From that location, it is about 8 miles from the North Carolina border. When you look at the outside of the place, it looks dated. Although it looks dated, it's not as noticeable as such inside. This post office is small and doesn't have a drive through. Parking is also fairly limited. However, due to the location of the post office, it's usually not that busy. They do close for a lunch break during the day. I can get in and out of here faster than other post offices in the city (such as at the Courthouse or Lynnhaven Pkwy). On this most recent visit, I came in to have a package delivered. After talking with the representative there, she was able to help me pick the best option for shipping. Since I was the only one in there, it was a very personable experience that is rare to find anywhere these days. Overall, this is a nice post office to come to if you don't want to have to worry about lines and waits. Sure, the drive may be a little while for some, but you may wait longer at other post office locations than it is to drive back and forth to this post office. If you are down in the southern part of Virginia Beach and need to go to a post office, this is your place to go.

This made no sense to me so I submitted an edit of US Postal Service - South Norfolk. My edit was rejected so here we are. This post office serves zip code 22324 in the SoNo section of Chesapeake, Virginia. It is small but a full-service post office that offers all the services one expects from a post office. This postal location does not have its own public parking lot but if you are unable to find available street parking there is a large parking lot for South Norfolk Christian Church nearby. There is always plenty of available parking in the church lot. I have parked there many times and have never had an issue. Staff here is friendly and helpful. I appreciate the convenient location and the service they provide. Despite its small size they are able to handle all my postal needs.

They kept thanking me for my patience but they were the patient ones, having to deal with whatever tricky system issues they ran into. Props to them all! Automated check in for online appointments is very easy--you get a text reminder of your appointment when you make it online, you reply to that number with "check in" 15 minutes before your appointment, it texts you back with a ticket number, then you sit and wait til your ticket number comes up. The waiting area got quite cold as they had an industrial a/c running, so wear layers in summer/extreme heat times. The only recommendation I have is that it would be great to have some instructions posted next to the machine that you put your face/eyes on to take your eye test, both for how to do the test/use the machine and to sanitize it after each use. If the person instructing you isn't speaking loudly, it's hard to hear what you're supposed to do.

When I came to make that happen, someone drove into the DMV, so I was forced to go to another office. At the other office they informed me that I didn't have to register my car to VA due to military exemption. My husband registered his car here and retitled his car at this DMV. He was told there was a hold on his title and that he'd receive his title in the mail. After 3 weeks, I made him an appointment at the DMV as we hadn't received his new title and he had already paid for it. The appointment was at a different DMV. They informed him they hadn't correctly processed the title at this location and printed a copy for him on the spot. TL;DR: Avoid this place like the plague, unless you love wasting time!

This is a tiny town with some personality. A few murals line the buildings and the water tower stands proudly by the railroad tracks. The post office is on a corner heading down Route 460, not far from Suffolk ,VA. The parking and access is convenient and it offers several typical postal services. It has a vintage feel with all the brass mailboxes and wood paneling. While there, I heard a lady complain that she hasn't received any mail in weeks and wondered why her mail wasn't being delivered. The postal worker said she'd look into it. Hmmm... The Lost Letter at Windsor... sounds like a good mystery to me! Hours are: M-F 8:30-1:00, 2:00-5:00 & Sat. 8:30-12:00.

So I had to find property ownership of a vacant lot for my job - let's just say I am a contract manager. I called the city assessor and the sassy lady on the other end told me 'she couldn't look on the map for me that I needed to come look at the map.' Well, I was taken aback by her tone at the time but as my experience developed, so did my understanding of the sassy lady talk. She told me it was on the 4th floor and that they are open until 5. Parking is dumb at Chesapeake City Hall; the lot is like over to the left of the building and sort of behind it and - anyway it way it was dumb. So I walked into the shiny glass fortress and into the elevator. I mashed the #4 button and was dropped off on the 6th floor somehow (??). (If you go to this building, I highly recommend this mistake - the 6th floor lobby is drop. dead. gorgeous. It looks like James Bond's house if he was in the movie Minority Report.) I was intercepted by this lovely woman with long curly brown hair - she informed me that I was on the 6th floor which houses the mayor and the city manager's office. I explained that I had mashed the button for the 4th floor but somehow ended there - she said "was it the other one? It's broken. These elevators are always gettin' fixed." It is a classic granite shaft, inscribed with tributes to the men who helped drive British forces from the colony on December 9, 1775. If you're able, tour the Great Bridge Battlefield & Waterways History Museum. Lots of history on the Colonial Era and the brief but decisive clash that marked a turning point: colonial forces routed British troops under Lord Dunmore, effectively ending royal control in Virginia and forcing the British to retreat to Norfolk. In the front you will find a concrete path with information along the way. The path away from the water has been Newley done with concrete used to be gravel. It will lead you to a oversight and can take you along another path to walk down. The path near the water will take you all the way down to the high bridge. It's a very nice walk and sand at the end with water. Just don't forget some bug spray! And watch for snakes. Also in the front past the building you can find lots of picnic tables to have some hangout time or some lunch. It's in a perfect location lots of places to grab food near and drive to sit and eat.
