approval first and instead of coordinating with the office, took it as a no and left. When i talked to manager she said she was waiting for phone call but he never called. On top of the stress of knowing that my wedding ceremony was not going to be decorated as I had hoped, it was underwhelming and still charged me the full amount! We met them a couple of times, looked through their catalog and previous set-up samples, and picked what we wanted for our wedding. We also wanted some items they didn't have in stock. They were very accommodating and got us everything we wanted. We also found ourselves in need of speakers and music during the Baraat and they were able to provide that on very short notice. The main element was the Mask which Sandeep did an excellent job to research and order and my backdrop was just perfect with my selected colors just they way I wanted it. Delayed review, but when I found that this vendor was on Yelp, I could not resist to review them. I came across this vendor thru word of mouth during planning my wedding 2 years back. I was beginning to get frustrated with all the planning and pricing that came along. It was hard to find vendors that provided quality work and reasonable pricing. After contacting this vendor, my grandma and I went over to their warehouse when they had albums and loads of wedding related decor items. We were greeted by the owner and his wife, both seemed like very sweet people. After talking to them for an hour we arranged to have them come over to our house the following week to discuss further about the wedding event, what I was looking for and etc. The owner, Mr. Pradip assured me that he will be giving me my dream wedding and that everything will go exactly as I want. The following week we began discussing wedding details and my family and I were so won over by this charming man and his convincing will of providing us with the dream wedding that we decided to use them for all 3 of my wedding events (Holud, Mehndi and Wedding). We came to an agreement in regards to all the events and pricing. Also, Mr. Pradip told us that we would primarily be working with his son, Sandeep who will assist us with all the needs going forward. As days went by, we began to become more and more disappointed with their service ethics. For example, not answering their phone when we called, always arriving 2-3hours late on appointments, always having excuses, trying to provide us with alternative cheaper materials than what was agreed on etc. At this point I was so frustrated that I would have canceled using their service if I could, however my parents being who they are felt that it's wrong since they have given them their word already. Finally the time came for our first event, The Holud (Traditional Bengali Turmeric Ceremony). We rented out a banquet hall in an Indian Restaurant for this event and bought Ustav as the outside vendors to decorate the place. Let me make this sweet and short by saying that it was one of the worst decorations I had ever seen in my life! WOW! Seriously? We paid these people to put a couple of ugly colored clothing on the ceiling of the restaurant? If it wasn't my wedding, I would have been able to do a better job. I was beyond disappointed. Oh, and did I mention that they arrived to the venue almost 4-5hrs late? The last thing a girl needs during her wedding week is added stress by a vendor her family is paying to provide the best wedding ever. The second event, Mehndi Night (Henna Party). Again, late arrival. Excuse? Oh, there was traffic. They didn't do much for this event. Only thing they did was set up Christmas Lights all over the front of the house to make it look festive and provide us with the traditional wedding atmosphere. Though I must say that they used pretty good technology to have the whole front house lighted up with their LED system and changing laser beams. It was pretty cool. Perhaps the only thing I liked out of all the events. The final event, Wedding! Late, Late and late again. We were lucky that we were able to manage such a beautiful wedding hall in such short notice. My wedding was planned in less than 5months so you can imagine! The banquet hall was already beautiful and came with everything including the centerpieces, so the only request I had from the vendor, was to decorate the stage a bit. What I originally wanted was a stage covered with flowers, however that did not happen (the two flower bouquets you see on each side was purchased by me separately from Downtown LA and did not come with this vendor, only the two column stands did). The only thing the vendor did for this stage was cover the back walls with drapes and provide us with the sofa for the bride and groom (Mind you, this was not the sofa I requested). These people were just unbelievable! I could not believe how deceiving some people can be. They lured us into using them with their smooth techniques, and provided us with everything opposite of what was promised. I really hate giving bad reviews to businesses, but trust me I would give them negative stars if I could. I high recommend you trying to find another vendor before considering to use Utsav. Instead of providing you with your dream wedding, they will provide you with nothing but stress and nightmare!! read more

We hired Utsav Events for our Baby Shower Dec 2021 and were very happy with the result! We had a baby Ganesh/carnival theme and Sandeep followed our vision to the "T". I was especially impressed because he and his team worked late in the night when we wanted to add a few last minute changes to the tent. Always with a smile on his face and very helpful! Pradip Bhai is so intuitive about what may pop up at an event, he covers all the bases. Everyone who attended the shower had nothing but praise for the setup, decore and layout. Utsav Events is a full service company that provides everything you'll need for your event! We hired Pradeep for our wedding and it was a decision we regretted. He changed our caterers without telling us and pocketed the difference. Even after we proved this by confirming it with the restaurants, he denied it and started yelling at us. Needless to say our guests were not satisfied with the food. He also overcharged us with many other things after giving us a lower quote in the beginning. This man is a sweet talker when you first meet him but is absolutely dishonest and will rip you off. Not only did he show up 45 minutes to the appointment (claiming traffic, like he did for these other reviewers) but didn't bother to call or text when he was running late. After he arrived at the storage center he didn't have the key for his unit. He spent another 15-20 minutes calling the manager for his key, and when he couldn't get it he asked us to reschedule.... I'm so glad we were able to witness this kind of behavior BEFORE seriously considering to book with Utsav. Sandeep was extremely unreliable, lacked punctuality, and very difficult to get ahold of to even schedule an initial appointment. If he is that bad when he is trying to win your business, just imagine how he'll be once you've already paid him thousands of dollars. Save your time, money, and energy and go with someone else. There are plenty of other more reliable vendors in SoCal, don't ruin your big day by going with Sandeep and Utsav. read more

Luckyly we found Utsav Events by reference from my friend.He was having very good experience with this organizer so I decided to go with this. To my surprise my decision turned out to be perfect. The owner of the company Pradipbhai was taking it very personal and organized it very well. It was very much successful and all my relatives and guest were very much impressed with the Decorations, food and with all the details with which it was organized. THESE ARE THE WORST DECORATORS EVER! If I could give them -100 stars I would! On the day of my wedding, THEY SHOWED UP HOURS LATE and didn't have time to get the decorations we had agreed upon done. We had an outdoor wedding and had agreed with and paid Utsav Events to put up a canopy to shield our guests from the sun. THEY NEVER PUT UP THE CANOPY and all our guests got sun burned. Additionally, we made the mistake of having Utsav Events provide us with our mandap. Not only did they give us a mandap that was different than the style we had agreed upon, but it also COLLAPSED on us after our ceremony was done. I just thank god our ceremony was done before all the wood fell down otherwise I don't know what would have happened. When we talked to Utsav about the falling mandap, they said that there was an abnormal amount of wind. Um...first of all, there was hardly any wind. And second, should wind knock over a mandap? I hope not. To top it off, we had to pay extra money to another vendor to provide us with the decorations that Utsav told us they ordered on our behalf but didn't. We spent 100s of extra dollars at our reception to cover up Utsav's mistakes. Utsav Events is an absolutely horrible vendor. Please DO NOT USE UTSAV EVENTS! All three of the owners (Pinky, Sandeep, and their father) CANNOT BE TRUSTED! --------- 8/2/2013 This is in response to the link/pictures that Utsav Events has shown from my wedding. Preliminary thoughts: I personally would not hire a decorator for the most important day of my life that has to defend himself. There are plenty of other competent vendors out there, I would use one that does not have to post a link to defend itself. But that is just my opinion, here are some facts... 1. Please see the pictures I have now attached to Yelp of the fallen Mandap at my wedding 2. The reason the pictures do not show people running around at the last minute to get things set up is because: 1. we started the wedding 45 minutes late on account of Utsav Events not being ready on time. 2. most of our decorations at the wedding site (apart from the mandap and the canopy we were supposed to have) were not provided by Utsav. The chairs are from the hotel. The flowers are from the florist. The ribbon on the chairs was done by our wedding coordinator. The screens are from another vendor. 3. Weather: Utsav has provided you the weather pattern for July 3, 2010, however, my wedding was on July 3, 2011 (one year after the weather patterns provided by Utsav). 4. Other Pictures from Event: All the pictures with the orange tone are of my Sangeet. I agree that on that day, Utsav did a good job. However, please do know that the flowers and the laterns you see were provided by other vendors. Our problems with Utsav were at the wedding and reception (the blue pictures shown are of my reception). I have already attached a picture of the fallen mandap which I think is enough said for the wedding. As for the reception, most of the decorations you see in those pictures were not actually provided by Utsav (they were supposed to be, but Utsav did not deliver). The blue table clothes were supposed to be supplied by Utsav but they did not bring them and so my DJ (who also does event coordination) pulled some strings at the last minute and got them for us. The white sofa you see was also something we had to rent at the last minute because Utsav didn't bring anything for us to sit on (as agreed upon in our contract). The lighting was provided by a different vendor. The menu cards were provided by a different vendor. The silver chivari chairs were provided by a different vendor. The floral arrangements were provided by a different vendor. Basically, our reception was beautiful but it cost us a lot of money at the last minute because we had to scramble to get the decorations. 5. All the other personal attacks I will not comment on. Yelp is about reviewing a service so I just want Yelpers to know the details of the event so they can choose a decorator wisely. read more

Just wanted to give a special thank you to Pradip Dalal and his son for making our wedding weekend such a memorable and beautiful event for us. We had a guest list of about 380 people and three different events. Each event was decorated just as we envisioned and the best part was my husband and I didn't have to worry about utsav at all. I learned of Utsav events online and from my first interaction with Mr. Dalal I was extremely impressed. He was the most punctual and responsible vendor. He was extremely prompt in his responses and making sure I was happy with everything! We were planning our California wedding from chicago and it was great to have a vendor with with us and make sure they made themselves available whenever I was in town. They ensured that all decor was done on time and just the way I wanted it. This truly is a passion project for Mr. Dalal and that comes through in his work. Not only was their service wonderful they are also very reasonably priced. I got married in 2010. Unfortunately this company was the only choice we had as they were part of a contract packaged with the venue. In brief: They didn't set up the Mandap until an hour before the ceremony was to start, and our reception decorations were virtually non-existent. They were using my caterers help to try and get the table pieces presentable. We had many meetings with them prior to make sure everything would go smoothly. They overpromised and delivered nothing. My sister in law left a review but she removed it as this company had threatened to sue her for libel. Save yourself heartache and stay away. read more
