Bob has been a godsend. My dad is 80 and is unable/unwilling to learn new technology. His computer was from 2001. It failed twice, and Bob came to the rescue twice. Yesterday when I took him the computer, Bob diagnosed it and ascertained that the computer had finally died. He sold me a used replacement for a fair price that is an upgrade from my dad's old computer, but not too upgraded - so that my dad feels comfortable using it. I am so grateful to Bob. After searching around Marin for a good affordable tech person, i was directed to Bob by a friend and was very satisfied with my experience. Definitely recommend him! PROS: - He picked up the phone which in itself was more than the other 4 people i tried. - He was available same day to replace the keyboard on my Macbook pro - He replaced it while i waited, so i was able to actually see everything going on - He was cheaper than the rest - He did more than required - even gifted me 2 screws that had gone missing from a previous tech's work a couple years ago - His place was clean and orderly, much better than other places i've seen CONS: - None! read more

My experience with Bob truly is an "as good as it gets" story. I've been pulling my hair out trying to get my finicky wireless printer to work, while also recognizing the need for a desktop computer. Bob worked within my budget AND was kind enough to help me get the whole shebang operational. His location in San Anselmo is charming, and there's this really great bonus of an adorable on site dog. I was blown away by how inexpensively he solved my problem, and by how kind and generous he was with his time. Additional kudos for having a wife who donates time to the thrift store in town (not that it matters really...but still). Bottom line is, I had the kind of experience I used to have back in the day when it was possible to simply get something solved by reaching out to a neighbor...the kind of neighbor who is out to help more-so than to make a quick profit. This guy runs a used computer parts business out of his home. Pretty good selection of laptop parts, speakers, etc. I bought an ac adaptor for my laptop from the guy. He is prices are fair, but not great. He charged me $30 for the adapter. He only accepts cash so be prepared. If you live in West Marin, Fairfax, or San Anselmo, this is probably your best bet. Just a note: The store is actually in his basement, so just use the google to find his street. its off the main road and a little tough to find, but the house is well marked. read more

I live locally, so I'm blaming the old review on someone who never lived here :). Bob is the most fabulous resource for fixing the computer you have, getting a newer one (from him or anywhere else), and his prices cannot be beat! He doesn't charge for free advice, and he gives away a lot of that! There's more! He has always known the answer to fix any problem I had, and always gave me the least expensive alternative to keeping my laptop (Sony Vaio) going. He is an Apple expert, but is just as expert with PC's. He does work out of his home, but he lives in a very nice old neighborhood in San Anselmo, and converted his very large garage (ground level) to his workspace - so you feel like you're in someone's very clean garage. He has guard-pugs for fun - who come to visit while you're there. I've been around the block, used all the service guys at the normal places, Best Buy, Fry's, Office Depot, other people who said they knew what they were doing. I cannot say enough good things about Used Technology and Bob Michetti, the owner of the business.. I have been going to Bob for about five years with various computer issues and never been disappointed. Not only is Bob an expert in his field, but he is patient, courteous and explains problems in a way that I can understand. (A very rare find for me these days!) If he tells me my computer will be ready on a certain day, it always is. The only exception might be if he is waiting for a part to be shipped. Often, he can do the repair while you wait, or have it ready the same day. His business space is amazing: organized and clean. He also sells refurbished computers if the one you own has become obsolete, or you'd just like to upgrade.What a comfort for me to know Used Technology is there when I need computer help. read more

Bob is the best computer guy for repairs, I have taken many computers to him, He is very honest, did'nt charge me anything when it was something he spent time on and it could not be fixed to his satisfaction( although it worked better from my point of view ), he will tell you like it is on your computer repair, He helped me keep my old computers going, and did'nt try to sell me any upgrades, now that I have a newer better comp. I will still take it to him if any problems arise. his prices are more than fair, and I feel like I am a friend not just a customer when I take a computer there, also the turn around is much better than other shops. I cant say enough, this is the only shop I will trust with my computer to. read more
