Good coffee, staff more concerned about ignoring the line.... I was a little shocked at the sign advising customers to not approach the counter until summoned. There were 5-6 people behind the counter, all loudly gossiping with each other, but only 2 seemed to be making a drink. As the line grew behind me, there was no attempt to help anyone. When it was finally my turn, the first eye contact was when the screen with tip choices was pivoted to me. Its a shame, as the brewed Columbian coffee I bought was good even though it was not fleshed brewed and sat in a pump thermos. I hope the owner understands how lucky they are that people seek out their business thats on a one way street...but if rude staff makes you feel ignored and like an outsider, Starbucks is much easier to find and be ignored at. read more

Got a Red Bull infusion had no carbonation asked politely if they can remake it and all they did was cause a big seen and tried making me look bad in front of the customers, they were saying how there's nothing wrong with it and how I don't know what I'm talking about , I had a Red Bull infusion before and it did have some carbonation to it so I knew what I'm talking about , they kept yelling that they will just refund me but I didn't need a refund I just needed my drink to taste like it usually would. This particular shop is inside Utica University Nexus Center. Nice cafe with great drink options. Coffee tasted great. I love the "Wake the hell up" motto! So catchy, sassy and refreshing. Staff is very friendly and personable. Food options looked good but I only wanted coffee. There's a little gift area to purchase coffee to make at home. My friend who lives here loves this coffee shop so I had to stop by and check them out. This did not disappoint. I got one of their seasonal specials, Matcha Dubai Latte. One of the most unique flavors I've ever had and loved every sip, although it was a bit cold to be drinking an iced latte at the time. No regrets! read more

Good coffee, nice location, and plenty of other great options as well. There are various coffee styles and flavors to choose from. The breakfast sandwich I had was pretty standard and easy to find elsewhere, but pretty good nonetheless. What I really appreciated, however, was the ease of getting in and out quickly. The convenient location and ample parking on a very low traffic side-street make it perfect for grabbing something on the go and getting back on the road in no time. I was in the area for work during October 2020 and January 2021. Both times I bought the French Vanilla coffee bags to bring home *heart emoji* and the taste and smell is so nice. I hope to go back soon to buy my third coffee bag. I like supporting local shops in the area and this one 100% does it for me. They're interactive with the community and that's a plus for me! During a family day trip visit from Cooperstown, my wife, two teenage sons (15 yrs, 13 yrs) and I stopped by Utica Coffee Roasting for a quick rest room break and coffee. We planned to visit the MWPAI (art institute) in Utica for lunch. However, I desperately needed a cup of coffee after a peaceful but sleep-inducing 60 minute drive along rural highways. Utica Coffee Roasting had wonderful cappuccinos. It has some outdoor seating and is located in a part of downtown that has been renovated. But it's more convenient as a "grab-n-go" location. To be honest, the city of Utica does not have immediate curb appeal because of its manufacturing history and industrial heritage. But if you're driving along the NY State Thruway (I-90) between Syracuse and Albany, it's worth a pit stop to Utica Coffee Roasting for a caffeine boost. If you have a little extra time, I would recommend driving over and buying a box of half-moon (black and white) cookies from Hemstrought Bakery or any local bakery to enjoy with your coffee! read more

After nearly ten hours of driving, I was in desperate need of coffee and a bagel. Utica coffee provided just that and more. Expansive menu of baked goods and pastries with a choice of bacon or sausage breakfast sandwiches on bagel or ciabatta. Fall speciality coffee menu was to die for. Update: You guys. I just met my new BFF Cori. She and her husband bought a farm during Covid, but she's a people-person & needed to get back to work, and her former boss brought her back on at Utica Coffee Roasting. That's one of the things I learned on our first friend date. By "friend date," I mean she is the amazing barista who served me this morning and chatted with me as she made my drink. I ordered my usual - an iced breve latte. This time I asked for some honey in it, though. Cor (we are BFFs now, so I can call her that) asked if I had ever tried the lavender with the honey. Hold. The Front Door. LAVENDER? She added some of that floral deliciousness to my honey and Shazam!! It's so good! I also ordered up a pound of beans to go, but then C (we truly are besties, so she doesn't mind that I call her that) told me I could save a buck if I went with two pounds. I'm pretty sure that's a deal anyone can get even if they are not best buds with the best barista in Utica. I've said before that I love this place & always leave feeling like I've just made a friend. That's still the case. So WAKE THE HELL UP & go to Utica Coffee. While I've tried some of their beans and blends I wasn't super impressed with my visit. Their coffee is good, but as I was visiting on a very hot summer afternoon I wanted something that I might find at a national brand coffee house that rhymes with Far-Ducks (I think you know who I mean). What I had was ok, but nothing more. The staff was friendly and helpful. The vibe and decor feels busy, almost distracting. Utica Coffee continues to be my favorite coffee of all time. Even though I no longer live in Utica I come here as much as I can when I am home to visit, and I order coffee to keep my pantry stocked from their website. This location is just the perfect coffee house. They have a nice outdoor seating area and plenty of tables/couches inside. The decor is eclectic and welcoming. I do believe it is dog friendly as their was one here on my most recent visit. The staff is prompt and helpful with recommendations if you are looking for them. They offer a nice array of baked goods including some from Utica bread. I love the croissants (utica bread) and scones which they bake on site. I tend to like their flavored coffees such as Cannoli, Blueberry, Pistachio, Apple Pie, Irish cream, Chocolate Raspberry, Bourbon Barrel, and so many more. They are always coming up with new unique flavors. If you choose to buy some of their merchandise it is very high quality. Their stainless steel coffee cup is my favorite to use at home. They are now offering CBD oil added to your coffee for a small fee or you can buy it separately which is nice due to all its health benefits. read more

We stopped here for a little pick-me-up on the way back home from visiting my SO's parents. I ordered a cappuccino and he ordered a cold brew, and we picked up a pound of whole bean "Brazil" coffee to bring home. The cappuccino was nice-- I ordered it with oat milk because I forgot my lactase pills (I didn't know oats could be milked, but it gave me the desired effect of any milk without any discomfort). The cold brew left a little to be desired-- it was weak and it did not have a distinctly coffee taste according to my boyfriend. Since arriving at home, we have brewed the coffee and it is really tasty. Nothing too adventurous, but still full of flavor, which is what I was looking for in my morning cup. I'm sure we'll come back to Utica Coffee Roasting on our next trip out to central NY. read more

Happy I caved into the call. Cost about $7 for a medium iced coffee and the scone. A bit on the pricier side, but it was definitely a "treat yo self" snack and not your average Dunkin' or something. Utica Coffee sells ground coffee bags, made to order drinks, scones and muffins, and souvenirs like maple syrup, Utica Coffee Roasting branded clothing, coffee machines, and chocolates. First time to Utica and we were searching for a good coffee the whole drive from Troy - luckily we finally found Utica Coffee Roasting to save us! They have a lot going on with different coffees for sale, things like honey and a lot of bakery items. It was hard to decide on what to get! I picked up a can of their spring blend (a bit pricier than I'd normally pay but I figured when will I be back and see this again), a cookie (yummy) and local raw blueberry honey (in love with this item!). For coffee, my partner tried the iced cheese cake and was not impressed. We didn't want to go back as we had to head home but thought maybe the coffee was off. Tasted very bitter and not sweet at all. I was far happier with my P&J latte. Really could taste the peanut butter which is hard to do in coffee. I've tried their online drink pick up orders, which is very convenient when I'm on the go. My favorite is the pistachio latte, both in hot and cold form is delicious.
