I love the vintage wood entrance and counter of the diminutive govt facility. You can cross the lobby in about four steps! The post master, a young lady, was super nice and friendly! I loved this one! It suited me to the letter! Bremo Bluff was established in1636 and Robert E. Lee's family considered this quiet area a haven during the Civil War. The actual bluff is quite a site! There's a stately plantation of the same name here, dubbed by the owners from the ancestral home Braemore in the UK. Now populated with about 700 people, it has a rich history. If you ever come to this are in Fluvanna County, be sure to see the bluff and go to the post office! It needs a lick of paint and some landscaping to make it 5 stars!! The exterior is a long cream brick and stone building with dozens of large windows that expand across the front of the entire building. The wood paneling inside is very 60's, but has those cool vintage brass P.O. Boxes. The dedication plaque marks the post office's opening in 1962. There's a gift card kiosk, neatly organized shopping supplies, some holiday mailing items, and a greeting card display. The post office gentleman that I spoke to was incredibly friendly and helpful! He chatted with me and other customers like neighbors, all the while being efficient and polite. He stamped my postcard and even took a selfie with me! Great visit! And they have passport services! When I called, the person I talked to said it was probably due to not having any mail to deliver to my address. That's no excuse for not doing your job, it makes no difference if I have incoming mail or not, you still need to check if I have outgoing mail. This is not the first time that I have seen our mail carrier do this, it is almost a monthly thing with her. The post mistress said that it would not happen again, I guess that she lied to me.

But, all in all, this place definitely needs an update and could use some TLC. As far as service, these small country post offices are friendly and accommodating! There are seldom long lines and the have Saturday hours from 10am-12pm. Sending packages, snagging a greeting card, purchasing stamps, getting money orders are pretty easy breezy! But no passport services or self serve kiosks. All in all, a pretty average postal service, although the building and cleanliness substandard. Amelia should deliver more.

A few years ago I had a package sent that the sender forgot to include my apt number on. My regular mailman had the day off and I just happened to be grabbing the mail and saw that the package was not delivered. We tracked it and saw it was being sent back the the sender, so we rushed to the post office. The person behind the counter got the tracking info from us and decided to check for it and found it right away. Another time recently my mailman saw me near the mailbox and gave me a shout because he had a package that was too big for my mailbox and would've had to be picked up from the post office otherwise. This location does get really busy, there are a lot of apartments nearby in walking distance. Sometimes they are understaffed, but that is the case almost everywhere. Everyone I have worked with here has been professional.
